Chapter 2497 - Skywell Seafiend
"Do you think you can swallow them?" Kunmo Chao snickered, but the next instant, the two giant whales split up into countless tiny evernight whales, tearing the two cuttlefish into countless little pieces in the process. The chunks of flesh hovered in the ocean before Kunmo Chao\'s eyes and he let out a harrowing shriek of despair from the sudden death of his two low-ether-class warbeasts. Not even their carcasses remained whole! They were gone in a single exchange!
Kunmo Chao was more than stupefied. His beasts weren\'t normal ones that could be compared with those in Ebonia. The two cuttlefiend cobras were the last surviving male and female members of their species! Kunmo Chao dearly cherished them, but now all of his efforts had gone to waste! It felt like his heart had been torn apart and scrambled; his state of mind was clearly visible on his tortured face.
"Die!" In a fit of rage, he mustered the power of his divine soul and charged toward Moran. Before he arrived, the pressure of his soul had been exerted all around her, which seemed to affect her somewhat. As such, she immediately prevented him from getting closer.
"Little Fish, careful! Watch out for the skywell seafiend!" Tianming warned.
"I know." She had three foes remaining to take care of, namely the Kunmo brothers and the skywell seafiend, which was the undisputed ruler of the beasts in the Inkwell Sea as a mid-ether-class warbeast. It had survived what the cuttlefiend cobras had failed to, partly thanks to its wit. It had intentionally remained in the rear of the formation without going too far ahead. It was a gigantic sea urchin with no distinguishing features apart from the spikes on its surface.
That beast has a body as tough as steel and countless spikes.... It must be better at close-range fights. Right as Moran thought that, the urchin suddenly shuddered as a crack opened at its center, revealing a single bloodshot eye. The capillaries that lined the eye were so dense that it looked completely red. When the eye set sight on Moran, a wave of terrifying soul energy rushed toward her.
"Take control of her!" After losing so many warbeasts with nothing to show for it, Kunmo Cang changed his target to Moran.
"No!" Tianming knew the instant the eye opened that this kind of attack wasn\'t something Moran could defend well against even with the best of preparation. "Just because my ship can\'t hit the two of you doesn\'t mean it can\'t hit that big urchin!"
"Those who dare to touch Little Fish shall be cooked alive!" Ying Huo cried.
The firmament ocean wonder hadn\'t limited the movement of the Ninedragon Imperial Tomb in the slightest, and Moran intentionally made an opening for the ship to move during this crucial moment. Of the two new functions the ship had unlocked, one of them was the black dragon tail sword! It could absorb nova source and be used like a blade, while the cannon had to charge up power before it could fire.
Nova source surged within the Ninedragon Imperial Tomb. Tianming had used it to fight the voidheart worm back at Skywolf Star, a beast with an unimaginably large mass. Granted, the voidheart worm wasn\'t that high level to begin with. Nova wildbeasts in lower-class worlds often had inflated sizes, making them known as cosmic wildbeasts. The skywell seafiend itself was incredibly huge. While it wasn\'t even a hundredth the volume of the ship, it was plenty big enough to be targeted by the ship\'s falling blade!
"With how much vile aura that\'s coming from that eye of the urchin, it must’ve refined an Archaionfiend Eye!" Things immediately clicked in Tianming\'s mind.
"Avoid it!" Despite the warning from the Kunmo brothers, there was nothing they could do about the incoming attack. The black dragon tail glowed bright pink with the power of nova source as it slashed toward the skywell seafiend, who had its attention focused on channeling its soul power toward Moran. But Tianming\'s sudden attack disrupted its rhythm, causing it to close its eye and rapidly spin, tearing a path through the firmament ocean wonder to narrowly avoid the ship\'s strike!
The firmament ocean itself shook from the tremors. Moran quickly used that chance to retreat into the ship, but her divine wonders remained outside and could still attack as part of the ship\'s divine astralship formation. While the capabilities of her divine wonders would be slightly weakened without her there, they were still sufficient for preventing the skywell seafiend from piercing the ship\'s formation.
"Hold it down for me!" Tianming said.
"Okay!" After the close call, Moran seemed a little shaken and focused everything she had left on the skywell seafiend first. The evernight whales within the ocean and the ocean water itself crowded around the warbeast, holding it in place!
"Here goes nothing!" Using a ship to attack an individual cultivator was impossibly difficult, but it would only take a bit of skill for it to hit large wildbeasts. At the end of the day, beasts were still more agile than the mechanical contraptions of divine astralships. The level of control one had over ships was in a completely different league compared to that of a beastmaster on their beast. However, attacking a beast bound by a divine wonder was a different story.
The skywell seafiend struggled as the Ninedragon Imperial Tomb\'s razor-sharp tail, coated in glowing pink nova source, slashed it into two halves! Just like that, it perished. The Ninedragon Imperial Tomb was nothing to be trifled with, especially with access to the supercharged Gladean nova source. This time around, the sheer volume of blood that poured out of the bisected urchin was clear for everyone to see.
"The skywell seafiend and cuttlefiend cobras are all dead! The two lords\' warbeasts have all been slaughtered!"
"With the ruler of the wildbeasts dead, the rest of them will riot!"
The ebons’ will to fight seemed to collapse from that devastating blow to the heart. Even the strongest fighters of the Inkwell Sea—not the brothers, but the skywell seafiend—had still been absolutely defeated by a divine astralship. It had died just as the attacks from the Black Panther Army reached its peak, but even if the urchin had survived the blow, the end result wouldn\'t be that different.
With their warbeasts dead, the ebons were basically two-thirds crippled. The billion-plus ebons felt completely crushed, and their formation collapsed right after the skywell seafiend perished. The deafening sound of shattering glass could be heard from all across the Inkwell Sea.
