Chapter 262: Mechanical Ascension, Man-Beast Unity, True Dragon Descends (II)
Chapter 262: Mechanical Ascension, Man-Beast Unity, True Dragon Descends (II)
Starting at noon and continuing until dusk, he traveled over two thousand kilometers, reaching the deeper parts of the Yunwu Mountains once again.
"Hello, hello, calling Blackbird 2. This is White Dove. Have you found anything over there?"
"Hehe, I found a Mystical Mist Nine-Leaf Ginseng. It should bloom in about a month. I've already uploaded the data and sold it."
"Damn! How do you have such good luck?"
Li Fei, feeling envious, ended the communication and switched to another channel. "Hello, hello, calling Sky Monkey. Please respond."
"Sky Monkey here. What's up, White Dove? Found anything?"
Li Fei said smugly, "I spotted a level 5 mutated beast earlier and sold the information. What about you? Any intel to share?"
"Nothing significant on my end so far."
"Alright."
Just as Li Fei ended the call, he suddenly sensed something. He instantly vanished, reappearing dozens of meters away.
"Li Fei, what a cautious reaction," Chen Chu remarked, a hint of surprise in his eyes as he stood under a large tree about a dozen meters from where Li Fei had been.
Of course, it wasn't Li Fei's explosive speed that surprised him, but rather his instinctive reaction.
When Chen Chu had deliberately released a wisp of his aura, Li Fei didn’t turn around upon sensing something behind him, but immediately moved from his original position.
"Oh, it's Brother Chen. You gave me quite a scare. I got such a strong sense of danger that I thought some powerful creature was approaching," Li Fei said, breathing a sigh of relief.
Chen Chu smiled. "Do you have any resource information on hand?"
Having walked this far without encountering a single level 5 or higher mutated beast was quite frustrating for Chen Chu.
Li Fei shook his head. "I've only been in the deeper part of the mountains for half a day. I don't have any high-value information at the moment. Sometimes, with bad luck, it can take ten days to half a month to find something valuable."
"Alright. If you come across a level 6 mutated beast or a distorted hidden realm, please let me know. The price is negotiable."
"No problem. I'll notify you first."
After parting ways with Li Fei, Chen Chu disappeared into the misty depths of the forest.
As he prepared to continue enhancing himself, external events were escalating due to the recent demon cult invasion.
Attempting to infiltrate the mutated beast battlefields and target its deeply monitored areas required not only detailed intelligence, but also precise cross-dimensional positioning.
Given that these battlefields were a major resource point controlled and strictly monitored by various nations, obtaining spatial coordinates for these overlapping areas was no simple feat. Consequently, investigations had uncovered some leads through a process of elimination and backtracking.
Five days later, in the West Meng Empire, a small, ten-meter-long futuristic aircraft was rapidly flying at low altitude over the wilderness.
Suddenly, flashes of light appeared in the distance, and a barrage of air-to-air missiles shot toward the aircraft at even greater speed, emitting sharp whistles.
"Damn, we've been caught," a middle-aged man inside the aircraft muttered, his expression changing slightly. With a mental command, the small futuristic aircraft sharply ascended skyward.
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
Seven missiles streaked past below, leaving long trails of white smoke in the air, and then they too turned skyward in pursuit.
With both energy and infrared lock-on, the small aircraft couldn't shake off the homing missiles.
The middle-aged man issued another mental command, and the aircraft flipped to dive toward the ground just as it reached an altitude of one thousand meters.
The missiles, now at over a thousand meters, traced a reverse U-shape in the air and continued their pursuit toward the ground as well.
One, two, three...
As the rapidly approaching ground filled his view, Ike silently counted, this time using both hands to physically pull the controls.
In an instant, the aircraft leveled out ten meters above the ground, skimming over the wilderness at high speed and creating a rolling wave of dust behind it.
Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!
The descending missiles couldn't turn in time, hitting the ground and causing violent explosions that formed massive fireballs.
Just as Ike was relieved to have evaded the missile lock, his face changed again. Three futuristic fighter jets had surrounded him. The large-caliber machine guns on their wings lit up, and a barrage of bullets roared out.
Oh no!
Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!
Fifty-millimeter armor-piercing explosive rounds hit the ground, causing violent explosions that carved a path of destruction as they chased the aircraft into the canyon ahead.
Just as he descended into the canyon, the runes on Ike's aircraft glowed brightly. In a series of transforming clicks and clacks reminiscent of a Transformer, the aircraft morphed into a ten-meter-tall gray mecha.
Simultaneously, the three pursuing fighter jets also transformed upon landing, each becoming a formidable fifteen-meter-tall mecha. The engines roared, spewing out waves of scorching air, as the three mechas landed at three positions around the canyon, encircling Ike below.
Unlike the mechas from sci-fi movies, these four were covered in various rune patterns, with many parts clearly made from mutated creature materials. Inside each of the three mechas were powerful cultivators, their true power and consciousness seamlessly integrated with their machines.
The silver mecha, with a cannon on its shoulder, a fifteen-meter-long ship-cutting sword in its hand, and missiles on its waist, emitted a humming vibration. "Ike, you can't escape. Surrender now. This time, your family, including the Vorles Group, will be eradicated. No one will escape judgment. Anyone who dares betray humanity will surely die."
Ike's expression turned grim. "Surrendering is not an option."
"Reite, enough talking. Let's take him down."
Just as the red mecha finished its sentence, battle erupted.
Roar! Roar! Roar!!
In the North Lin Empire, inside a dilapidated martial arts academy, corpses littered the floor. A humanoid figure, five meters tall, covered in scales and with a face resembling that of a human and a tiger, was surrounded by four figures dressed in military uniforms.
All five radiated a powerful aura, but the aura emitted by the four military figures was particularly formidable. Each person also exhibited some non-human characteristics. Some had scales on their faces, some had horns protruding from their heads, and others had sharp claws.
Surrounded by four adversaries of equal skill, the humanoid figure with a tiger-like face pleaded desperately. "Please, spare my son. He's only five years old, he has nothing to do with this."
"The relevance of that will be decided from above. But the fact remains that you, from the Roaring Tiger Martial Arts Academy, colluded with the demon cults and betrayed humanity by selling them information. Now, I will execute you in the name of the special forces, including everyone involved in this incident."
"No! I, I only shared some irrelevant information! You can't sentence us to death!"
"Hmph! Because of the information you sold, over a dozen highly talented students of our country have died. Executing you on the spot is already showing you mercy."
"What! Only a dozen died?" The despair and indignation on the humanoid figure's face were evident.
"Kill him!"
In the Intelligence Department of the East Xia Empire, a staff member spoke up.
"Report, we have discovered a covert network within our country. Two more have been found in the Yueshan and Baihu nations, and both have been eradicated.
"A total of 173 individuals were involved in this incident, spanning 4 ordinary companies with transcendent qualifications. The company personnel were infiltrated while entering and exiting the mythical world.
"The information has been transmitted to the base over there, and we will intensify our scrutiny."
The stern-faced middle-aged man at the main seat nodded slowly. "Continue to closely monitor all parties. As for this incident, don't dwell on it too much. The War of Civilizations has been going on for over two decades. Mutual infiltration between us and the Purgatory Demon Clan is inevitable."
While humanity was purging traitors and spies internally, deep in the ocean, the Single-horned Kun had been venturing through the sea in search of treasures.
It suddenly found itself face-to-face with a fearsome dragon.
