Chapter 139: | 139 | Getting out of the Hospital
"I would have been there for a day if not for your blood, Laplace." Abraham didn\'t mind the teasing of the dragoness as he was already used to it. Though, she seems to be interested in pushing his patience.
"Oh, are you interested for more? You can ask, Abraham. And I won\'t think of refusing you. What do you think?" She softly whispered to his ear, causing his body to shiver. It looks like this is the price for pissing her off.
Nonetheless, Abraham was barely keeping it in. It has been a while since they had done it together so his libido was high at the moment. But with the ongoing operation in the background, it was clear that this wasn\'t the time for them to do so.
However, to think she would be swaying it in front of him. From the looks of it, she already knew that he didn\'t have the time to act on his desires. So she might be having fun in making him impatient through some sexual baiting.
"I might be a proper man who knows his responsibilities, Laplace. But there are times when I break my own rules." Abraham held Laplace\'s chin and gazed at her golden irises. They were beautiful, especially when they look at him with incredible lus- No.
\'Calm yourself, Abraham. I must not disappoint my subordinates.\' Abraham thought to himself and calmed down his intense libido. The operations hadn\'t ended yet. He wouldn\'t want to be a fleet admiral who was busy fighting the dragoness while his men fought against enemy forces.
"Oh, interesting..." Laplace\'s face became closer to his while her red supple lips smirked. Abraham immediately turned his head away and took a deep breath before remarking. "At any rate, the operations should be ending. I can\'t wait to hear the news."
"Well, I did hear them working hard. Especially that stone-faced girl. Her northern fleet was assaulted by over a dozen of battleships in the northern sea. Her operation has the highest rate of failure." Laplace\'s teasing expression faded as she became serious.
"The northern operation will fail. It was already within my expectations the moment I heard about the Inquisitors intruding the northern sea. The question should be how the operation fails." Abraham squinted his eyes and continued.
"I hope that the casualties wouldn\'t be to high. Our war against the Colonial Dominion of Terra has been affecting us greatly than anticipated." His face became cold as if he had thought of something unsightly.
"The State of Minos, huh? I heard about the high casualty from the Inquisitors\' ambush. Unfortunate, but it makes us realize that while we know a lot about our adversaries. They might know more about us too."
"After all, who knows what magicraft could do. They might be observing us at the moment or using some strange spell to find information through future-sight." Laplace remarked as the mystical element of magicraft meant that the variables they were facing could be anything.
"Now that I thought about it. I planned on visiting the Research & Development Department. I need to know how much they have advanced in their study of magicraft and whether or not they have thought of any counters against this part of nature." Abraham muttered to himself.
"That department who collected all the magic artifacts tributed by the Colonial Dominion and are now destroying them one by one?" Laplace commented while Abraham wryly smiled. "They were dismantling it to learn more about how it works in the inside it."
"Dismantles implies they know how to return it to its former state. Otherwise, they are merely destroying it." She smiled at the fleet admiral who couldn\'t utter a counter against her words. But it\'s not like there was anything they could do about it.
They were too ignorant with magic.
"Yeah, yeah, Dragon of the United Navy. Your wisdom is paramount and unending." Abraham sarcastically remarked, making the dragoness pinch his cheeks in annoyance. "I\'m merely stating the truth, Abraham."
"Destroying those magical artifacts doesn\'t do any of you good. It brings you questions than answers. And you already have a lot of questions, so having more would be impeding your abilities to find an answer." Laplace unironically stated with unrivalled wisdom.
"I know, Laplace. But our time is running out and the big shots of magicraft will be coming after us sooner or later. I don\'t want them teleporting inside my office." Abraham sighed as the thought of a Sovereign teleporting inside his office brought chills to his spine.
As brave as he was, he didn\'t want to die without a chance to fight back.
Noticing the expression of her lover, Laplace hugged him tightly and muttered to his ears. "I\'ll always be with you, Abraham. There\'s no need for you to worry. I\'m here, now."
Hearing her, Abraham lightly chuckled and remarked. "What are you, my mother?" Laplace raised an eyebrow, but the edges of her lips soon rose as she responded. "Perhaps, I am. How about you call me Mommy,"
*Cough!* *Cough!* *Cough!* *Cough!*
While Laplace teased the embarrassed fleet admiral, several coughs resounded and the two pointed their gaze forward. Before them was the Special Response Unit that recently got back. They were led by none other than first lieutenant Mercedes.
Laplace\'s golden irises immediately glowed with authority as she furrowed her eyebrows. Everyone in the team felt chills in their spine and swiftly saluted to their lieutenant colonel. After all, none of them wanted to feel the wrath of the dragon.
"Lieutenant Colonel Laplace, SRU 01 have returned!" Mercedes stepped forward and reported with a salute.
Laplace merely squinted her eyes while staring at the silver wolf beastfolk. Afterward, she turned her eyes towards the giant Minokin, Espada. Silence permeated until Abraham broke it with his calm words.
"Mercedes, congratulations for completing your mission." He said to the beastfolk, who lightly bowed towards him and replied. "Apologies for being late, Fleet Admiral. We were completely useless when someone tried to assassinate you."
"There\'s no need to apologize. It wasn\'t your job to protect me, especially when your team is going through a mission of your own. Besides, I got her with me." Abraham pointed at the cold dragoness beside him.
The teasing Laplace had disappeared, which was a vast discrepancy when compared to her cold side. It was understandable as that side was only something she revealed to those close to her. To her subordinates, she was an efficient and calm superior.
The blade of the Fleet Admiral.
"We returned as fast as possible after hearing the news. But the mission is more or less complete. The rebels of the archipelago colony are growing and they should be marching to the main island for liberation." Mercedes coolly reported.
"Good work," Abraham patted her head and continued. "So, was the human girl interesting?" He questioned, wanting to know more about the one that called upon his assistance.
"Intriguing, to say the least. She has the properties of a leader and seems to be determined with her ideology as well. It was easy for beastfolks to be inspired by her, despite being doubtful at first." Mercedes was honest regarding what she thought of Hermona.
"It seems that we have made a good ally. I\'d like to meet her personally myself." Abraham smiled since the operation hadn\'t only brought unfortunate casualties to the United Navy. It gave many more than tragedies.
"I believe she wishes to meet the famous and legendary fleet admiral of the United Navy. Though, have you really met with a Sovereign?" Mercedes asked, curious about the spreading rumors.
He wryly smiled after hearing her question and Laplace was about to step forward. But Abraham stopped the dragoness on her tracks with his arm and smiled at her. He nodded at the gorgeous lady and responded to the curious wolf\'s question.
"That\'s right, we met with the Moon Sovereign, Kaguya." Hearing his answer, most of the beastfolks in the SRU 01 were shocked. They never thought their fleet admiral would stand before a Sovereign and stay alive afterward.
This deepened their admiration towards him.
"I see... As expected of the legendary fleet admiral." Mercedes beamed a smile, which was a rare one. After all, her personality was akin to Charlotte. They were always calm and cool regardless of the situation.
It was rare to see any other expressions on their faces other than a blank one.
"We\'ll be going to write a report about our mission, Fleet Admiral. I hope you make a complete recovery." Mercedes bowed once again to Abraham and saluted before walking away. Her team did the same and followed her from behind.
Abraham and Laplace gazed at the team with the middle-aged man almost shedding a tear. It was as if he had seen his daughter grow to become a strong woman. It was a strange feeling.
"They grow very fast, don\'t they?" Laplace uttered, making Abraham nod in agreement. "I agree- Wait, what?" He looked at the dragoness wondering if she was reading his mind.
