Chapter 42: It’s The Start Of My Harem

Upon entering, they found Sam lying on the couch, staring at the ceiling.

"He looks so depressed," Yuki sighed.

"No, he\'s being dramatic," Lucy retorted before walking up to him.

"Can we talk?" Lucy asked, crossing her arms.

"Sure, why not? It\'s not like you guys are going to lie or hide things from me again, right?" Sam said sarcastically, shaking his head and smiling to himself.

As soon as those words left his mouth, the girls realized what his problem was. From what they could gather, Sam wasn\'t angry or disappointed about the secret itself or the fact that his family had maintained the lie. What hurt him was that the girls had kept the lie from him.

"I\'m sorry I kept this from you," Yuki said, and for the first time, she grabbed his arm and held it to her chest.

"It\'s not just about the lie... I thought we were friends and on our way to becoming more, but you still kept things from me," Sam said.

Sam didn\'t have any friends. He grew up alone, except for occasional visits from his older sisters and his twin sister, who hated him. He never had a proper relationship with anyone other than his mother and his maternal grandparents.

His sisters were always in Mystic City because they were mages, not heroes like him. Yes, they visited him from time to time, but they were his sisters. They were never consistent and would only stay with him for a couple of days before returning to Mystic City.

His mother... she loved him dearly. There wasn\'t a day that went by where she didn\'t think about him, but she couldn\'t always be there for him. She was one of the leaders of the Imperial Knight Order, and she had more pressing duties than to be there for him.

Not that Sam expected her to be, but he still wished it could happen.

His first-ever true friends—or at least he thought he was forming true friendships—were with Yuki and Isabelle. Despite keeping them at a certain distance, he was just beginning to open up to them. But before he could fully do so, he found out about the whole prophecy thing and that Yuki and Isabelle had been keeping things from him.

And most of all, it made him question if Yuki and Isabelle were truly trying to be his friends or if it was all orchestrated by the High Order to make the prophecy come true.

Sam felt another hand grab his other arm. It was Isabelle. "We are truly sorry we hid this from you," she said softly.

"It\'s not the lie that angers me but the fact that I don\'t know if any of it was even true," Sam replied, looking at each of their faces.

"It was real," Lucy said, cupping his chin with her hands, letting him feel her warmth.

"Whatever you think I felt for you, I did... I may have hidden things from you, but I never falsified my relationship with you."

"You see, I can hear you saying that, but I don\'t know if it\'s real," Sam said, averting his eyes.

Lucy sighed, then gently yanked his hand off of Yuki and placed it on her chest, making him feel her more-than-generous breast.

"What the hell are you doing?" Sam asked, narrowing his eyes at Lucy.

"You have the power to sense my emotions. Now, see what I\'m feeling," Lucy said, holding his hand firmly against her breast.

"Do you think I would let a person I don\'t like touch me like this? So, tell me, am I lying?"

Sam\'s expression changed, his feelings growing more complicated as he sensed that Lucy wasn\'t lying. In fact, none of them were lying now.

The guilty expressions they had shown earlier had vanished, replaced by genuine affection and love.

Even though his conscience wanted to reject this, he couldn\'t, because she was telling the truth.

She truly did love him.

"I hate this emotion-sensing ability," Sam said slowly, placing his other hand over hers.

A small smile formed on Lucy\'s juicy red lips. "Are we good?" she asked gently.

The day passed swiftly, filled with long, arduous conversations between the girls and Sam.

They even delved into the topic of the fourth Saintess, who remained a mystery to all of them.

After their conversation, Sam took some time for himself until the end of the day, long past dinner time.

He hadn\'t gone to bed—more accurately, he tried but couldn\'t sleep.

Instead, he went to the garden and sat on a bench, gazing at the two moons in the dark sky.

"I thought you would be here," Sam heard a very familiar, very lovable voice.

He turned to see a golden-haired young woman approaching, her smile the sweetest he had ever seen.

"How do you know I\'m here?" Sam asked, smiling.

After the secrets were revealed to him, any distance he had felt between himself and the girls had vanished.

He was now beginning to appreciate just how beautiful and unique they were.

"Well, I may not pay as much attention to detail as you do, but I\'ve learned a few things about the boy I like," Isabelle said as she sat beside him. n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om

"Don\'t you think it\'s weird to say that you like me when it\'s only been a couple of weeks since we met each other?" Sam asked.

"You wouldn\'t understand... We are your Saintesses; it\'s kind of our thing," Isabelle replied, subtly wrapping her arm around his.

"This Saintess thing... it doesn\'t force you into feeling things for me, does it? Doesn\'t that concern you or gross you out?" Sam asked.

"Being a Saintess does involve us in your life involuntarily, but it doesn\'t force us into anything," Isabelle replied.

"And don\'t go asking the same thing to the other two... I don\'t think they will take it as well."

"Especially Lucy; she\'s obsessed with you," Isabelle said, rolling her eyes.

"Is that so?"

"You have no idea... Ever since we found out she was the third Saintess, all she ever talked about was you," Isabelle said, sighing.

"Mmm..." Sam sighed, watching her face and mesmerizing green eyes. Sensing his gaze, Isabelle saw Sam\'s face closing in.

Her eyes closed as she moved closer, her heart pounding with excitement.

But her dreamy kiss never came.

Instead, Sam wrapped his arms around her in a deep hug.

"Disappointed?"

"Mm, you can\'t leave a girl hanging like that," Isabelle said, pouting.

"Haha..." Sam looked at her for a few seconds before he kissed her, not on her pink lips, but just beside them.

SMOOCH!!!

"You missed my lips by just an inch," Isabelle said, still pouting.

"Let\'s take it slow."

"Aren\'t we already taking it slow?"

"It\'s only been three weeks since we met."

"Let\'s go home; it\'s getting late," Sam said. He helped her stand up, and they walked back to their home while Isabelle successfully held his hand.

"What are you thinking?" Isabelle asked while walking.

"Nothing... Everything\'s so much clearer now. I don\'t care about this prophecy thing anymore. All it has made me realize is that the prophecy is just a prediction of a future that\'s definitely going to come."

"We can\'t change the future, so why shackle our brains with this?"

"What... what\'s your opinion about us?" Isabelle asked nervously.

"The three of you are going to be with me forever..." Sam said, massaging her face.

"It\'s the start of my harem."
