Chapter 316: The Lurking Crisis
Against this boss, the Hydra’s regular attacks can only inflict around eight hundred damage. Li Yao has the second highest damage after the Hydra, followed by the Arrow Tower.
The pet Little Elves can only cause three hundred damage, which is considered pretty decent.
Although the Hydra is not a tank-type pet, due to its high damage and the taunting ability of the Repair Robot, aggro is relatively stable.
More importantly, the trio of Li Yao are always hiding behind the Hydra to deal damage. The crazed Tina, although wanting to attack Li Yao and his team, gets mostly absorbed by the Hydra.
Also, only the Hydra’s hundreds of thousands of health points can withstand the boss’s frenzied attacks.
Li Yao’s initial output was incredibly scary, with two instances of Rapid Shooting in almost half a minute, collectively dropping the boss’s health by over fifty thousand.
“Idol, your output is terrifying.” The excited Little Elves blushes.
Although Silent Claw did not say anything, Li Yao’s previous output also shocked him. Li Yao’s hand was almost like a blur, with nearly five attacks per second, which was horrifyingly high.
The reason Li Yao could burst like this was due to the triggering of Time Trace to activate Rapid Shooting twice. This created such an effect and directly eliminated a fifth of the boss’s health.
Of course, ultimately, it was due to having a Hydra and a healer.
In reality, the Hydra definitely wouldn’t be able to withstand the boss’s attacks for very long, but the Hydra’s high HP and two heads alternating to endure the damage prevent any one head from sustaining heavy injuries.
Although Silent Claw’s healing is not as ferocious as the boss’s damage, it plays a monumental role.
The crazed Tina can’t insta-kill the Hydra, as there are gaps between her skill outputs, which gives Silent Claw a chance to consistently increase the Hydra’s health.
Although the outdoor boss does not entirely succumb to the aggro mechanics, this boss generally isn’t very smart.
She wants to attack Li Yao and the others, but they are all keenly observed by Li Yao, who then dodges to the back of the Hydra, allowing the Hydra to completely sustain the skills, thereby protecting the three of them.
These elements culminated in the current situation, making the boss, who could potentially insta-kill any player with any of her skills, look like a fool.
“Watch out for Arcane Barrage, everyone shift left and Dark control, be prepared to block the barrage’s damage.” Li Yao spoke while already starting to move.
The siblings also moved with Li Yao, while Dark Serpent followed Li Yao’s command and pushed its body to block the boss who was trying to float over, directly absorbing the boss’s Arcane Barrage.
Biubiubiubiu…
A series of magic bullets barraged the Hydra’s body, and even though the Hydra’s health bar crunched down quickly, thanks to Li Yao’s magical pets and Silent Claw’s healing, the Hydra’s health bar always managed to stay above half.
This time was no different; although the health bar dropped, a few seconds later, the Hydra’s health was rocketed right back up.
“Isn’t this awesome? Feels like this boss is super weak.” The boss’s health is now down to around half.
“That’s because the Hydra is formidable and blocks all the damage. Be serious and avoid being hit by the boss’s skills,” Silent Claw reminded.
“Got it,” Little Elves stuck out her tongue. She was the most relaxed right now. With the Fire Spirit dealing damage, she just needed to focus on avoiding attacks.
“The boss is below half health, and it’ll probably go berserk. Everyone, stay alert,” Li Yao reminded. This boss only repeats two skills.
Death Siphon not only causes damage but also increases her own health, and Arcane Barrage causes continuous biubiu damage. No other skills have been used yet.
Dark Control!
The Hydra suddenly started to turn its heads and body around.
Li Yao’s face changed, and he said, “Quickly fall back. Stay away from the Hydra, and be mindful to dodge the boss’s skills.”
“You abominable insects, I’ve completely lost my patience.” The crazed Tina raised her hands.
Arcane Explosion!
Some purple lights began to appear on the ground, which would explode violently soon.
“Watch out, maintain a distance of more than eight yards from the purple lights.” Li Yao spoke while quickly dodging the continuous Arcane Explosions. The moment he saw the explosion, Li Yao determined the range of the blast and alerted the others.
Boom, boom, boom…
The Hydra stepped towards Li Yao, while Li Yao quickened his evasive moves, he noticed from the corner of his eye that the Fire Spirit was casting a Fireball.
“Don’t let Fire Spirit attack the Hydra.”
However, Li Yao’s caution came too late. Fire Spirit’s Fireball hit the Hydra’s body.
Roar…
The controlled Hydra turned its head, elongated its neck, and vanquished Fire Spirit with the mouth of Dark Serpent. Then, it set its sight on Little Elves.
Ice Breath!
Whooosh…
Little Elves does not have a shift ability and naturally ran slowly. Although she dodged a nearby Arcane Explosion, she couldn’t avoid the Ice Breath and was instantly killed.
Li Yao refrained from commenting further. Currently, all summoners believed their pets could take independent actions. However, in reality, summoners have some controls as well.
Whether one is a master summoner depends if they can control their pet as deftly as they control their own arms, not just in movement, but in the execution of the right skills at the right time.
But the real situation was that the game had just begun, and gaming experts didn’t choose summoner as their priority.
Meanwhile, newbies and some technically incompetent players chose to be summoners, with no understanding of how to precisely control their pets with sufficient spiritual power under regular circumstances. In high-intensity and high-precision battles, they often find it hard to keep up the pace.
Li Yao remembers that, in her previous life, Little Elves was an expert. From what it seems now, she still needs some training.
“I was too weak.” Little Elves said despondently.
“It’s okay, steady.” Li Yao halted.
The Hydra had already broken free from the control and resumed its position in front of the two of them.
Silent Claw nodded. As long as the Hydra didn’t die, they had a chance.
Before Li Yao resumed attacking, he as usual released a Sonar Arrow. This is his habit to remain alert at all times. He had been ambushed by thieves too many times in his previous life. This habit developed as a result.
Li Yao was surprised when he actually detected two thieves-one hiding behind a building, another behind a rock. They were in stealth mode, completely motionless, which showed their malicious intent.
“Be careful. There are two Light Faction thieves lurking, and they probably have ill intentions. Their team is likely nearby in hiding,” Li Yao cautioned in the team chat.
“Do they dare to dig a hole at the Emperor’s door? Haven’t they been avoiding Idol?” Little Elves asked confusedly.
“Them not attacking me isn’t because they’re scared, but because they don’t want to engage in meaningless battle.” Li Yao responded, “Also, this is just a game. How could anyone truly cower? As long as someone from their team touches the boss then kills us, they can pick up the boss’s loot after just ten minutes.”…
