Chapter 73 - 73 Playboy (Please Subscribe)

Lin Shen followed behind Wei Wufu, with Lu Qing and Xu Tiange flanking him on the left and right, respectively. Almost simultaneously, each tossed out two Pet Capsules that transformed into Alloy Creatures, protecting their rear.

Wei Wufu was really fierce, charging at the forefront alone. His swift movements allowed him to avoid being surrounded, while he swung his blade toward an Alloy Creature.

The Alloy Creature raised its harpoon to meet the attack, but it was a step too late, as Wei Wufu’s blade severed its arm.

Wei Wufu took on four opponents, still with ease to spare.

Other Alloy Creatures rushed over, but they were blocked by four Alloy Creatures, and for the moment, they couldn’t break through.

Lin Shen held the Angel Revolver in his hand but didn’t rush to shoot, because his gun was loaded with Steel Capsules and unless it hit a vital spot, it wouldn’t be easy to kill these Alloy Creatures.

The spectators marveled at Wei Wufu’s bravery and were also anxious for the pets of Xu Tiange and Lu Qing.

Under the onslaught of so many Alloy Creatures, it was feared that the four Alloy Creatures might not hold out for long.

When their gaze fell on Lin Shen, the scene seemed to shift in an odd direction.

A Steel Mutator, Lin Shen was holding a small handgun, and they had no idea what use the handgun could have against the Alloy Creatures.

If you had an anti-tank rifle, it might be slightly useful, but what’s the point of wielding a small handgun there, are you joking around?

Some even noticed that within the backpack on Lin Shen’s back, there was actually a pigeon, with its round little head poking out from the opening of the backpack, curiously looking around.

“This young master is truly exceptional; coming to such a dangerous place, I can barely understand carrying a handgun for a lack of security, seeking psychological comfort. But in such a big backpack, you could at least carry more Pet Capsules with you, or maybe some food and water. What are you doing with a real pet pigeon inside—is this a vacation?” Someone couldn’t help but make a snide comment.

Because Lin Shen hadn’t been seen using any pets, many people had this kind of thought.

Most people felt that Lin Shen was a burden, and in such a dangerous environment, he could likely become a liability to his teammates.

Especially, Lin Shen’s behavior seemed so abstract that it left people confused about what was going on in his head.

Only a few who had seen a Pet Capsule Launcher knew that the gun in Lin Shen’s hand was high-end merch, not something an average person could get.

On the second floor of a teahouse at Dark Bird Base, Wang Tian’er and Qi Shuheng were drinking tea while watching the mirage-like images in the sky.

“Brother Tian’er, what’s your Wang Family’s take on this matter?” Qi Shuheng’s expression looked a bit grim.

The place they considered forbidden was now publicly disclosed, a significant blow to both Qi Shuheng and the Qi Family.

It was no different for the Wang Family. Wang Tian’er forced a bitter smile, “What opinion could I possibly hold? The entire world now knows that place exists. I believe it won’t be long before the major families from the Super-Bases will come looking for it. This secret is definitely impossible to keep any longer.”

“That may not necessarily be the case,” said Qi Shuheng, glancing at Lin Shen. “They were able to get in, and I’d wager nine times out of ten it’s thanks to the Dark Bird of the Lin Family. If Lin Shen and the Dark Bird die inside, without the Dark Bird, who else could find Gourd Mountain?”

Qi Shuheng was clearly mistaken, thinking that Lin Shen really had a Dark Bird in hand and that the people from the Lu and Xu Families were led in by Lin Shen using the Dark Bird.

“You think if he dies, those major families won’t be able to figure it out? As long as someone comes out alive, it’s the same. We can’t keep our Dark Bird anymore,” sighed Wang Tian’er.

Qi Shuheng fell silent for a moment, then sighed helplessly, deflated, “We’ve plotted for so long and ended up with nothing, and now we might even be wedding-dress makers for others. It’s too frustrating.”

“Stop thinking about that for now; focus on how to save our lives and secure our family’s safety instead,” said Wang Tian’er, who usually appeared combative but now saw things more clearly than Qi Shuheng. “Those major families will find us sooner or later. We can’t keep the Dark Bird any longer. You better think carefully about what to trade it for.”

Qi Shuheng bitterly said, “You’re right, it’s time to think about these things, but I just can’t help feeling resentful. The chance for us to rise was right before us; it’s all because of those bastards of the Lin Family.”

“What’s the use of resentment? This is how the world works; only the strong survive,” Wang Tian’er paused before continuing, “Actually, for us, this isn’t necessarily a bad thing. I don’t know how the Lin Family managed this commotion, exposing that secret place to the whole world. But because of that, even the major families won’t be able to monopolize the place. Although we can’t keep the Dark Bird, we might still secure some spots to enter that mysterious place. By relying on major families to get us in there, it’ll be safer than going in by ourselves, and we might gain more.”

“I hope so,” Qi Shuheng said, still resentful as he watched Lin Shen’s figure. “In any case, the people from the Lin Family really deserve to die.”

The deserving-to-die Lin Shen wasn’t dead yet and was constantly sizing up the Alloy Creatures charging at him. His gun had never fired.

“No good, we can’t hold them off. Xu Tiange, stop holding back and bring out your trump-card Pet,” urged Lu Qing, pulling out a Pet Capsule that looked like a red jade stone and transformed it into a combat-ready stance with his hand.

A red jade lion roared into life and pounced on the incoming Alloy Creatures, tackling one to the ground. Its sharp claws tore through the creature’s chest as though the hard golden armor was mere paper under its grasp.

Xu Tiange also stopped holding back and threw out a Pet Capsule that looked like gold crystal, summoning a Gold Crystal Giant Bull that charged forward, sending Alloy Creatures flying. Its horns even pierced through an Alloy Creature, lifting and tossing it halfway into the air.

The appearance of the two Crystal Base Pets instantly changed the course of the battle, like a tiger among wolves, quickly slaying several Alloy Creatures.

The golden harpoons of the Alloy Creatures plunged into their bodies could not inflict any harm and only left them to be slaughtered.

“Damn, those two bodyguards actually have Crystal Base Pets!”

“Who exactly is that young master, having Crystal Base Pets for bodyguards?”

“Isn’t this the strongest playboy around? No wonder he dared to venture into such a dangerous place with only a Steel Mutator, a pigeon, and a small handgun.”

As the two Crystal Base Pets displayed their might, more people were drawn to watch, and increasingly many eyes turned towards the images of Lin Shen and his companions.
