Chapter 404: Are you Rong Yan?
“Are you Rong Yan?”
Was this an attempt to pick a fight?
Rong Yan unexpectedly found two familiar faces beside her.
One was Fu Ya, and the other was Xia Xue. They stood, one to the left and one to the right, of Yan Hong, just like two green leaves flanking the red flower in the center.
Fu Ya was an impatient person and immediately stepped forward obsequiously, acting high and mighty upon seeing Yan Hong’s challenging tone. “Hong is asking you a question! Are you deaf?”
The company had given Rong Yan such a great opportunity to show her face, and she did not have a part in it—how could she swallow this grievance?
She had wanted to ask for a solo performance, to sing or dance, just like Rong Yan. But the company had refused her!
Angry, she used her family’s connections to latch onto Yan Hong, a top-tier celebrity, to ride on the coattails of being a backup dancer. Backup dancing usually required two people, and the resource she had worked hard to mooch had to be shared with someone else! After much consideration, she decided to split it with Xia Xue, who usually fawned over her. Although she had no choice, she was still very upset about it! And just when Rong Yan appeared, Fu Ya was sure to vent her frustration on her!
Rong Yan glanced at her indifferently and snapped back, “You know she was asking me, not you. I thought what your ears heard was different from what I heard.”
“What do you mean by that!” Fu Ya’s face turned red in an instant, her eyes filled with rage as if she wanted to pounce and bite Rong Yan to death. Her makeup could not hide the flush on her face.
Damn it, she accused her of being deaf and this woman dared to mock her in public!
Estelle did not like her to begin with, and now she liked her even less. She protected Rong Yan behind her and glared sternly at the provoker, warning, “Fu Ya, the event is about to start, are you sure you want to cause a scene here and give other companies a laugh?”
“Estelle, it was her who insulted me first, how can you turn it around on me? Being biased is one thing, but this is just unfair!” complained Fu Ya, with her face turning green with anger.
Xia Xue immediately came out to play the peacemaker, pulling at her sleeve and putting on a wronged expression, “Ya, let it go.”
“Why should I!”
“We shouldn’t cause trouble for our seniors.”
Fu Ya’s face showed unwillingness, but with a humph, she forcefully suppressed it. However, her expression made it clear she was still very unhappy.
Yan Hong glanced at Xia Xue, who was ‘obedient and sensible’ but actually trying to egg her on, scaring Xia Xue into immediately lowering her head, putting away her scheming, and clinging to the clueless Fu Ya’s arm without daring to speak. Only then did she raise her chin and say arrogantly, “Since you are Rong Yan, I won’t bother sending someone to find you. Have they told you that I need the band that was arranged for you? No problem, right?”
She had a good relationship with Rong Weiwei and had heard that this petty woman had treated Rong Weiwei very badly. She could not help standing up for her friend, looking to knock down her opponent a peg or two.
“If I say there’s a problem, would you give the band back to me?” Rong Yan asked, looking at her calmly.
Yan Hong had only asked her casually, just for formality’s sake. She had not expected Rong Yan to actually talk back.
Her expression suddenly turned cold, and she stared at Rong Yan unhappily, “What, are you trying to compete with me?”
Estelle frowned, displeased with her aggressive attitude.
Others might not know Rong Yan’s background, but she knew better than anyone. With Rong Yan’s powerful support, who in the entertainment circle would dare to be so arrogant?
After all, did Yan Hong not just bully them because she thought they lacked the backing and background?
