Chapter 311: Realizing He is No Longer in the Study Room
Inside Dihor Garden, Rong Yan finally managed to lull the excited little one to sleep after a whole day.
She took a bath, and after washing up, she changed into her pajamas and went to the living room to drink a glass of water. Then she looked at the study, which was still quiet, and blinked.
Li Shengxiao had been on the phone for an inordinately long time, hadn’t he? Three hours already, and it seemed like he hadn’t come out at all…
Just now, while she was putting Little Baby to sleep, she seriously reflected on her own reactions and responses earlier and couldn’t help but feel a sense of guilt.
After living together for this period, getting to know him, especially after he had done so much for her, it would be a lie to say she wasn’t moved. It’s just that she hadn’t thought about what to do if they turned out to be incompatible in the end. He suddenly asked that question, and her first reaction was indeed to part amicably.
But as boyfriend and girlfriend, she still felt that she could have been more tactful. As a girlfriend, even saying some sweet nothings to appease her boyfriend was expected.
Rong Yan was a little embarrassed; mainly because she was used to being alone and hadn’t adapted to being his girlfriend. Everything was still a learning process, and sometimes she inevitably couldn’t react quickly enough.
Rong Yan deeply reviewed her previous behavior and turned on the coffee machine, planning to brew a cup of coffee to take over to him.
The coffee machine made a rumbling noise, and she glanced over at the study again, but there was still no movement.
The sound in the living room was so loud, Li Shengxiao couldn’t possibly have not heard it. Could it be that he was angry?
Rong Yan scratched the back of her head and felt a bit of a headache.
After the coffee was ready, she picked up the cup and walked to the door of the silent study. She knocked twice.
“Li Shengxiao, I’ve made you a cup of coffee.”
There was no response from inside.
Rong Yan raised her hand and knocked again, “The coffee’s just been made, I’ll bring it in for you, otherwise it will get cold and won’t taste good.”
Still no movement inside.
Rong Yan found it strange and turned the doorknob.
She saw that the spacious study was empty, utterly devoid of people!
How could there be no one?
Rong Yan put the coffee on top of the desk. The laptop on the desk was turned off, and the documents were neatly stacked to the side, not looking like they had been touched…
Was Li Shengxiao not at home?
When had he gone out?
Rong Yan carefully thought back.
It seems that besides the time when he left her bedroom to say that there was an important call to make, she had been outside watching cartoons with Little Baby. If he had gone out, she would have definitely seen it.
If he didn’t leave during that time, then he must have left while she was putting Little Baby to sleep.
But she had put Little Baby to sleep at nine o’clock, so he couldn’t possibly have left just half an hour ago; otherwise, the things in here wouldn’t show signs of being untouched!
Rong Yan’s mind uncontrollably flashed to the last look the man had given her, his eyes deeply profound as if desiring an answer, yet he had decisively stopped her before she could respond, refusing to hear her answer.
She didn’t know why, but suddenly her chest felt stuffy, and there was an indescribable feeling.
She looked around the spotless study, bit her lip, returned to the living room, found her phone, hesitated, then made a call to Cui Jiangjing.
The call connected almost instantly.
“Hello.”
Rong Yan answered, “Doctor Cui, I’m sorry for calling so late. I wanted to ask if Li Shengxiao is with you?”
“Didn’t Shengxiao go back?” Cui Jiangjing cursed in shock, seeming even more anxious than her, “He hasn’t returned yet?”
