Chapter 32
“Everyone saw for themselves that you agreed to our compensation. Naturally, the punishment that Young Master Huo mentioned is forfeited.”
An Xiaowan’s face had an expression of shock. “Is that what you think? But Madam Du, how can I dare to defy Young Master Huo’s words? Don’t you take his words seriously?”
Everyone was taken aback.
What was she playing?
This was absolutely shameless!
“You!”
An Xiaowan spread out her hands in a shrug and laughed flamboyantly. “What I accepted was an apology from Madam Du. Everyone witnessed it. I hope you will not go back on your words.”
Huo Shen looked at An Xiaowan, the anger in his eyes slowly subsiding.
His profound, dark eyes were immersed deep in thought.
This woman… She was a lot more rebellious than he imagined.
While everyone was dumbfounded, An Xue was on the verge of insanity. Her face was distorted with rage as she glared at An Xiaowan.
“An Xiaowan, you’re going too far!”
An Xiaowan turned around. She flashed a ravishing smile, but her eyes were vicious as she looked at An Xue.
“Are you telling me you don’t wish to obey Young Master Huo?” An Xiaowan’s words were as thin as ice.
There was a moment of deadly silence.
With her drenched skirt freely swaying behind her like a fishtail, An Xiaowan spoke again, “Then let me give you a hand.”
Even before An Xiaowan’s words made sense to others, she stretched out her hands towards An Xue and gave a strong push.
“Ahh…!”
An Xiaowan had applied considerable strength in that push. An Xue fell straight into the pool.
Once more, large ripples formed on the water surface.
An Xue fell into the pool for the second time!
Everyone was stunned and stared at An Xiaowan with disbelief.
However, An Xiaowan was unperturbed by their stares and slowly walked back to Huo Shen’s side. She gently asked him, “Mr. Huo, shall we go?”
She spoke so softly that nobody else heard her.
The scene suddenly became chaotic.
Chen Yinian once again jumped in to rescue An Xue. Du Yanlan’s face was pale as a ghost. The sounds of murmurs erupted from the crowd.
While all this was going on, An Xiaowan left with Huo Shen.
To be discreet and low-key, An Xiaowan lagged a few steps behind him and went to the washroom on the way out, before slyly slipping out of the banquet hall.
But just as she took a detour and turned around a corner, someone suddenly appeared in the corridor and grabbed her wrist from behind.
When An Xiaowan turned around, she saw Chen Yinian, drenched and his face boiling with anger.
“An Xiaowan, I can understand if you are resentful about our past. But you can’t keep lashing out on An Xue like this for that matter!” Chen Yinian pushed her against the wall, his hand still holding onto her wrist. “No matter what you do, I will never be with you again!”
Looking into his fierce eyes, An Xiaowan was first startled, but then she burst out laughing.
“My dear ex-fiance, you think too much of yourself.” She leaned back against the wall and gave a lazy but amorous smile. “I have a tall, handsome, rich, and charming man supporting me now. Somebody you can never even dream of matching up to.”
Chen Yinian was stunned. An unknown rage suddenly spread in his heart, engulfing it with fire.
He tightened his hold on her hand.
“Who is it!” His voice was almost hoarse.
His mind silently thought,
“Which man managed to gain such praise from her?”
An Xiaowan was usually prideful and never complimented Huo Shen this way before.
“You don’t deserve to know.” An Xiaowan said haughtily and pushed his hand away.
With an air of arrogance, she walked away.
Afraid that Huo Shen would be angry for waiting too long. She recklessly made a turn, oblivious to the person who was standing around the corner.
She was taken by surprise when she suddenly walked straight into a muscular and sturdy chest.
