Chapter 279: Caught a big handle!
“This is all a misunderstanding, and I’ll arrange a time to explain everything to her,” Rong Yan said.
Xin Lanye snorted at her words, “If you can make Rong Yan withdraw the lawsuit, the other party won’t prosecute you mercilessly!”
“My sister and I do have a bit of a misunderstanding…”
“Don’t try to pacify me with that, I know what’s going on with the Rong Family better than you do! I don’t want to get involved in your family’s mess, but let me make myself clear, if your problems affect Mufeng’s future prospects, I won’t hesitate to make you leave his side!”
Rong Weiwei’s facade was ruthlessly torn away, her pale face turning shades of red and white with embarrassment. Biting her lip, she said, “Aunt, I didn’t expect things to turn out this way. I’ll resolve this matter as soon as possible, it won’t affect Mufeng. I’m his girlfriend and I feel worse than anyone else about him being dragged into this. I hope you can understand how I feel.”
Xin Lanye was aware that her son still had feelings for Weiwei. The incident had happened, and making a fuss about it would only make Mufeng think she was being too harsh. She reined in her temper and coolly issued her final ultimatum, “Since you’ve said this, I’ll give you one more chance. Weiwei, don’t disappoint me again. Mufeng is destined to follow in his father’s footsteps, and he absolutely cannot have any blemishes at this time. You’d better handle this well!”
In truth, Rong Weiwei had no idea how to make Rong Yan withdraw the lawsuit. Yet, facing Xin Lanye’s forceful demeanor, she had no choice but to swallow her pride and say, “Aunt, rest assured, I’ll resolve this matter as soon as possible.”
“It’s best that you do!”
After leaving the CEO’s office, Rong Weiwei was weighed down with heavy thoughts.
“How did it go, vivi, what did Mr. Xin say?” Her agent approached her as soon as she returned, asking worriedly.
Rong Weiwei was so distraught, she sat down in a chair and ignored him, “It’s nothing.”
“How can it be nothing? Ai Mi personally asked you to go up, could it be…” The agent hesitated before continuing with a toughened resolve, “Could it be about the KT lawsuit?”
Rong Weiwei immediately looked at him.
Feeling the sharpness of her gaze, the agent shrank his neck and explained in a low voice, “I just got a call from a reporter friend, and I found out that Nick Studio has filed a lawsuit against us. Do you think you should reach out to Rong Yan privately?”
He was nervously suggesting, unable to hide his urgency, “The best solution now is to make the other party withdraw the lawsuit, otherwise, vivi, your reputation will definitely be affected by this incident. Many of the endorsement contracts we’ve signed require no scandals during the endorsement period.”
Rong Weiwei’s already troubled mood grew even worse upon hearing his words, frowning as she cut him off, “Do you think I don’t know that?! The problem is, how do I even find her? Do you think it will work if I do?!”
“But…” If they didn’t reach out now, things would get troublesome on their end.
If the endorsements were impacted, film and television resources would suffer as well, and Rong Weiwei’s standing in the industry would no longer be secure.
Rong Weiwei didn’t want to hear another ‘but’ and stopped him, “Enough! If you can’t think of a solution, then stop making excuses!”
Just then, her phone suddenly rang.
She glanced at the caller ID, her eyes lighting up as she stood and answered the call, “Hello. Did you find it?”
Whatever was said on the other end made her eyes sparkle with joy as she responded, “Good! Send me what you’ve found, and I’ll transfer the money into your account immediately!”
After hanging up, the gloom on her face vanished, replaced by an impatient eagerness, her eyes gleaming as she lifted the corners of her mouth.
Rong Yan, you’ve just given me a substantial handle on you this time!
