Chapter 54: 54: Did you release the news to the newspaper?
“Oh, so you’re angry because I hit the nail on the head?” Qin Youxuan held her head up high, standing straight,” You might as well live a bit longer, so you can watch me drive out these shameless mother and son!
“Slap — ”
A harsh slap landed on her pretty face, Qin Youxuan turned her head, and covered her face with her hand.
“How could I have a daughter as rebellious as you! I…” As Qin Mo raised his hand, before he could fall down again, Qin Youxuan’s arm was forcibly yanked back by Jin Chenye, shielding her.
“Dad, let’s talk things out calmly.” Jin Chenye’s tall figure provides a firm shelter for Qin Youxuan.
“Let me go, I don’t need your hypocrisy!” Qin Youxuan briskly walked out from behind him, till she was in front of Qin Mo. “Hit me! If you dare, kill me! I want to ask my mom why she didn’t take me with her when she left, leaving me here to watch these despicable people flaunt their power in front of me!”
“You…”
Qin Mo’s raised hand paused in mid-air. On hearing her suddenly mention his ex-wife, his face changed slightly.
For a moment, he shoved the plates off the table, tossed his hand away and left.
“Mo, remember your heart condition; the doctor said you can’t get agitated…wait for me…” Jin Lan, who had been watching the quarrel with a cold triumphant smirk, leisurely turned and followed him out.
“Bang”
Unable to suppress her anger, Qin Youxuan cleared everything off the table with a sweep of her hand. Plates, bowls and chopsticks crashed to the floor, making a sound of crackle and jingle.
Even the newspapers that Jin Lan had managed to gather were scattered on the ground.
The bold, festive words were striking. Qin Youxuan’s cat-like eyes squinted as she seized one of the papers.
“Are these all true, like my mother said? Did you plant these stories in the newspapers?”
A warm voice sounded from above her, a handsome face suddenly appeared in her line of vision, blocking the light in front of her, and took the newspaper from her hand.
He merely glanced at it before he casually tossed it into the trash can.
His large hand cupped her face, very carefully, like he was holding his own treasure. “Does it hurt?”
“Keep your fake sympathy to yourself. I don’t need your pity!” Qin Youxuan froze for a second before armoring herself like a porcupine, shrugged off his hand from her face and backed away.
She caught a glimpse of his pained expression, turned her head away and ignored it.
Jin Chenye was an illegitimate son, carrying his mother’s surname, but resembled his father, Qin Mo.
Refined features, elegant countenance, outstanding temperament…
In him, all you could ever see was the halo of a prince, not the contempt of an illegitimate child.
Standing quietly in the dining hall, with everything around him seeming merely as decoration, he looked silently towards the light that filtered through the large french windows, casting a charmingly deep shadow on his profile.
Ironically, the more he resembled Qin Mo, the more it reminded Qin Youxuan that her father had secretly fathered a child with another woman even before marrying her mother!
“As long as you’re still in Qin family, I’ll never leave you alone. This includes your drama-loving mother!” Qin Youxuan shouted, not giving him another glance before attempting to walk out.
But her wrist was abruptly seized and pulled back harshly.
She was instantly enraged!
“Jin Chenye, let go of me!”
“No!” Jin Chenye replied firmly, his voice a dominating growl.
Qin Youxuan had never seen him this stern, and was taken aback for a moment.
