Chapter 159: 159: Cleaning Up the Mess

“Ye’er, please save me, I don’t want to go to jail…I can’t…,” Jin Lan sobbed, clutching Jin Chenye’s arm desperately, like a drowning person clutching at a straw.

Jin Chenye frowned deeply, “I’ve already arranged for someone to handle this matter, but remember, Mom, if there’s a next time, I can’t save you.”

If it hadn’t been for Ning Yanan who had lost her temper at him in Qin Group, he wouldn’t have known that Qin Youxuan was missing.

Like everyone else, his first thought was of his own mother.

However, when he received the news, Dan Hanjie had already rescued Qin Youxuan, and the kidnappers had been arrested…

“This matter has passed.”

Chenye’s gaze flickered as he helped Jin Lan to sit down on a chair and wiped the tears from her face.

He poured her a glass of water.

“Mom, promise me, don’t provoke Xuan anymore. It doesn’t matter who owns Qin Group, I swear to you, I won’t let you suffer again.”

All in all, Jin Lan ended up in this situation because of her love for her son.

As her son, Jin Chenye was heartbroken, but he couldn’t just watch her get into trouble and do nothing.

The two people he cared about the most had become enemies. Who could understand the pain in his heart?

The smile at the corner of his mouth grew increasingly bitter.

“It’s getting late. You should go to bed. I’ll handle the rest.” Jin Chenye took the untouched glass of water from Jin Lan’s hand and put it on the table.

“…Okay.” Jin Lan’s emotions had finally calmed. She glanced at the stern-faced Jin Chenye, not daring to ask more.

She rose from the chair, turned around and walked out.

“Mom, we were lucky Xuan wasn’t hurt this time; otherwise, even if you got Qin Group, you would lose your son,” Jin Chenye’s deep voice echoed like a cello as he glanced at Jin Lan who was just walking out the door.

Jin Lan turned around, staring at him in surprise.

She stood frozen for a good while, unable to move.

Jin Chenye just stood quietly, his elegant figure looking somewhat solitary under the light.

Yet his gaze was as sharp as a knife.

Jin Lan stared at him silently for a moment, finally choosing to not say another word. She opened the door and left.

“Boss!” The special assistant swiftly entered the study and respectfully came to a halt in front of Jin Chenye.

“How is the situation being handled?” Jin Chenye’s gentle eyes darkened for a moment, his voice carrying a rare coldness.

“Both of the kidnappers are dead, and whoever did it was fast and clean. Even if Dan Hanjie wants to investigate, it’s probably too late,” the assistant reported dutifully.

He handed the files in his hand to Jin Chenye.

“Boss, this time, we owe a lot to Miss Meng. Without the Meng family’s network, we probably wouldn’t have been able to take action so smoothly.”

“Make sure it’s cleaned up and doesn’t cause any trouble for the Meng family,” Jin Chenye glanced at the file in his hand, “Invite Miss Meng for a meal as my treat. Tell me once the time is confirmed.”

“Yes,” The assistant bowed respectfully.

“Youxuan, she…” Jin Chenye started speaking but wasn’t sure what to ask next.

The assistant was unsure of his meaning and could only report what he knew, “Miss Qin was taken back to the villa by Dan Hanjie and hasn’t left since. However, several doctors have been in and out of Yujing Villa. It seems Miss Qin was injured.”
