Chapter 104: Banquet [4]
"If there's a possibility, can I arrange a meeting with you, Sir Lucian?"
"Sir Lucian!"
"Sir Lucian—"
Always Lucian and never Adrien.
They were both from the Frost family, but not once had he ever been approached like this outside the Academy.
It was a familiar sight.
He was irritated.
But composed himself.
It only made sense knowing how strong his older brother was.
He was the pride of humanity, a height no one could ever dare to reach.
There was no point in competing with him.
It wasn't just Adrien. The entire hall was filled with military officers who were more powerful than him, and yet even they couldn't live up to his brother.
And thus he decided to leave it there.
Sipping on wine for the next minute, he frowned.
He had been trying to look for a specific person the entire time. But for some reason, she wasn't present.
Didn't Amelia say she was going to attend?
Then where was she…?
"Haa…"
He breathed out a sigh as he fixed the collar of his suit.
The entire party felt suffocating. For him, the only one who could make it bearable was the presence of Amelia.
And yet she wasn't here.
There was also another person he wanted to see, yet she wasn't here either.
Just where could Belle and Amelia be?
Though his feelings weren't as strong towards Belle compared to Amelia, he had still found her attractive.
Which is why he wanted to be on her good side when he tried to appoint her brother for the disciplinary committee position.
Though Belle refuted, and it was something he hadn't expected, the proposal was still approved in the end.
He had shown her that he was a man that wouldn't back down. Surely, Belle was impressed by his prowess.
Surely.
He was recently informed that her younger brother, Brandon, had accepted his proposal.
He was going to test him for a light spar, in which he would lose on purpose just to get on Belle's good side.
A fool proof plan.
If he couldn't win Amelia over, then Belle was his second choice.
Both were beautiful women that no man could dare to touch.
Besides him, of course.
He was a man of lofty status.
Adrien Frost, second son of the Frost family, and the younger brother of Lucian Frost.
No other man is more worthy than him for Amelia or Belle.
The two of them together didn't sound too bad either.
Amelia had been quite stubborn in recent years, so his chances were quite low.
Belle on the other hand was the President he worked under.
Pinching his chin, he started measuring his chances with the two.
And as he found his conclusion it was…
70% with Belle, and 30% with Amelia.
Closing his eyes, he nodded with a smile.
Such thoughts were the only thing that kept him in a good mood.
Setting his goblet back on the table, he decided to go to the balcony for fresh air.
The room felt quite stuffy.
"Sir Adrien, where are you going?"
"Just going to take a breather, don't mind me, Sir."
Giving the officer a light bow, Adrien continued in his steps.
"..."
But he was soon halted by the sight that greeted him.
"...What the fuck?"
Amelia…
She was outside this whole time.
On the balcony.
Standing,
And laughing.
Next to…
…A man.
A sudden rage boiled within Adrien.
Amelia had never laughed like that whenever she was with him.
So who,
"Who the fuck is that man standing right beside my Amelia?!"
A sudden ringing sound echoed in his ear. All the sounds were drowned out as a vein popped in his forehead.
Step—
He walked heavy steps as headed towards the balcony's entrance.
Slam!
The door slammed open and he immediately caught their attention as their heads turned towards him.
Amelia called out to him, but it all went to deaf ears as he continued to walk towards the man with pale-white hair.
The man tilted his head, perplexed by Adrien's sudden appearance.
"Adrien, what are you—"
"Quiet."
He then gripped the man's collar tightly. Staring into his ice-blue eyes, he voiced out his disdain.
"Who the fuck are you?"
"Adrien let go of hi—"
"I said quiet. How could you let a guy like this—Ukh!"
A sudden pressure bore down on him.
But as he looked at the man, it seemed like it didn't come from him, evident by his confused expression.
No, it came from Amelia.
"Leave, now."
"Amelia, why?"
He then looked back at the man who continued to look puzzled.
"What does he have that I don't?"
"Leave."
But Adrien didn't stand down.
The man in front of him…
He looked familiar. But the rage engulfed his mind to comprehend just who he was.
Ignoring Amelia, he looked back at the man. Gripping his collar tightly, he frowned.
"Who are you? Who's son even are you—Akh!"
Another pressure bore down on him. With two pressures on him, he fell on one knee.
"Who the fuck–"
As he turned around, his words were immediately halted by the sight of a familiar figure who had just entered the balcony.
Her long pale-white hair was brushed in an elegant hairstyle as her ice-blue gaze was fixed on him.
She was as beautiful as he remembered.
And her brows were knitted tightly. He could sense the rage coming from her.
Both of the women he was eyeing on…
They…
They were furious at him.
Furious for the sake of the man that stood before him.
Just who was he for them to react this way?
But it was then when he looked back at the man and realized something.
His eyes widened.
"You."
"...?"
The man tilted his head.
"Can you let go of me now?"
"You're Brandon Locke."
"Yes?"
And as his suspicions were confirmed, he looked up at Brandon.
The pressure dissipated and he got up.
He stood stupefied with his eyes wide open.
This…
The situation took a wrong turn.
His plans were obstructed by his blinding rage.
He had angered the women around him. And now he had made a bad impression on his junior, Brandon.
Bad was an understatement, but he couldn't admit that.
Staring at Brandon, his mouth opened and he gave him a low bow.
"I apologize, I don't know what came over me."
Fixing his collar, Brandon waved him off.
"I'm fine, but what about you?"
"What do you mean?"
"Look."
Extending his hand forward, Brandon pointed at the windows behind him.
Turning around, what greeted his sight were all the guests who looked at the entire scene with shocked expressions.
But that wasn't what caught his attention.
A sudden chill ran down his spine.
Just near the window, his brother, Lucian, looked at him with a cold gaze as his face darkened.
Others might not have noticed the sudden change in Lucian's expressions, but Adrien could.
His brother's usual indifferent expression was nowhere to be seen.
He had never seen his brother make such a face.
His body shuddered as he continued to stare at his brother.
And before he knew it, Lucian was already by the balcony's entrance.
Everyone looked at Lucian with widened eyes, even Brandon who was previously composed.
He could see Belle and Amelia suddenly grow wary at the sight of Lucian. Most likely afraid of what Lucian would do.
"Adrien."
As his brother's cold monotonous voice reached his ears, Adrien continued to shudder in fear.
"B-brother…"
"What do you think you're doing?"
"T-this is a misunderstanding…"
Adrien looked at Brandon with pleading eyes.
"I-isn't it, Brandon…?"
"..."
