Chapter 497 Gar’s Trap

Chapter 497 Gar\'s Trap

Fear washed over Purple. He could not help but imagine what would have happened if Lenny had decided to pursue it.

His senses told him that he had just escaped certain death. Instantly, he turned to the Waste Land and fled as fast as he could.

The wild purple demons?

What the heck was that compared to his life?

In no time, Lenny and Moses made it back to the suite. Victor was not with them. He remained at the gate to check in the ten people he was bringing with him into the city of milk and honey.

There was also the extra one that Lenny had carried on his shoulder.

The City of Milk and Honey was quite rigid with its security. And even a person like Victor had certain procedures that he needed to follow to bring people into the city.

Moses had insisted on staying back with him, but Victor had ordered that he come back home to rest. In fact, he had been ordered to enter hibernation, whether he liked it or not.

With the kind of injuries the guard was carrying, there was no other option for him but to comply.

Immediately after they entered the residence, Moses found his way to his room to begin his hibernation process. His body was littered with a lot of wounds.

Wounds that would have killed most by now.

On the other hand, Lenny entered with a metal suitcase in hand and a person on his shoulder.

He dropped the person and assigned one of the maids of the place to take care of him while he went upstairs.

The moment Lenny got to his room, a familiar female body jumped on him, instantly locking lips with him.

From this action, he knew that Gar had taken over the body.

"While you were away, I was a good wife, and I cooked for you!"

"WIFE!?" Lenny thought to himself but did not say anything out loud.

Lenny was not a fool. Ever since Vinegar decided to attach herself to him, he has not complained or pushed her away.

It was not that he did not want to. It was that he could not. Basically, he did not have the strength to.

There was also no possibility of running away.

Lenny had a feeling that if he pushed her away, she was going to do whatever it took to keep him.

At least this way, he had his freedom and only needed to smile at her when necessary.

Even in such a simple situation, power defined the roles, and power stated whose will was permitted to be expressed.

At the moment, it was not his.

Lenny knew how human society worked. A man behaved in a different manner towards his children than he would behave before his friends, co-workers, boss, and also his wife.

Each one of them exciting a different attitude or \'Self\' from him. Such was the way of the world. Whether people wanted to believe it or not, everyone was an actor, playing multiple roles to fit their needs or desires.

Unless one had sufficient power or ability to exert one\'s will on another person, no one was truly themselves.

It was for this reason that many in the old world would think a person they had known for a long time suddenly changed when they acquired money, power, or status.

What they failed to realize is that the individual had only been playing a part because of their circumstances.

Lenny was no different.

Lenny gave Gar a broad smile as she led him forward by the arm.

She brought him to the dining table, where an assortment of dishes had been placed before him.

Then again, Lenny had been fighting all day; he was indeed hungry.

For the duration of the meal, they both looked like a lovey-dovey couple.

More than half the time, it was Gar feeding him, \'Playing\' the role of a good wife.

Once the meal was done, Lenny lay on the couch in a corner, and Gar lay on his chest, stroking his chest tenderly.

Her long fingers danced on the carves of his muscles. "What do you think about marriage? Do you think I will be a good wife?"

"Shit!" Lenny cursed in his head. However, he maintained a straight face.

The female species had a way of weaving questions in a manner that was entirely different from what they actually meant.

Although it appeared as if Gar was asking his opinion about marriage, what she was actually telling him was for him to marry her.

This was a no-go area for Lenny.

He was absolutely not interested in marriage. However, the possibility of Gar understanding this was next to none.

"Emmmm!"

Lenny suddenly felt her fingers on his skin stop their dance and slightly sink in. Not enough for him to be seriously hurt, but just enough for him to understand his situation and choose his answer carefully.

Lenny had not yet answered, and she was already threatening him.

However, if he gave her a confirmation of her request for him to marry her, then he would be putting himself in a trap.

When it came to words, demons were very careful.

Saying the wrong stuff might excite a blood contract.

Lenny was a half-born, certain rules applied to him too.

Lenny could tell that this was her aim.

However, two could play at that game.

"Marriage sounds like a wonderful idea, but I\'m a traditional man. I would rather we get approval from your father first, and there is still Vine. Besides, have you forgotten about the Alpha Selection Tournament? I might die in that place. Surely, you don\'t want me to leave you a widow so soon!"

Instantly, he felt her fingers on his chest become lighter with their pressure. Lenny immediately knew that he had dodged a bullet.

But he had underestimated her.

Gar nodded her head slowly. "What about having children? We can still do that!"

"Shit!" Lenny cursed again.

As he thought of a method to yet again dodge the next bullet, the metal box he had brought with him wriggled violently in the corner.

This box was the one containing Mr. Martin\'s still-alive head.
