Chapter 53 - 53 A Disaster That Could Destroy The Village
Editor: Exodus Tales
“Shadow Realm? What is that?”
They looked an eye at Lu Chen and when the chieftain and Wuzu recalled he was able to defeat the Black Coffin Evils now, their gloomy faces from the loss of the two barbarians finally smiled a little.
Then, Master Wuzu said, “You are now a pillar to the village. It’s time you know some of these things.”
“There are Evils everywhere in the Wilderness, it’s impossible to kill them all. But other than the Ungradeds and White Wanders, the Black Coffin Evils are mostly all different in shape and form. Unless there are some special reasons, it’s extremely rare to have them gathered together in one place.”
“The Shadow Realms, the Ancestor’s Ground explained it as a kind of special realm that is formed by the intersection of the Dark World and out world for some reason.”
“Everything in the Shadow Realms are Evils. Furthermore, the Evils in a Shadow Realm have common points. For example, the black umbrella and the hanger, they are items that turned Evils.”
“Hence, if a Shadow Realm has emerged near us, the Evils will take the form of items instead of unidentifiable forms in the wild.”
As he explained, Lu Chen’s expression turned.
Wuzu didn’t notice Lu Chen’s change of expression and he continued, “Don’t worry about it. It’s just two similar Evils. We’ve often encountered things like this. At least three of the same kind is needed to call for an investigation and five or more to be reported.”
“Report?”
“Yes, report to our Wild Bull Royal Court of the Holy Ground. The Evils in the Shadow Realms are too many, too strong. Us alone is not enough to defend ourselves, let alone getting rid of it. So the Holy Ground has ordered us to report the Shadow Realms to them once any is discovered.”
“Why report it up? What’s in it for them in the Shadow Realm? Or is it just to protect the village from the Evils?”
Lu Chen was interested as to why they would have to report the Shadow Realms once discovered.
However, Wuzu also didn’t know much about it.
“I am not sure about it, but during my time studying witchcraft in the royal court, my teacher once said clearing a Shadow Realm is also getting rid of another world’s waypoint.”
Master Wuzu stopped right there. Clearly, although he knew a little about the secrets of the world, he who was just a small village’s Wuzu doesn’t know much either.
Whereas Lu Chen has inferred a guess based on the few things he learned.
The Evils can never be cleared, they only come out at night and fades away directly before dawn, and the Shadow Realms acting as waypoints for other worlds. Could it be, the Evils are not aboriginals of this world but from another world?
With the wisdom he has from the 21st century, Lu Chen has a lot of thinking about the truth, but all of it was just a guess after all. The lack of information made it impossible for him to validate his guess. Moreover, it wasn’t time yet for him to think about it now.
There were more important things that he has to deal with.
He looked at Wuzu with a solemn face and said, “Master Wuzu, I think we may have to report it up now.”
“What do you mean?”
Lu Chen’s words puzzled Master Wuzu.
Lu Chen smiled bitterly before he continued, “In the past two days, I’ve been out hunting the Evils. I’ve fought a little drum Evil and a bowl Evil, in addition to the black umbrella and the hanger, that makes four item-turned Evils. Furthermore, all of them appeared around the village. As much as I’m reluctant to say, but we may have a Shadow Realm around us now.”
These words made Wu Zhu’s brows wrinkle instantly.
“You are not kidding?”
“Master Wu Zhu, I won’t be joking about such things.”
Master Wuzhu also knew that Lu Chen wouldn’t make jokes about this kind of thing, he only asked because he didn’t want to believe that there was a Shadow Realm nearby.
But when he looked at Lu Chen, he found that Lu Chen didn’t waver and he said with a gloomy expression, “Come, back to the totem pillar in the village.”
He didn’t even clean up the battlefield and ordered the barbarians to do it. Then, he hurriedly brought the chieftain, Lu Chen and a few other barbarians back to the totem pillar in the center of the village.
“You, you, you, bring me a lamb. You, you, bring…”
As they were making their way back, Wuzu was ordering the barbarians to bring him the things he needs. Eventually, only the chieftain, Lu Chen, and Wuzu were left when they arrived before the totem pillar.
The totem pillar was saint and holy in the night. There were blood-red patterns on it that glimmered and waves of energy that pulsed out to the surroundings.
The pulsing energy comforted Lu Chen’s heart as if the ancestors were protecting him.
“The totem pillar is where the ancestors rest in peace. The power that suppresses the Evils, are they the souls of the village’s past warriors?”
Lu Chen was interested in the totem pillar but Master Wuzu who was anxious had no intention of replying to Lu Chen. He was busy instructing the others to arrange the ceremony.
Soon, a live sheep was sent over and sacrificed and a series of other procedures were also completed by the barbarians while Master Wuzu was dancing around the totem pillar.
While Master Wuzu was organizing the ceremony, Lu Chen asked the chieftain for the reasons.
Because of his talent, both the chieftain and Wuzu were very kind to Lu Chen. When Lu Chen asked, the chieftain basically answered every question he could.
“Master Wuzu is using the totem pillar to contact the other villages’ totem pillars to check on their status. The Shadow Realm will not just appear around us, if the other villages have also encountered the same thing, then we can almost be certain a Shadow Realm is nearby. Which in that case, we’ll be in deep troubles.”
Just like Wuzu, the chieftain was worried about the Shadow Realm. On the other hand, Lu Chen was more interested in the totem pillar.
This thing can even be used as a phone?
While Lu Chen was amazed by the magical powers of the totem pillar, Wuzu stopped his dance on the other side.
When he stopped, Lu Chen noticed the blood-red patterns on the totem pillar started moving as if they were alive.
Whereas when Wuzu saw the patterns moving, he knelt down in front of the totem pillar and closed his eyes.
It lasted for some time before Wuzu stood up again. However, his face turned pale and ugly.
But the chieftain had no time to pay attention to Wuzu’s health now. At the first moment of him standing up, the chieftain has asked anxiously.
“How is it? Did we just scared ourselves?”
Until now, the chieftain still hoped that Lu Chen’s guess was just a false alarm.
Lu Chen also hoped for the same as he realized the Shadow Realm might not be as simple as he thought judging from the chieftain’s and Wuzu’s reactions.
If it was possible, he wouldn’t want that to happen as well. However, truth would not be altered by Lu Chen’s thoughts.
The pale-faced Master Wuzu said in a heavy voice, “I’ve contacted the Black Bull Village in the west, they found a water tank Evil and the Wolf Village in the north had a dozen children lured away by an Evil with a flute.”
As he said, chieftain Da Shi’s face turned gloomy. However, even Lu Chen could not remain calm after hearing what Wu Zhu said next.
“Other than Black Bull Village, Wolf Village, and our Wild Bull Village, I couldn’t contact the other two villages.”
“What? How is it possible? Have the two villages fallen? How did they fall so quickly?”
Wuzu didn’t answer the questions.
All of a sudden, Lu Chen finally understood why Wuzu and the chieftain were so afraid to talk about the Shadow Realms.
After all, it was a disaster that could destroy a village as soon as it appears.
To be able to survive in the Wilderness, the villages are not weak on their own, even more, they have the totem pillars in the village. But even so, they were still destroyed. What if the Evils in the Shadow Realm have all come to the Wild Bull Village, what can I do then…
As he thought about it, Lu Chen frown deeply.
Soon after, Lu Chen realized that when the Evils in the Shadow Realm have come to destroy the village, there was nothing he could do other than to run for his life.
Let’s not mention if he could escape successfully, even if he could leave the village, Lu Chen wouldn’t be able to go far in the night without the village’s and the totem pillar’s protections.
Sigh, I’m still too weak.
