Chapter 49
After being mentally tortured for a whole night, his eyes were dull with dark circles around them. His body was trembling slightly, and his shirt that he was rubbing out of nervousness was wrinkled.
Jing Yunzhao felt sorry for him. He had been keeping his head down the whole night and his neck must be sore by now.
“We really didn’t mean it,” the boy started crying as he spoke to the woman standing beside him, “Jia Jia was in a bad mood so we thought of taking her to karaoke to cheer her up. We bumped into Jing Yunzhao on our way there. She was alone, so we thought we could teach her a lesson and took her into an alley, but we were no match for Jing Yunzhao. My eldest cousin got so angry that he picked up a rock and threw it, but Jing Yunzhao dodged it and the rock hit one of us.”
The boy began to sob. After suppressing his feelings for one whole night, his anxiousness was now overwhelming.
“Yes, that was what happened,” said the other boy, whose eyes were red and glassy.
“That’s nonsense! It was Jing Yunzhao who did it!” The boy who threw the rock leaped up from his chair, lunged towards his youngest cousin, and punched his face.
The youngest cousin’s nose started bleeding and he fainted out of fear.
The police officers quickly restrained the eldest cousin.
“It wasn’t me! You have to believe me, Mother, it was all because of Jing Yunzhao! It was because of her! Tell them, Jia Jia, tell them that I had nothing to do with it!” The boy screamed hysterically, his eyes crazed.
Lu Jia had never been in such a situation before, but she knew the second her cousins confessed, they were doomed. They, including her, were all doomed.
“Cousin did not do it on purpose… All we wanted to do was to teach Jing Yunzhao a lesson, it only happened because Jing Yunzhao dodged it,” Lu Jia wailed, tears running down her cheeks.
“Shut up, Lu Jia, you’re a liar! They were talking nonsense and so are you!” Although he was being held back by the police officers, Lu Jia’s eldest cousin managed to stretch his leg far enough to kick her.
Her eldest cousin wasn’t the only one who was mad at Lu Jia. All three of Lu Jis’s aunts who were also at the police station heard their conversation and glared at Lu Jia resentfully.
Lu Jia’s father was the only male for their generation in the family, and strangely, all the daughters of the Lu Family happened to give birth to boys after they got married, and Lu Jia’s father was the only one to have a daughter.
While they found it a pity that Lu Jia’s father didn’t have a son, Lu Jia as the only girl for her generation in the family had always been pampered. Who would have thought that the little girl that they all doted on would have brought the family such trouble!
Meanwhile, the parents of the injured boy who arrived at the police station heard everything and started crying, asking Lu Jia : “What have we done to deserve this, Jia Jia?”
Jing Yunzhao heaved a sigh. Did she feel sorry for them? The answer was no.
In fact, she was calmer than ever. Some people might look pitiful during hard times, but when they were worked up, they could turn into vicious beasts that turned on others.
The police officers sighed too.
While it was true that a resident saw them on the day of the accident, all the witness saw was Lu Jia’s gang picking a fight. No one saw what happened after they went into the dark alley, and no one expected anything serious to happen since they were just a bunch of teenagers.
At any rate, the truth had been unveiled.
