Chapter 54 - 53 “Doubts” and “Departure” (Seeking Chase Reading)
Seventh Ring Magic!
How incredibly powerful!
At least at this time, Milton Cheney couldn’t comprehend such power.
“I’ve stumbled upon a treasure.”
Milton sighed inwardly.
Not just any treasure, acquiring this kind of magic is almost like a vagrant suddenly becoming a Duke in the Kingdom.
After absorbing the memory in his mind, Milton turned his attention back to the Book of Magic in his hand.
The book had greatly changed.
The eye on the book cover had disappeared, and all the text and symbols on the pages had vanished as well.
The additional memories made Milton realize this is normal.
Ordinary Zero Ring Magic, once inscribed in a book, can be reused by multiple individuals.
However, special Zero Ring Magic like Spiritual Eye, requires extremely high-quality material on which to inscribe not only for a single-use learning, but also directly transmitted in the form of memory.
Placing the book back into the wooden box, Milton kept all three boxes back into the small dimension space within the Spatial Key.
Although he now had the memory and inscription technique for Spiritual Eye, inscribing this magic into his Spiritual Sea is far from an easy task.
But Milton didn’t worry about this, because he had the external plugin.
However, once he calmed down, Milton found something odd.
Yes, it was odd.
He didn’t forget where he had obtained the Spatial Key.
The Spatial Key certainly didn’t just suddenly appear within the Golden Lion Family.
By synthesizing the simulations and the actions of the Black Robe Seekers’ Club, it wasn’t difficult to guess that the person who likely left behind this Spatial Key was an ancestor of the Golden Lion Family.
But the strange thing for Milton was here.
The ancestor of the Golden Lion Family would definitely have been a wizard apprentice, and there was even a slight chance they were a real wizard.
Milton didn’t believe that entities of this caliber wouldn’t understand the preciousness of the Spatial Key.
Moreover, within the Spatial Key there existed magic stones; these stones were indispensable to a wizard.
Not to mention it contained the more important Spiritual Eye Magic.
Magic device, Magic stone, Magic!
Milton felt that any wizard shouldn’t refuse any of these three things.
In his previous simulation, even a true wizard like the City Lord of Stanton would be tempted by storage magic device.
Then why would an ancestor who possibly wasn’t even a wizard give up such important things, and instead leave it to the Golden Lion Family who did not have a wizard at all.
Milton should remember, this ancestor was once ‘provided’ by the family to a wizard as an experiment subject.
Even if this grudge had faded, he shouldn’t have been this generous.
Milton pondered with a frown.
“Could it be that all the magic inscription slots were full? No, that’s wrong, how do you explain the magic device and magic stone?”
“And a magic like the Spiritual Eye could definitely be exchanged for large amounts of magic stones.”
“Perhaps the ancestor assumed no one in the Golden Lion Family would discover the secret of the Spatial Key, so he temporarily lodged the key in the family? But in a simulation, I got a hundred-year key and didn’t see the ancestor coming back to get it.”
Thoughts entangled in his mind, Milton was utterly baffled.
Milton himself was a rather suspicious person, but after thinking for a long while, he still couldn’t come up with any plausible reason.
So he put the idea aside for the time being, while still remaining cautious.
The benefits have already been reaped, and there isn’t much point in brooding over it now.
If Milton were asked to part with the Spatial Key now, of course, it would be impossible.
Then, he pulled back the Spatial Key into his Spiritual Sea and started practicing the Black Tower Meditation Technique while sitting cross-legged.
“This much?”
Milton took a cloth bag from Earl Arthur, opened, and said after a glimpse.
The bag was filled with shimmery gold scrolls, also known as gold vouchers.
Milton had just a cursory glance, and their face values were all 100, adding up to several hundreds of thousands.
Several hundred thousand gold coins are by no means a small sum in the Kingdom.
“Gold coins are essential for traveling around the Kingdom, these are just two hundred thousand, not much.”
Earl Arthur responded with a light smile, as if this wasn’t two hundred thousand gold coins, but just twenty pieces of paper.
But with the wealth of the Golden Lion Family, two hundred thousand gold coins aren’t indeed much, and can even be considered as trivial.
“Other things are loaded on the carriage. In this trip around the Kingdom, you will be alone. Keep in mind what I told you before.”
Earl Arthur’s tone was very serious, Milton nodded upon hearing this.
Looking at Milton’s back, a range of emotions flashed in Earl Arthur’s eyes under his calm expression.
“William?”
Milton crossed the Golden Lion garden to the place where the carriage was parked.
Upon arrival, he found William standing by the carriage, which was quite surprising.
“Let’s go, young master. I will escort you to the edge of Four Seasons City in the Far East Territory. After we reach there, you will be on your own.” William grinned, noticing the surprise in Milton’s eyes.
“Thanks.”
Milton understood that this was his father Earl Arthur’s idea, so naturally, he didn’t refuse. He acknowledged with a smile.
With that, Milton climbed into the carriage, while William mounted his horse and cracked the whip.
“Whip!”
Sitting inside the coach, Milton pulled back the curtain and looked back at his past.
Milton knew that his return from this tour of the Kingdom might take several years.
Now he is a Grand Knight, a Level 1 Wizard Apprentice, but how will he be when he returns from touring the Kingdom a few years later?
Milton couldn’t predict the future, so naturally, he didn’t know.
Brushing aside the unusual emotions in his heart, Milton closed the curtain.
Picking up a large map from one side, this map was specially prepared by Earl Arthur for Milton.
The latest version of the Kingdom’s map, encompassing the entire Frostwinter Kingdom, even areas outside the Kingdom’s borders are marked out.
This map might look simple, but its value is quite high within the Kingdom.
Milton saw East River Province on the map, and even spotted Far East Territory instantly.
The Far East Territory is not small, but it’s very inconspicuous compared to the whole kingdom’s map.
Naturally it’s not because Milton’s eyesight was terrific; instead, it was because it was marked out on the map.
The East River Province occupied one-sixth of the Kingdom’s Territory, and Far East Territory took up just a small chunk within it.
About one-fifteenth part of it? Milton wasn’t too sure.
Milton examined the map carefully, Four Seasons City, wasn’t conspicuous on the massive map, but he found it nonetheless.
William was right, Four Seasons City was at the farthest edge of the Far East Territory.
Milton moved his gaze from the Four Seasons City on the map and observed the entire Kingdom.
After becoming a Wizard Apprentice, Milton noticed an increase in his memory.
Him memory used to be very strong. And now it’s even stronger, with an almost photographic memory.
So briefly, he was able to carve the details of the entire map in his brain.
He could recall anything on the map at any given time..
