Chapter 220: Devastation
Chapter 220: Devastation
Still more was left before the imprint could complete and showcase its destructive might.
Plasma Predator could sense the ever-growing danger posed by that imprint and moved closer to interrupt Jay before he could finish it.
As soon as it neared Jay, an arrow flew over and hit the Plasma Predator, not just anywhere but on the Essence Crystal.
The cracks spread even further. Three more arrows and the monster would be done for.
The monster was startled at how Dante was still alive after being pierced in the heart and blood pouring all over.
That didn't stop it from shooting a log-sized Plasma Energy beam at ground-stricken Dante as he struggled to draw another arrow to shoot.
Before he could release the arrow, the energy attack obliterated his right arm and leg, along with most of the right portion of his body.
Plasma Predator didn't pay him attention anymore as every passing millisecond inched closer towards its death.
Again, it prepared to strike Jay but faced a déjà vu, where another arrow landed right on the Essence Crystal, stretching the cracks even further.
Even with his right arm and leg missing, Dante positioned the bow's grip beneath his left foot, pulled the string with his left arm and shot an arrow made of Spirit Energy.
The arrow aggravated Plasma Predator as its Essence Crystal was on the verge of shattering. Out of instinct, it was about to shoot an energy attack at Dante and kill him for good.
However, the monster regained sense after looking at the bloodied individual, who let out a struggling smile while staring at something on the top of its head.
Feeling something ominous, it ignored Dante and turned to Jay, only to see the complicated silver patterns wriggle within the circular imprint and emanate a strange medium, which painted the entire Tournament Island with shades of silver and black.
Every other colour lost its vibrancy. Noise dulled to the point it vanished out of existence.
Not a single entity on the Island, animate or inanimate, moved as much as an inch. That included the Plasma Predator and the thousands of Alpha Chosen as well.
It wasn't that they didn't, but they couldn't. No one lost control of their bodies but were confined in an unknown medium that replaced air.
Although everyone could still sense their bodies, that couldn't be said the same with the respective elements under their control.
Whether it be Elemental, Weapon, Martial or Variant Innate Talent users, no one could manifest or even sense their respective affinity in the presence of the strange medium.
Within the altered reality, no one was able to move; no one except for Jay.
The Origin Glaive Replica in his hands crumbled to scraps after the three seconds it took to engrave the circular silver imprint.
With that, the skill was left stagnated without the launching action at the end.
The only one unaffected by the strange medium was Jay himself.
However, engraving the Origin Imprint took a heavy toll on his body, and he was on the verge of collapsing from exhaustion.
He knew that if he didn't do anything, the skill effect would soon wear off, and he would be at the monster's mercy.
Gritting his teeth, Jay balled his fist and drew it as hard as possible while coating his entire right arm with Origin Energy.
Although he felt unsettled to directly use his arm to come in contact with the Origin Imprint, he still went ahead.
At the moment of contact, a bright silver flashed, basking the entire Tournament Island. An ancient and ominous voice accompanied the blinding light flash as the words 'Heaven' and 'Breaker' reverberated within the minds of every living being on Tournament Island.
The voice alone shook their souls and terrified everyone, Alpha Chosen and monsters alike.
After what felt like a lifetime, the blinding flash faded away, and so did the strange medium that held everyone in place.
Before they could let out a sigh of relief from gaining freedom over their movements, a sight of absolute devastation welcomed them.
Like a slice in a pizza, one-sixth of the Tournament Island vanished into thin air. No dust, no debris, no rubble, just plain disappearance.
With the ground no more, the gaseous clouds beneath could be seen filling the floating Island's destroyed area.
A few quickly pulled themselves from the awe of the devastation they witnessed and shifted their attention to the one who caused it.
With a pale face, Jay stood while pressing his left palm over his right shoulder, atleast where it was supposed to be.
The impact from deploying <HEAVEN BREAKER> with his bare arm had destroyed it, and even his right shoulder bore the burnt as well.
While applying pressure over the cavity, Jay pulled out a dozen Stage-3 Vitality fruits and squashed them into pulp using Olivia's telekinetic abilities.
While gulping down the extracted pulp, Jay glanced at a load of notifications that filled his vision.
