Chapter 283 - Successful chicken dinner
“89th examination hall, the team that advanced to the second round is Feng Lin’s team from the solar system. Members are Feng Lin, Yana, Aris, Yi, and Su Li...”
A robotic voice rang out, accompanied by bursts of applause.
Many surviving teams who were feeling fatigued stared at the five of them with strange and surprised looks on their faces.
Feng Lin’s team came from the solar system, a dilapidated region. Moreover, five of them were merely elite cultivators. How did they manage to stand out from so many other ferocious teams?
Even the paladin team that was a dominating presence didn’t manage to win.
How dangerous was it to be snatching food from the tiger’s mouth?
Did they have some kind of unique means?
The teams that survived had all been eliminated by the paladin team; therefore, they knew how strong the paladin team was. The more they thought about it, the more curious they felt.
The five members from the paladin team stood at the side. Their bodies had been charred black from being electrocuted, and their countenances were dark like charcoal as well.
They hadn’t lost in terms of strength, but they hadn’t been vicious enough.
With their abilities, they would have been able to attempt sneaking into the Zheng Clan’s nest and snatch the spirit crystal bead. However, they decided to play it safe, wanting to wipe out the other small teams and be fully prepared. It was due to this that they had missed out on the opportunity.
Neither did they expect that Feng Lin’s team would be so vicious. They had charged in to kill the Zheng Clan’s leader as elite cultivators without many preparations; they were just courting death.
The more they understood this, the harder it was to accept this fact.
“Don’t be feeling happy too soon! The second round is the Interstellar Warfare Battle. You guys better pray that you don’t encounter us. Otherwise, we’ll let you know what real terror is!” The paladin team’s leader let out a cold snort and turned to leave together with his four companions.
(What right does a loser have to say that?)
Feng Lin returned a cold glance, not giving any reply.
Although the paladin team had lost, they still managed to get second place and obtained the chance to participate in the Interstellar Debarkation Battle. It wasn’t a difficult task for them to get to the next round.
However, a loss is a loss!
Even if the two teams were to meet in the second round of the examinations, did they really think that Feng Lin’s team would still be at their current level?
With a sufficient supply of cultivation resources, Feng Lin knew that his team would have rapid breakthroughs.
He didn’t take their feeble threats to heart.
If they were to really meet each other in the second round, then they would just fight it out. Why the need to speak so much crap?
“Amazing! To think that your team is able to advance to the next round in a single try like this!” The main examiner was full of admiration. “So you guys have passed the first round of examinations, and you will have 20 days to prepare for the second round. Right now, you’ll have access to the endless cultivating resources provided by us; you can take as much as you can use. Prepare well. The second round of examinations is far more brutal than you can imagine!”
“Wow, to think that there’s this much benefit!” Feng Lin was in deep thought after the initial surprise.
Those who had passed the first round of examinations were treated as the real seeds with potential!
The interstellar humans really spared no effort in selecting talent.
The space shuttle left, passing through the wormhole and bringing the many surviving candidates back to the Starry Space Golden Pyramid. Those who were eliminated would leave, while those who had successfully advanced would wait for the next round to take place.
...
After returning to their residence, Feng Lin’s team didn’t split up immediately. Instead, they discussed what they should be preparing for the next round.
“Everyone, we’ve cleared the first round of examinations, and now we’ll need to prepare well in the next 20 days! Otherwise, given our current strength, it’d be hard for us to pass the next exam!” Feng Lin was the first to speak up.
Everyone nodded but they were clearly wearing troubled expressions.
“20 days are still too short! All of us are injured. After recovering, we’ll only be able to raise a bit of our vitality. It’d probably be hard for us to achieve any qualitative change!” Yi spoke in a low voice.
“That might not be true!” Feng Lin shook his head lightly and said, smiling.
“Hmmm? Do you have some kind of suggestion?” asked Yana curiously.
“Aren’t you guys curious about why I know so much about the myths and legends? I can tell you that now!” Feng Lin said calmly.
Yi and Su Li trembled and they exchanged a glance instinctively as they thought of the promise that Feng Lin had made earlier.
Yana’s expression also changed, appearing to be very interested.
“I’m a member of a secret cultivation association. The founder of this group is a great and mysterious cultivating senior, Dao Ancestor Hongjun. He has an extremely high level of mastery in cultivation! As long as you guys can complete the missions he set, you’ll be able to obtain any precious mythological knowledge!...” After experiencing the first round of examinations, Feng Lin was clear of the four members’ potential and character. He decided to officially take them in as the members of the Mythological Genes Association.
Although they still weren’t that strong, if they grew, they had the possibility of becoming a true expert in the interstellar space. By then, they would be a great help for him in the Mythological Genes Association.
(Any mythological knowledge? Dao Ancestor Hongjun? What an arrogant tone! What a repute!)
...
Yana and the other three went deep into thought.
“Any mythological knowledge? Even the Shamans’ legacies included?” Yi was the first to ask a question. There was urgency and agitation in his eyes.
“That’s right!” Feng Lin nodded. He had this confidence because of his mythological knowledge as well as the existence of the genetic equations.
“Even Greek myths and legends? All myths and legends systems?” Yana found this a little hard to believe.
“Of course!” Feng Lin smiled and said.
Dao Ancestor Hongjun?
What mighty character was this person?
They had never heard of this great senior in the interstellar space.
...
The four of them were making a lot of guesses.
Feng Lin merely smiled and didn’t say anything from the beginning to the end. No matter how much they think about it, they wouldn’t be able to guess that this was just an armor he was using to hide his secrets.
Seeing that they were hesitant, he added, “It isn’t that easy to enter the Mythological Genes Association! I can only recommend you guys to become temporary members. If you really wish to enter the Mythological Genes Association, you must pass Dao Ancestor Hongjun’s tests!”
To think that the requirements to enter a virtual cultivation association were so strict!
Yana and the others couldn’t help but feel interested.
After spending so much time together, they were clear that Feng Lin wasn’t a person who would say things irresponsibly. If they could really obtain precious mythological knowledge, it would be a steal for them!
Even if it was fake, considering that this was merely a virtual cultivation association, there wasn’t much material restriction placed on them!
“How do we enter?” Yana asked the question that all of them were concerned about.
“The recommendations of an internal member would be required! Tell me your id in the virtual universe. After we enter, I’ll hand you the token to enter the Mythological Genes Association. Without this item, you guys won’t be able to locate the Mythological Genes Association’s address!” Feng Lin said calmly, not showing any abnormal expressions.
Things were getting increasingly interesting when it was so mysterious!
Yana and the others exchanged a glance, having a strange feeling that this Mythological Genes Association might be able to bring them unimaginable rewards. All of them gave Feng Lin their virtual id.
The five of them then went on their separate ways, grasping time to recover their energy and then enter the virtual universe to be summoned.
Feng Lin saw their smiles as they left, and a hint of a mysterious smile crept up on his lips.
The strange thing was, he didn’t start to cultivate immediately. Instead, with a wave of his hand, he brought out the pill concoction furnace that had been successfully refined a long time ago. The pill concoction furnace pressed down on the ground, releasing a booming sound.
He was already an elite cultivator now, having grasped the changes to the energies of the world. Ancient alchemy was no longer a challenge to him.
If he wished to advance past the second round of examinations, it was useless to just be putting an effort in cultivation. He would only be able to grow in leaps and bounds if he were to grasp alchemy.
