Chapter 83 Increasing Han Xifeng's Loyalty
The following day, Wang Jian beckoned Han Xifeng to his chambers, intending to engage in a serious discussion with her.
As Han Xifeng stood before him, her nerves were palpable. It was understandable, given that Wang Jian had taken her virginity while extorting her tribe, and she had no idea what reason he could have for summoning her now.
Wang Jian, aware of her discomfort, decided to break the ice. "Do you hate me?" he asked, cutting straight to the point.
Han Xifeng didn\'t mince her words in response. "Considering what you did to my people and me, should I not hate you?" Her tone was icy and filled with disdain.
Wang Jian acknowledged her justified anger, but he wanted to know the full extent of it. "I understand why you would hate me, but I want to know the specifics," he said, his voice calm and measured.
Han Xifeng\'s response was scathing, "Isn\'t it evident? You violated me while extorting my tribe. Moreover, you killed my lover, and it appears that everything was part of your grand scheme. You targeted us all from the beginning, and you used me to get Fen Shuying\'s heart and body. I cannot comprehend how Su Xian could be in love with a person like you. However, her attitude makes it apparent that she, too, fell victim to your reprehensible schemes."
As Wang Jian continued to process Han Xifeng\'s words, he realized that he needed to take a different approach to manipulate her. He understood that she was a smart and strong-willed woman, and he couldn\'t just use brute force or conventional manipulation tactics on her.
Instead, he decided to use the psychological principle of cognitive dissonance to make her feel responsible for her own actions. He started the conversation by discussing the motives behind his actions, mentioning how everything he did was to protect himself from his enemy, Lin Feng.
"You must understand, Han Xifeng," Wang Jian said, "Lin Feng was my enemy. He wanted me dead, and I couldn\'t just sit back and wait for him to kill me. If not for him, I would never have targeted your tribe or anyone else."
Han Xifeng listened to him intently, nodding slightly in agreement. She knew firsthand how powerful Lin Feng could be and how dangerous it was to be his enemy.
Wang Jian then continued, "I did what I had to do to destroy my enemy completely. And I know you inadvertently helped me acquire Fen Shuying\'s love."
This statement caught Han Xifeng off guard, and she shook her head in confusion. "What do you mean? How did I help you?"
Wang Jian calmly replied, "By signing that deal with me to kill her father and then even lying to her that it was none other than Lin Feng who did it, you helped me get closer to her. I saw her vulnerability, and I used that to make her mine."
Han Xifeng\'s expression changed from confusion to shock. She never realized her actions could have such consequences.
"I...I never thought of it like that," Han Xifeng finally admitted, her voice shaking slightly. "I guess I am responsible for what I did to Fen Shuying."
Wang Jian nodded, satisfied with his progress. He knew that by making her feel guilty, he could potentially make her more compliant to his desires.
"Now that we understand each other," he said, "I hope we can work together towards a better future for both of us."
"Your assumption is misguided. I will never collaborate with you," Han Xifeng retorted with a frigid tone.
Wang Jian regarded Han Xifeng with an air of annoyance. "Your stubbornness is unnecessary and foolish," he remarked coolly. "Consider this: you\'ve already committed the worst. At this moment, your tribe is aligned with me, and it\'s in their best interest to remain that way. We\'ll be departing this region shortly and returning to the mainland."
He adopted a solemn expression. "In the Everlasting Mystic Empire, numerous sects, clans, and associations will be displeased when your tribe returns. The allocation of resources and territory will change accordingly, prompting them to target you. Think about it, who can save you from their assaults? Only me."
Han Xifeng listened intently to Wang Jian\'s words, considering the truth in what he said. After a moment of contemplation, she spoke up.
"You make a compelling argument," she admitted, her tone softer than before. "But how can I trust you? You have already shown that you are capable of great deceit and manipulation."
Wang Jian\'s expression remained impassive. "I understand your concern, but I give you my word. I will never harm your Miracle Angel Tribe as long as you remain loyal to me. Our alliance will only strengthen our positions and ensure our safety."
Han Xifeng hesitated for a moment before finally nodding in agreement. "Very well," she said. "I accept your offer. But remember, any harm that comes to my tribe will result in dire consequences."
Wang Jian nodded in acknowledgement, a faint smile playing at the corners of his lips. "I would expect nothing less," he said.
Wang Jian rose from his seat and strode towards Han Xifeng, his face twisted into a sly grin. "Well then, it seems that our serious talk has come to an end," he said, his voice low and menacing.
Han Xifeng instinctively recoiled from him, taking a step back. "Why are you approaching me like that?" she asked, her voice shaking with fear. "I didn\'t agree to anything like that."
Wang Jian\'s expression darkened. "This is our personal matter," he growled, "and you don\'t have a say in it. You\'re already mine, whether you like it or not."
With that, he lunged towards her, his arm snaking around her waist and pulling her close to his chest. Han Xifeng struggled, but his grip was too strong.
Wang Jian merely chuckled, pressing his body even closer to hers. "Relax, my dear," he whispered into her ear. "I\'m just claiming what\'s mine. And soon, you\'ll see that you want it just as much as I do."
