Chapter 71 - 71: 71: Second Trial (7) The Truth
Song Zhizhi looked at Xiaoqing with a cold gaze. “Xiaoqing, why are you framing me?
Xiaoqing’s body continued to shiver.
“Zhou Xiaoqing! Explain your actions clearly in court! ” Song Zhizhi’s voice raised a notch.
Xiaoqing was even scared to tears by Song Zhizhi’s intimidation, stuttering to explain, “It was Aunt Zhu who forced me, she threatened to sell me into prostitution in Africa if I didn’t do it. She threatened my parents and my family. My younger brother is only 8 years old, I didn’t want him to be hurt.”
Song Zhizhi cornered his lips, turning to Aunt Zhu.
Aunt Zhu at that moment was terrified. She watched Song Zhizhi with wide eyes, her face pale.
Song Zhizhi was about to speak.
From the plaintiff’s bench, Nie Xiaofei suddenly burst into tears yelling, “Aunt Zhu, what grudge or resentment do you have with me that you have to harm me like this, even stirring up discord between my sister and me? What are your motives? How can you be so vicious? Aren’t you afraid that your two sons will suffer divine retribution on your behalf?”
Nie Xiaofei’s words immediately turned the tables on Aunt Zhu. Others might not catch on, but Song Zhizhi understood clearly. Nie Xiaofei was threatening Aunt Zhu about her two sons, warning her to watch what she said.
After all these years, being with Nie Wenzhi allowed Nie Xiaofei to learn a lot. She was still capable of such strategy and it surprised Song Zhizhi.
Fortunately, Ji Baijian had thought of everything for her.
Song Zhizhi looked at Aunt Zhu coldly. “Aunt Zhu, you don’t have to answer immediately. Let me remind you of two things: First, perjury is a crime with punishment depending on the severity; second, plotting against Nie Xiaofei is a criminal act and there’s no doubt you’ll be faced with jail time; third, I have evidence to reveal the truth. So think carefully before you speak.”
“Objection.” Zhang Meng suddenly stood up from his seat.
Song Zhizhi frowns.
“I seriously suspect that the defendant is intentionally intimidating the suspect.”
“Counselor Zhang, am I intimidating? I’m merely providing a reminder. Furthermore, which of the three points I mentioned amounts to intimidation? Which isn’t the fact? The law clearly states it. Does it count as intimidation?”
Zhang Meng was about to retort.
Song Zhizhi didn’t give him a chance to speak, “Speaking of intimidation, I would say Nie Xiaofei’s threat to Aunt Zhu’s two sons truly constitutes intimidation.”
“I, I, I did not… I…” Nie Xiaofei was so nervous and scared that she stammered.
She really couldn’t handle the current Song Zhizhi.
In the past, she was able to get whatever she wanted by playing the victim. But now it seemed useless.
And with her mother not around, she was evidently at her wit’s end.
Song Zhizhi ignored Nie Xiaofei and turned to Aunt Zhu, “You may choose to remain silent for now. I’ll present my evidence first.”
With that said, Song Zhizhi took out an account record from his folder. “This is Liu Daming’s account, Aunt Zhu’s husband. On March 25, a lump sum of 200,000 suddenly appeared in the account.
Investigating the bank records, I found out that it was Aunt Zhu who deposited the cash into Liu
Daming’s account. Aunt Zhu, why suddenly is there extra money? Considering your salary from the Song family, you surely can’t have so much money. Do not tell me it’s from your salary savings because I have all the account details of your monthly salary which is saved in your own account.”
Aunt Zhu had lost all spirit due to Song Zhizhi’s remarks.
She collapsed onto the ground, weakly confessing, “I confess everything..”
