Chapter 213: Suppression of Purgatory, Invincible Fighting Spirit (I)
Chapter 213: Suppression of Purgatory, Invincible Fighting Spirit (I)
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Mutated creatures’ heads exploded, while snake and lizard-like creatures were cleaved in half. Amid the black and red radiance, devastation reigned supreme, crumbling everything in its path.
It wasn't just the mutated creatures that were going mad; the ferocity, tyranny, and destructive desires that Chen Chu received from his avatar were also being fully unleashed.
As his avatar grew stronger, and half of Chen Chu's consciousness slowly transformed into a colossal beast, the desire for destruction within him intensified.
Previously, reading Daoist and Buddhist scriptures borrowed from Luo Fei had had some effect, but it was minimal. Compared to that, releasing his inner desire for destruction through slaughter was more effective.
This was one of the reasons why, upon arriving at the mutated beast battlefield, Chen Chu had been fully unleashing his brutality when making his way to or entering the mountains.
Even though he was now consumed by madness, however, he wasn't completely blinded by his desire for destruction. He still maintained a sliver of clarity, his expression slightly sobering.
His true power was depleting too rapidly. The battle had erupted less than twenty minutes ago, yet he had already slain hundreds of low-level mutated creatures, depleting half of the robust Dragon Elephant True Power within him through the continuous expenditure of the halberd light combat skills.
This couldn't go on.
With this thought, Chen Chu's mind stirred, and the true power circulating outside his body dimmed, retreating back within him until there was only a thin layer over his battle armor.
Simultaneously, the light on the Eight Desolations Purgatory Halberd abruptly contracted to a mere centimeter, retaining only its basic coverage and enhancement of the weapon and its blades.
As his aura weakened, the mutated creatures, already frenzied with bloodlust, grew even more excited.
Roar! Roar! Roar!
A dense horde of mutated creatures lunged toward Chen Chu, having long forgotten their initial intent to devour the flesh of the Long-haired Rampage Ape's carcass. Yet, they were met with the terrifying halberd wielded at supersonic speed.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Chen Chu stood atop a ten-meter-high boulder, wildly swinging the halberd. Each strike sent incoming mutated creatures flying with sharp thunderous roars.
Even the level 4 mutated creatures, measuring dozens of meters long and weighing dozens of tons, shattered under the fearsome halberd, their armor breaking and flesh exploding as they were sent flying.
Meanwhile, within Chen Chu's body, the fifth stage Dragon Elephant Tyrant Body Art rampaged madly, rapidly replenishing his true power by absorbing and refining the free-floating transcendent energy.
As he continued his slaughter, the pile of mutated beast carcasses at his feet grew larger. At the same time , as he madly wielded the halberd, Chen Chu's comprehension of the Eight Desolations Purgatory Halberd deepened. His eyes, obscured by blood-red, vaguely saw the purgatory, and the savage mutated creatures rushing toward him were the demons of this hell.
The Eight Desolations, the Purgatory!
Defeating the Eight Desolations alone was not enough. There had to be the demonic intent to dominate and suppress the infernal purgatory, and condense an invincible fighting spirit like a god or demon.
With his comprehension deepening under the frenzy of slaughter, an invisible and terrifying intent began to condense around Chen Chu. As the halberd swung, a faint red light entwined around it.
It was the substantive aura of bloodthirst, the resentful and violent thoughts emanating from the carcasses of the mutated creatures and merging with the steaming blood vapor.
Usually, these intangible malevolent auras would dissipate into the air with the wind, but now, they surged toward Chen Chu like birds returning to their nests, converging into wisps of red mist.
Chen Chu's aura grew increasingly terrifying, resembling a demonic deity consumed by frenzied slaughter. Yet, despite his escalating aura of terror, the incoming mutated creatures showed no trace of fear. All that emanated from them was madness and brutality, their eyes turning increasingly bloodshot.
Unbeknownst to them, a faint crimson bloodthirsty aura shrouded the entire cliff below. As these mutated creatures drew near, they lost their rationality, leaving only their primal instincts.
Even the moon hanging in the sky exuded a red hue, doubling in size, with a faint ominous double reflection along its edges.
"Under the Blood Moon, the beasts go mad. Another year has passed, huh?"
In a military base thousands of kilometers away, a middle-aged man stood on the rooftop, gazing up at the moon emitting a faint red glow and sighing softly.
Although this bright red moon appeared to belong to their world, it was actually the reflection of the Blood Moon from another realm. This crimson moon illuminated the Jiuhuan Mountain Range, the vast plains in the distance, and even the Yunwu Mountain Range spanning thousands of kilometers.
Every mutated creature grew restless. Encountering each other would trigger explosive battles, as if the entire world had gone mad.
This restlessness persisted until the darkest hour before dawn, when the bloodlight that had been obscuring the moon slowly faded. The restless atmosphere pervading the mutated beast battlefield just as gradually dissipated.
Boom!
The blood-stained halberd swept through at supersonic speed, obliterating half of the body of an eight-meter-long mutated beast resembling a japalure with a single strike.
Roar! Roar!
The surrounding dozen or so mutated creatures emitted fearful growls, gazing at the dark crimson figure standing amid the sea of carcasses and blood with panic evident in their eyes.
Under the overwhelming aura of invincibility and endless slaughter, the remaining mutated creatures’ morale weakened, and they were unable to help but slowly retreat before abruptly turning and fleeing.
In just a few breaths, over a dozen mutated creatures dashed back into the forest, disappearing into the darkness.
Gone? Chen Chu looked around in bewilderment.
His entire body was covered in the blood of mutated creatures, some parts of his battle armor even bearing scratches left by claws.
After a night of endless frenzied combat, Chen Chu's true power had long been depleted. In the end, he had been relying almost entirely on his physical brute strength to wield the heavy halberd in battle.
The entire mountainside was covered with the broken bodies of mutated beasts, forming piles that flowed down the slope like a small river of blood with an overwhelming stench. The bodies accumulated beneath Chen Chu's feet reached dozens of meters high, the densely packed bones and flesh resembling a grotesque, hellish landscape.
As he stood among the carcasses and blood, he exuded an overwhelming aura of dominance, akin to an invincible king.
As he watched the rising sun slowly appear on the horizon, an indescribable sense of realization surged within Chen Chu, a formless aura condensing around him.
Deep within his consciousness, the Dragon Elephant formed by the transformation of his spiritual will roared, causing ripples through his mind. Faintly, a pure, domineering, and invincible will was starting to form.
Except...
Phew!
Exhaling slowly, Chen Chu's eyes revealed a faint disappointment. "Not enough, it's still lacking."
Just a moment ago, he had nearly condensed an invincible Battle Will. However, it seemed that due to an insufficient martial foundation, he had fallen short by just a bit, unable to elevate it further.
In the end, that embryonic Battle Will slowly merged back into his body, waiting for the next complete eruption.

When Chen Chu returned to the base, it was already five in the afternoon of the third day. He resembled a diligent, albeit blood-drenched, ant as he dragged the twenty-meter-long pile of mutated beast carcasses to the logistics department warehouse.
Bang!
As Chen Chu deactivated the anti-gravity disks, the pile of carcasses tumbled to the ground.
There was the over twenty-meter-tall Long-haired Rampage Ape, the ten-meter-tall Single-horned Beast, and the remnants of several level 4 mutated creatures, along with many bloody miscellaneous beast parts.
Then, he threw out over ten different-sized mutated beast materials from the Sumeru Bracelet, including horns, large sharp teeth, and crystalline tail spikes.
While Chen Chu had completely obliterated most of the mutated beasts during last night’s frenzied battle, some parts of them still remained. In the end, he had chosen to discard the carcass of the level 3 Single-horned Beast and scavenge the battlefield for more valuable materials to bring back instead.
"Hiss! Young friend, you really brought back a haul," Hong Shan exclaimed, looking at the scattered remains of mutated beasts on the ground and the sheer amount of blood on the student in front of him.
Chen Chu nodded. "I got lucky on this trip into the Yanwu Mountains, and killed a peak level 5 mutated beast. On my way back, I encountered a riot of mutated creatures last night, so I had to take care of them."
Hong Shan's expression froze slightly, and he remarked, "A rampage of mutated creatures? It was the Blood Moon last night!"
"The Blood Moon?" Chen Chu glanced at him with a questioning expression.
Hong Shan replied, "The Blood Moon is a phenomenon unique to the southern mutated beast battlefield, occurring once a year without a fixed time. It's said to be a projection of the Blood Moon from the mythical world. Under its light, mutated creatures become more restless and bloodthirsty. Once they smell blood, they go crazy."
"No wonder..." Chen Chu sighed. He had wondered why those mutated creatures last night had seemed completely unafraid of death, and had just been becoming increasingly frenzied the more he killed. It turned out to be a case of rather unfortunate timing.
Exhaling deeply, Chen Chu politely said, "Sorry to trouble you, but could you please help me calculate how much we have here?"
"No trouble at all, it's my job." Hong Shan then called over two workers to help, and they quickly calculated the reward.
The peak level 5 Long-haired Rampage Ape was worth 155 points. Originally, due to the amount of damage to its chest, it would have only been worth 145 points, but the long fur on its body and its ability to interfere with spatial energy added 10. Unfortunately, they were almost useless without the enhancement of the Rampage Ape's innate ability, and would need to be collected and refined with a special method to be made useful.
In addition, the level 4 Single-horned Beast was only worth 50 points, due to the destruction of said horn. Meanwhile, the various other miscellaneous materials and broken carcasses added up to 87 points together, for a final total of 292 points. With the 33 remaining points in his account, he now had 325.
