Chapter 128 - 127: Invitation

The scallion fried egg on the plate looks quite appealing, not too much green onion, and the egg is fried to a golden brown with a hint of char. You can still make out that it was once a beautiful round omelet. Even though it’s a bit cold, the texture is still nice-the egg is smooth and tender, and the fragrance of the scallion is present. The only flaw is a slight eggy smell. Jiang Feng believes that if eaten hot right off the stove, the aroma of the eggs and scallions would be enough to mask the faint eggy smell, and the taste and texture would be even better.

It is a plate of scallion fried egg that far surpasses the skills of an average person.

But Jiang Feng is confident he can do even better.

Feeling slightly proud of himself, Jiang Feng went to try Guo Mengting’s eggplant clay pot dish.

As an ordinary housewife, her culinary skills were indeed not bad, but the flaws were apparent-her fire control and knifework weren’t perfect, and it was a bit too strongly flavored. Perhaps because she seldom specifically fries eggplant at home, as it’s quite oil-intensive, the eggplant in the dish was clearly over-fried. It wouldn’t have been an issue under normal circumstances since the seasoning was actually alright, but when compared to the eggplant dish made by Jiang Feng, it obviously fell short.

Actually, she was just lucky. If her eggplant clay pot dish was served after Jiang Feng’s, with such a striking contrast between the two eggplant dishes, she certainly wouldn’t have received eight red cards.

After tasting the eggplant with green beans dish Jiang Feng made, Lan Ning, as usual, didn’t say a word and left the scene, appearing very aloof.

“Ding.” The game suddenly revived, making a sound.

Jiang Feng:…

If this damned game had a complaint window, he would definitely complain

eight hundred times a day!

Zhang Luyu couldn’t squeeze in at first, but after Lan Ning left, he grabbed a mouthful of the eggplant with his chopsticks and was astounded, “Dude, your cooking skills are way too good, they could rival a restaurant s!

Jiang Feng found it strange, since Zhang Luyu wasn’t a freshman at UAL; his family’s Healthy Stir-fry Restaurant pretty much dominated the mam campus, so how was it that he acted as if he had never tasted their dishes?

“Haven’t you ever eaten at Healthy Stir-fry Restaurant?” Jiang Feng asked curiously.

“What is that? A new place that just opened?” Zhang Luyu seemed puzzled.

“It’s… it’s my family’s restaurant, on the food street. Don’t you usually eat there’” Jiang Feng felt that Mr. Jiang Jiankang definitely needed to reflect on his cooking, as there were actually students at UAL who didn’t know about Healthy Stir-fry Restaurant, which was a real letdown.

And there he was, bragging about his progress in cooking skills to Sir last night.

“I don’t really go out to eat much; I usually order takeout. Does your family’s restaurant not cater to delivery?” Zhang Luyu instantly revealed his homebody nature.

“You mean that restaurant in UAL whose dishes are a bit pricey, and can only be ordered via WeChat for delivery, which doesn’t extend to Capital University anymore?” Wang Suli tentatively asked.

“Sister Wang, you know about it?” Zhang Luyu was shocked; he was starting to doubt whether he really was a part of UAL.

Wang Suli nodded, “A friend from UAL took me there once. At first, they delivered to Capital University, but then they stopped, and I haven’t been there since it’s not convenient to go to UAL anymore.”

“Ex-boyfriend.” Wang Suli added.

“You’ve got culinary talent in your family, buddy. Let’s go, I’ll come by your restaurant later and you make me a couple of your specialties to try,” Zhang Luyu said excitedly.

“My dad’s cooking skills are better than mine,” Jiang Feng reminded him. “Then I’ll trouble your uncle to make me a couple of his specialties,” Zhang Luyu promptly corrected himself.

Jiang Feng: …

Heh.

“Can I join too? I took the day off today, and I would like to go,” Wang Suh asked timidly.

“You want to come to my family’s restaurant? I’d be more than happy. Of course, you can go, you’re welcome anytime,” Jiang Feng replied with a smile. These three were having a delightful conversation, but Guo Mengting on the other side wasn’t feeling quite as cheerful.

Since her taste buds were fine, she could tell that Jiang Feng’s eggplant was superior to hers, and it bothered her since she had been a bit overconfident earlier; realizing that someone was better was a bit of a blow to her pride. And for some reason, she felt as if she were the villain in a city novel who just got a humiliating comeuppance.

Even though she was a 28-year-old married woman with a child in elementary school, she was once an avid novel enthusiast, unafraid to delve into both male-oriented and female-oriented genres and had perused a wide range of books, leaving her mark on various novel websites. She was thoroughly familiar with all kinds of novel cliches.

“Are you a chef?” Guo Mengting asked, feeling complex emotions about turning into a villain.

“Sort of,” Jiang Feng replied.

“If you don’t mind, can I join you?” Guo Mengyun asked, “I want to try the cooking at your place too.”

“Of course, He Ling, would you like to come along?” Jiang Feng invited He Ling. “No, no, I have to go back to work overtime. I skipped two hours this afternoon, so I need to make them up tonight,” He Ling said with a laugh, “Cheer up, once you’re into the national top 32, I’ll vote foryou using WeChat.” After saying that, He Ling hurried back to her company to work overtime. “It seems there are no problems or opinions from everyone,” Professor Ye asked, receiving affirmative answers. He stood up but did not leave.

“Would you all mind if this judge joined your dinner gathering?” Professor Ye asked with a smile.

Jiang Feng was surprised and was just about to respond when Zhang Luyu cut in: “We’d love to, we’d be more than willing!”

“Of course,” Jiang Feng said, still feeling surprised.

And so, five of them headed to the Healthy Stir-fry Restaurant for dinner. The journey was still a bit of a hassle, switching from the bus to the subway. Zhang Luyu couldn’t stop talking and was very curious as to why Professor Ye, a judge, would join their impromptu dinner. She kept chatting up Professor Ye the whole way.

“Professor Ye, I actually really admire Capital University. I wanted to apply there initially, but unfortunately, my scores weren’t high enough. If they had been, maybe you would’ve been my teacher,” Zhang Luyu began to boast. “Oh, you’re from the architecture department?” Professor Ye showed interest. Zhang Luyu: “…I majored in animation…”

“But Professor Ye, I actually wanted to study architecture. It’s just that my scores weren’t enough, right? The architecture department at UAL University also requires high grades. And there’s also the physics department, which I wanted to apply to, but again, not enough scores,” Zhang Luyu tried to steer the conversation elsewhere, “Hey, by the way, Wang Meizi, Jiang Feng, what are your majors?”

“I’m in the English Education program,” Wang Suli said quietly.

“I’m from the Physics department,” Jiang Feng said.

“Impressive, you Physics majors not only need high scores but also can cook delicious food,” Zhang Luyu said.

Jiang Feng: ….

Actually, those specializing in Food and Nutrition typically make better cooks. And they also need high scores.

*As it turns out, single dogs that insist on celebrating Valentine’s Day out and about will indeed face retribution.

A severe cold, a headache, slept for a whole day.

I owe two chapters to the two Alliance Hierarchs; I apologize as I probably can only update once for the next two days o(T_T)o
