Chapter 468: 468: The Conflict between Ji Baixin and Yin Qin Ignites (One More)

She turned to see nanny Wu lulling the little tiger to sleep, noting that the nearby trash bin was already full.

Even though Song Zhizhi arranged for a cleaner to come regularly, the baby’s presence made them feel like one bin wasn’t enough. They had been going through so many diapers and tissues.

She got up to dispose of the trash, heading to the door.

She made her way to the stairwell to take out the trash.

Just as she approached the emergency exit, she heard a familiar but hostile voice yell, “Let me make it clear for you, Yin Bin, forget about tricking me into persuading Xiaolang to clear things up for your useless son. Whatever he’s up to, he’s digging his own grave. Even if it ruins our family, he deserves it! Don’t even think about it.”

Qin Keqin shouted furiously into her phone.

Yin Bin’s voice was soft as he replied, “When did I ever say that Xiaolang should clear things up for Yin Qin? I have no such intentions, where did you get that from? Honey, tell me where you are. I’ll join you. I’m worried since you just left like that. Don’t forget that you’re of advanced maternal age.”

“Don’t think I didn’t hear your phone call today with god-knows-who, talking about how the only solution is to have Xiaolang help Yin Qin speak it out publicly! Don’t come looking for me in the next few days. I’ve left home and you won’t be able to find me! That’s it, I’m busy.”

“Qin Keqin!” There was an angry shout from the other end.

Qin Keqin abruptly hung up, looking annoyed.

She turned around.

Upon turning, she saw Luo Xiaolang standing there with the trash bin.

Qin Keqin was taken aback.

Luo Xiaolang smiled slightly, “Auntie, you’re here?”

“I came to see the little tiger.” Qin Keqin managed a small smile as well.

“Wait for me a moment, I need to throw out the trash.”

Qin Keqin nodded.

After Luo Xiaolang had disposed of the trash, she went back home with Qin Keqin.

The little tiger was asleep.

Qin Keqin went over and indulged in kissing and hugging him, unable to let go.

Luo Xiaolang just stood by and watched. Eventually, nanny Wu took the little tiger to his small bed.

Qin Keqin kept watching the little tiger from beside his small bed.

Luo Xiaolang kept her company.

Qin Keqin said, “Nanny Wu told me you’ve stopped breastfeeding.”

Luo Xiaolang nodded.

“That damn bastard Yin Qin!” Qin Keqin cursed.

Luo Xiaolang smiled faintly at the corner of her mouth.

It seemed that Qin Keqin now wished she could flay Yin Qin alive.

“How’s the little tiger doing with formula?”

“Much better,” Luo Xiaolang replied,”He can usually eat some if we coax him. These days, nanny Wu and I have been trying to feed him whenever we can. The doctor said it’s best to feed him when he’s drowsy, so he can’t tell whether it’s formula or breastmilk, and then he would eat.”

“You’ve had a hard time.” Qin Keqin said heavily.

As a mother, as someone who’s been through it, she knew the feeling.

“It’s alright. The little tiger is all I have now anyway. My energy is spent on him, so I don’t feel it’s a hardship,” Luo Xiaolang said calmly with a shrug.

Nanny Wu chuckled quietly on the sidelines.

How hard the process of weaning the little tiger was, only she, who was present throughout, knew. She understood what Luo Xiaolang had gone through in the process.

Because the doctor stressed the importance of ensuring the little tiger had enough milk, Luo Xiaolang had spent an entire week stolidly lulling him to eat whenever he was awake or drowsy. His previous resistance had resulted in heart-wrenching cries, but Luo Xiaolang always soothed him with gentle words. Occasionally, she would break down, hold him close, and then after a second or two, she would soothe him calmly again, often pleadingly asking him to eat even a little.

Luo Xiaolang barely slept these days, only catching a few winks when the little tiger was asleep. The moment he woke, she would immediately get up, prepare his formula, patiently coax him to eat it, repeating the process over and over and over. Now, the little tiger could finally accept the formula a bit, no longer being so resistant. Although he didn’t eat much and still fussed occasionally, at least he would eat after fussing, unlike before when he’d completely refuse.

“Auntie, how’s your health?” Luo Xiaolang changed the subject.

She didn’t really like to talk about things that weren’t going well. She was used to bearing things by herself, no matter how hard it was.

She always felt that her problems were her own and shouldn’t bother others with them.

“Fine. The doctor keeps reminding me that I’m an older mom, but I feel less annoyed with this pregnancy than with the one with Yin Qin. I’ve been so angry lately that I almost forget I’m pregnant,” Qin Keqin said.

Luo Xiaolang didn’t know what to say.

Yin Qin was the reason for Qin Keqin’s anger. Presently, not wanting any involvement with Yin Qin or to discuss him, she was silent.

Fortunately, at that moment, Qin Keqin’s phone rang.

One look at the caller ID and Qin Keqin felt her blood pressure spike.

Luo Xiaolang glanced at the screen too. It was Yin Qin calling.

Qin Keqin took the call, sounding fierce as she moved away, bellowing, “I told you not to call me anymore!”

“Mom, what’s with you and dad again? Dad is frantically looking for you right now. Can’t you have some sympathy for my old man? Let him have some peace, considering his age. Don’t provoke him so much. Be careful he might have a stroke from high blood pressure and drop dead. Do you want my sister to grow up without a father?”

“Who are you cursing!” Qin Keqin was about to burst.

“Don’t hold a grudge against dad for my sake. If you need to be angry, be angry with me.”

“Why would I be angry with you? You’re nothing to me,” Qin Keqin retorted.

“…” Yin Qin was left speechless.

How much had his mother despised him recently? Whenever he went home, he was always chased away with a kitchen knife.

He had the impression that it would be a long time before he could go home.

“Where are you?” Yin Qin cautiously inquired, making sure not to provoke the soon-to-be mom.

“Where I am is none of your business,” Qin Keqin shot back.

“Is Dad really looking for you?”

“Tell him to stop looking. I’ll come back when I feel like it.”

“Mom, considering your current condition, stop torturing my old dad.”

“I told you it’s none of your business!”

“Are you at Luo Xiaolang’s place?” Yin Qin asked directly.

“…” Qin Keqin was stunned for a second.

When did her foolish son become so smart?

She said, “I’m not there. Because of you, I’ve lost all face to see her. Stop guessing, tell your dad not to look for me, I’ll be fine on my own!”

With that, she abruptly hung up the phone.

Yin Qin stared at his phone screen, somewhat dazed.

He had long guessed that his mother would go to Luo Xiaolang. He told his father, but his father thought it unlikely. If his mother wanted to avoid him, she definitely wouldn’t go to Luo Xiaolang.

His father thinks too highly of his mother’s intellect. Moreover, he was certain she never intended to completely avoid his father. While their relationship is particularly good at the moment, it’s his father’s insecurity that leads to moments of confusion.

He suddenly got up from his office chair and left his office.

When Wu Meili, the Chairman’s secretary, saw him, she hurriedly approached him, “Chairman, where are you going?”

“To find Her Majesty at home. Call me if there’s something.” Yin Qin left directly.

Her Majesty.

Goodness.

Has Ji Baixin become Her Majesty now?!

Yin Qin drove away from the Milky Way Building.

As his car moved smoothly on the road, Yin Qin received a call from Ji Baixin.

Yin Qin connected to his Bluetooth, “Baixin, are you awake?”

Ji Baixin had been resting at home due to her health recently, and had not been going to work. He didn’t want to disturb her when he left every morning.

“Mm. I’ve been awake for a while and have had breakfast.”

“That’s good.”

“Yin Qin, I’ve again reviewed the situation in the Milky Way. Have you thought about what you’re going to do?” Ji Baixin asked, nervously.

If it weren’t for Yin Qin’s situation, largely due to her, he wouldn’t be facing these challenges. So she wanted to help him get through this.

“I’ll resign.” Yin Qin said.

It seemed the best solution for now.

“But what will you do afterward?”

“Do you loathe me?” Yin Qin joked.

“Yin Qin, I’m being serious!”

“We’ll discuss future matters in the future.” Yin Qin dismissively responded.

“Actually, I reached out to Luo Xiaolang today.” Ji Baixin stated frankly.

Yin Qin’s grip on the steering wheel tightened.

“I asked her to speak up for you in the media, but she refused.” Ji Baixin said, “She didn’t want to get involved.”

Yin Qin pursed his lips.

It’s reassuring that she didn’t want to get involved. He didn’t want to owe Luo Xiaolang too much.

“Baixin, lets not involve Luo Xiaolang in our affairs.” He said earnestly.

“Do you want to keep protecting her? It was her to begin with who got you two together. We’re just asking her to tell the truth.” She didn’t feel she was offside. She didn’t ask Luo Xiaolang to make up facts to help them.

“I don’t need her to do these things!” Yin Qin raised his voice, “Baixin, I already owe Luo Xiaolang a lot. I don’t want to keep using her innocence to reach my goals!”

“Do you really think Luo Xiaolang is that naïve?” Ji Baixin scoffed.

“I don’t want to argue with you about Luo Xiaolang.”

“She’s not so naïve! If she were, she wouldn’t have planned to have a baby tiger with you. If she were so naïve, she would have agreed to tell the truth. Yin Qin, why do you defend Luo Xiaolang so much? She’s not what we think she is…”

“Baixin!” Yin Qin cut her off, “Regardless of what she is, it has nothing to do with us. I’ve said before, let’s not pull Luo Xiaolang into our affairs.”

“I was just trying to help you. Since you’re so reluctant to accept my help, suit yourself.” Ji Baixin held back, not wanting to quarrel with Yin Qin like a shrew or speak ill behind people’s back.

If Yin Qin didn’t appreciate her help, there was no point in saying more.

Yin Qin tried to calm himself down, he said, “Baixin, I know you mean well, but I understand what kind of person Luo Xiaolang really is. I really don’t want to hurt Luo Xiaolang anymore. Let’s leave it at that for now and not bring it up in the future.”

“So you still think, I’m slandering Luo Xiaolang.” Ji Baixin muttered in a somewhat self-mocking tone.

“I don’t think you’re slandering her. You just don’t understand her.”

“One day, you’ll realize Luo Xiaolang is nothing like what you think!”

Yin Qin didn’t respond.

He didn’t want to know more about Luo Xiaolang.

The more he knew, the more he cared, and the more guilt and pain he felt.

He then shifted the conversational topic, “Baixin, we’re getting married in 5 days. Let’s not think about anything else and focus on the wedding.”

“Yes, we’re getting married in 5 days. But your parents haven’t discussed wedding plans with mine yet. My mom called me again to ask when they’ll talk about it. If they can’t reach an agreement, they said we shouldn’t get married. I’ve been thinking, should we really go ahead with the wedding?”

Having said that, she abruptly hung up the call.

Yin Qin also became somewhat infuriated and threw his phone aside, onto the dashboard.

He didn’t understand why he was feeling so pressured.

It felt like a mountain was crushing him, making it hard to breathe.

His car sped up, and he drove all the way to Luo Xiaolang’s apartment complex.

He entered the elevator.

As he watched the elevator numbers, his usual calm heartbeat began to accelerate.

He didn’t think he’d feel any different seeing Luo Xiaolang again, or expect any other reaction. But at this moment, he had to admit, he was nervous.

The mere thought of Luo Xiaolang, would cause a wave of palpitations that he couldn’t control!

How did this happen?!
