Chapter 330: Wind Shadow
Both of his opponents were not weak. One was unexpectedly killed, but the remaining one proved troublesome. After disposing of him, Li Yao felt a hint of relaxation.
Then he discovered a special chest in the tree. His brief excitement made him focus entirely on the chest. As a result, he didn’t react until the dagger hit the back of his skull.
The current situation was that he only had two-thirds of his health left, and he couldn’t locate his enemy. Therefore, Li Yao could only think of two types of thieves.
One was the Stealth Thieves. These thieves have mastered invisibility to an incredible extent, making them hard to find and allowing them to stealth three times in battle. Facing these thieves is extremely annoying. If you can’t kill them in one hit, they’d escape and may even launch a surprise attack at the most unexpected times, taking down players who have let their guard down.
The other was the Wind Shadow Thieves. They are skilled in using tools and spells, and uses techniques like Shadow Dance to counter enemies. They excel in control and buffing, their attacks are average, but if you get careless, they will control you and finish you off in style.
However, both thieves have one critical feature, one is good at invisibility, and the other is adept at blending into the environment to avoid detection.
But, after Li Yao performed Shadow Roll, seeing the incoming Hook Lock, he instantly recognized his opponent as a Wind Shadow Thief.
The flying Hook Lock bathed in a green sheen. This was not an ordinary Hook Lock—it radiated with magic and did not move in a straight line, twisting like a whirlwind.
The Hook Lock was too quick. Li Yao was still rolling when the Hook Lock hooked onto his equipment.
Just like when he used the Magic Spider Silk to control others, the same trick was now used against him.
In the moment when he was controlled by the Hook Lock, Li Yao was bound by a whirlwind, unable to draw his weapon.
The thief’s body, however, flew athwart at him like an arrow by drawing in the Hook Lock carrying a dagger. It gleamed with a peculiar red light, which seemed highly unusual.
Scarlet Poison!
Li Yao initially intended to take the hit of this attack, mount a counterattack after the control ended. He knew that his melee attacks were not weak at all, but the eerie glow on the dagger informed him that it was smeared with Scarlet Poison.
This poison not only reduced health points, but more importantly, it caused nerve paralysis and greatly reduced agility.
Just a brief encounter and Li Yao had already determined that she was an expert player. Well-planned, as if every move was calculated.
More often than not, he was the one making such calculated moves. But this time, because of his negligence, he was suppressed and had no chance to counterattack.
Ding…
Sparks flew as the dagger collided with his magic weapon. Making use of the momentum, the thief’s body performed an agile flip.
With a slight tap on Li Yao’s magic weapon with her toes, she bounded back as agilely as a fish.
She landed almost ten yards away. A trace of frustration flashed in her eyes: “You’re quick to react. Indeed, no bluster without merit.”
Li Yao, who was originally planning to eliminate the suppression and continue attacking, slightly furrowed his brows. There was obviously more meaning to her words. He quickly checked the opponent’s information.
Sad Song of One Night. Another strange game ID. Such a powerful character, why wasn’t she famous in his previous life?
“Do you know me?” Li Yao still asked this question.
The female thief revealed her pointed ears. Combined with her figure, it was evident she was a High Elf. However, she wore a black mask, making her face indiscernible.
Still, judging by her impressive figure displayed in her leather armor and her beautiful eyes that seemed somewhat severe, it was clear that she was a beautiful woman.
Sad Song of One Night was usually leaning forward, like a cheetah ready to pounce, but seeing Li Yao not disabling the suppression, her eyes flashed with surprise, and she straightened her body. However, the dagger in her right hand was still gleaming with a red light.
“The Beast King’s name is well-known. Don’t you agree, Prairie Fire?”
Li Yao’s eyes narrowed unexpectedly. He didn’t expect to be recognized. Li Yao smiled and said:”You have mistaken me for someone else.”
“Really? As a Beast King Hunter, you can manipulate elite players without using a pet, and are proficient with a bow and arrow to such an extent. I don’t believe there’s anyone else besides Prairie Fire.”
“That might not be true. Ancient God is a place where numerous hidden experts reside. Your skills are also extraordinary, yet you remain unknown.”
“True.” A soft chuckle came from Sad Song of One Night: “If it’s purely based on skills, I can’t say for sure. But someone who is skillful, narcissistic and loves to show off? That’s undoubtedly unique to you.”
“Cough… cough…” Li Yao awkwardly chuckled, raised his brow, and said: “In that case, I guess it’s my turn to send you off.”
Clack… clack…
The Mechanical Snake had locked onto Sad Song of One Night. As he lifted the suppression, Li Yao pulled the trigger of his pistol.
Bang…
Sad Song of One Night’s body was ripped apart by the bullet.
“I’m right here!”
Sad Song of One Night’s blurry figure appeared behind Li Yao, her dagger aimed at the back of his skull.
Li Yao executed a backward leap as he pulled the trigger of his gun. Simultaneously, he swiftly turned around, his body flying horizontally.
Her dagger, glowing in red, brushed across his chest and hit the ground, while Li Yao’s body had already collided with Sad Song of One Night, both of them sent flying by the force of the leap.
“I won’t fall that easily.”
At the same time, Li Yao gripped his short sword and stabbed lightning-fast at her throat.
Ding…
A trace of a ripple flashed in Sad Song of One Night’s eyes. She had personally seen Li Yao instantly kill the Priest of Moon with a single strike. She didn’t dare to take this attack. She quickly parried and deflected the short sword with her two daggers.
“You’ll still die!”
While Sad Song of One Night was blocking the short sword, her cloak broke into strips like ribbons, wrapping around Li Yao like spider silk.
Spider Dance Technique!
“Small tricks.”
Li Yao performed Shadow Roll, making use of the force from the weapon collision. As his body was still spinning, he reloaded his pistol, and as his body turned around, he pulled the trigger.
Phh…
The figure of Sad Song of One Night dispersed like wind.
“That’s the second one. Given your level, you probably don’t have a third substitute. Your doom will come with the next one.” Li Yao landed steadily, blowing away the smoke from the muzzle of his gun.
“You’re too arrogant,” mumbled Sad Song of One Night, her voice echoing from an unknown location: “The outcome is still undecided.”
Li Yao shook his head and said: “I wasn’t prepared at the beginning, which put me at a slight disadvantage momentarily. But you missed your chance to kill me. Now that I know what kind of thief you are, you won’t be stirring any ripples.”
“What, you finally can’t resist summoning your pet?” Sad Song of One Night, hiding not far from Li Yao, her keen eyes watching Li Yao, ready to attack at any time.
“Wrong. While you are elusive, you’re merely that. You cannot pose a deadly threat to me, so I don’t need to use my pet.” …
