Chapter 230: Savior of Nepal (1)
Chapter 230: Savior of Nepal (1)
Beep! Beep!?
‘Oh? You managed to add more functions in that short period of time?’?Han-Yeol thought.
When he first put on the goggles, there was nothing special about them, as their sole purpose was to aim the shoulder cannons. However, today, there was something different about the goggles, although it wasn\'t incredibly amazing. A software had been added to display a summary of today\'s weather, humidity, and a GPS map.
This might not seem particularly impressive, but Han-Yeol was genuinely amazed because Yoo-Bi had managed to accomplish all of this in just four days.
‘Hehehe… I’ll use it well, Yoo-Bi.’
Having gained a new weapon, he was on cloud nine right now.
Zhiiiing!
His perspective shifted after putting on the goggles, and now he could see it.
Thud! Thud! Thud! Thud! Thud! Thud!?
“Kieeeeeeeek!”
“Kwuaaak!”
Lamidanda Airport was located on elevated terrain, and the monsters were currently climbing uphill toward it.
“What a lovely day to shoot cannons~”?Han-Yeol hummed a tune as he aimed at the horde of monsters.
Zhiiing… Kaboom!
His easy-going demeanor was nowhere to be found as he suddenly turned serious, unleashing a barrage of blasts from his shoulder cannons. Moreover, he didn\'t forget to employ one of his favorite skills to cause even more chaos.
Wooong!
It was none other than Enhance. When he first acquired this skill, he never imagined he would be using it so frequently. After all, it required a mana stone to activate. However, his current situation was entirely different from before, as his financial stability was no longer at risk from the expenditure of a few mana stones.
Zhiiiing! Kaboom!
“Kieeeeek!”
“Kwuaaak!”
Han-Yeol’s mana would gather in his shoulder cannons, form a ball of mana, fly toward the monsters, and cause absolute destruction.
“Gwuoooh!”
A monster known as \'Big Foot,\' running on all fours, came rushing up the slope at terrifying speeds. However, it didn\'t get very far as a cannon mana shell exploded right beside it.
Shwiiiing… Kaboom!
“Gwuooooh!”
Thud!
The Big Foot, along with three other insect-type monsters, were hit by the cannon mana shell. The stench of their burning bodies lingered in the air.
***
A thought suddenly came to Han-Yeol’s head while he was busy shooting his shoulder cannons.
‘Hold on… Maybe that would work?’
He gathered his mana and formed an even denser ball before using one of his favorite skills.
‘Mana Explosion!’
Whiiiiing… Kaboooom!
Mana Explosion had been used in tandem with the HSK-447P\'s grenade launcher until now, but that didn\'t mean the skill had to be exclusively used with it.
After using his skill and firing his shoulder cannons, a significant portion of his mana was depleted.
‘Heok!’?Han-Yeol gasped after feeling his mana deplete, but it wasn\'t enough to put him in any danger.
Kwaaaaaang!
The destruction caused by the skill was directly proportional to the amount of mana it drained.
"Wow," he muttered while gazing at the massive explosion triggered by the skill.
This explosion was on a completely different scale compared to the usual ones, as it swept away the entire surroundings with powerful mana, burning the mana within the monsters\' bodies.
‘Wow, I think I hit the jackpot?’?Han-Yeol was stunned after seeing the explosion.
However, the skill consumed quite a lot of his mana, so he could not use it in quick succession. Still, he knew that he was going to use it quite often from now on.
‘Mana Explosion, when used with the grenade launcher, did not leave any trace of the monsters, but this shoulder cannon kills them by burning their mana?’
The shoulder cannons could indeed be considered a revolutionary invention. Han-Yeol was genuinely impressed by Yoo-Bi\'s creation, but he couldn\'t afford to linger in admiration, as he had to focus on blocking the incoming wave of monsters.
Shwoosh!
A faint odor of poison emanated from a considerable distance, and only one creature was capable of emitting such a potent toxin.
‘Mavros!’
It was Mavros’ Poison Breath!
Han-Yeol knew that the black dragon was performing his duties diligently, so he turned his attention to his own battle.
“Kieeeeek!”
He relentlessly fired his shoulder cannons, but their effectiveness was limited. The shoulder cannons were no different from firing mana cannon shells, so the number of monsters didn\'t visibly decrease unless he used Mana Explosion in conjunction with them.
The sheer quantity of monsters was so overwhelming that relying solely on the shoulder cannons was a stretch to begin with.
“But…” Han-Yeol smirked.
“Kieeeeeeek!”
The enraged monsters continued rushing toward Han-Yeol while exuding powerful bloodlust, and they already traversed two hills located on the way to the Lamidanda Airport.
Crack… Kwaaaang!
The ground split before flames shot out.
[Bwahahaha! The Great Balrog-nim has come! Bring it on, you bastards!]
Fwaaaa!
Balrog made quite the grand entrance as he spread out his flames and provoked as many monsters as he could.
[Meaningless…]
[Everything is meaningless…]
The Void Devils were right behind, supporting Balrog in combat.
Balrog might have been an intermediate demon, but it was quite burdensome for him to fight against a swarm of monsters all alone.
And it was still burdensome even with the Void Devils helping him, as the demons couldn\'t display the same powers they possessed in the demon world.
[Bwahahaha! It has been ages since I last felt the thrill of dying!]
As expected, Balrog seemed to be enjoying his current situation.
[Flame Explosion!]
Kaboom!
Balrog shot flames around himself to draw the attention of the monsters, but he was eventually forced onto the defensive as they began to overwhelm him.
[Fire Shield!]
Bam! Bam! Bam! Bam!?
The large shield blocked the slope leading up to the airport and kept the monsters at bay. It wasn\'t that there were no other paths to the airport, but this was the widest road, and most of the monsters had gathered here.
The monsters pounded on the large shield, but it remained steadfast.
[Void Storm!]
[Void Wave!]
The Void Devils utilized their attack skills whenever possible, but they lacked the strength to completely eliminate the oncoming monsters. Nevertheless, their objective was merely to delay the monsters rather than attempting to eliminate them in the first place.
[Good…!]
“Shwooo!”
The area a bit further away from Balrog gradually began to freeze as the Arch Lich and Asus made their entrance onto the battlefield.
[Everything will be frozen by my magic!]
The Arch Lich spread out his arms and shot out his terrifying mana, freezing everything in its path.
Shiver! Shiver! Shiver!?
The monsters began to shiver from the cold, and then they gradually froze stiff due to the fearsome area of effect magic.
Seuk…!
Then, Asus pulled out his blade and rushed into the swarm of monsters.
Chwak!
“Kieeeeek!”
He cleanly sliced a monster in half with a single slash, and the cut was so precise that not a single droplet of blood could be seen anywhere, thanks to Asus\' mana instantly freezing the cut.
Asus was unable to freeze Han-Yeol during their battle, thanks to Arch Lich\'s defensive magic. Han-Yeol would surely have perished in that battle if his Ice Resistance had not been bolstered by the defensive magic.
It could be said that Asus was quite unfortunate that his most potent ability was neutralized by the Arch Lich in that battle. He appeared to be venting his frustration over suffering a humiliating defeat against the monsters in front of him by going on a rampage.
Shwak! Chwak! Chwak!
“Kieeeek!”
The surroundings froze whenever Asus swung his sword, asserting dominance on the battlefield.
"Hoho, they\'re doing quite well." Han-Yeol chuckled after witnessing his summoned demons’ splendid performance.
However, it was still too early for him to relax, as there were still many monsters, and Mavros continued to lure more toward them.
"Well, I suppose we need to clean up before the next wave arrives," he casually muttered, taking a step forward.
Now, it was his turn to join the fray.
Seuk… Chwak…!
He walked toward the front, his Thousand Armed Bodhisattva sword in his right hand and his chain infused with Karvis’ Ego in his left hand.
As expected, the hammer was his preferred choice to attach to the end of the chain. While he could attach other types of weapons to it, he preferred using the hammer for now since he had acquired skills related to it.
Tak!
Han-Yeol kicked off the ground and flew up into the air.
“Haaaaaaap!”?He let out a cry as he landed right at the center of the monsters.
“Tornado Smash!”
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh! Pukeok! Pukeok! Pukeok!?
The chain infused with Karvis\' power flew in all directions, smashing the monsters into minced meat as if they had entered a giant blender.
“Kieeeek!”
“Kyak! Kyak! Kyak!”
The insect-type monsters surrounding Han-Yeol were eradicated. These were low-ranking monsters that would have never dared to challenge Han-Yeol, but their instincts drove them to fearlessly pursue him, despite the bloody mess he had created.
“Kieeeeek!”
“Well, I’m thankful if you’re coming to me,” Han-Yeol said with a smirk as he did not have to chase them down one by one.
Woooong!
Han-Yeol gathered mana in his heart. ‘Well, this is my first time using it…’
He finally had the opportunity to utilize the skill he had recently acquired but never had the chance to use.
‘Its level might be low right now, but… Frozen Field!’?
Wooong! C-Crack…! Crack!
“Kieeeeeek!”
It was the skill he had acquired after transforming his mansion garden into a wasteland.
The monsters that swarmed around Han-Yeol were instantly frozen or suffered severe damage when the five-meter radius around him turned into solid ice.
Whoosh! Pukeok!
“Kieeeeek!”
Han-Yeol swung his chain and shattered the monsters, frozen stiff as if they had been exposed to liquid nitrogen. However, that was not the end of it.
“Cold Chain!”
It was another skill he had recently obtained.
Sseuuuu…!
A powerful cold aura surrounded his chain.
“Sword Breath!”
Fwaaaaa!
Han-Yeol dual-wielded both fire and ice on each hand.
“I’ll crush all of you…!” Han-Yeol gritted his teeth before moving at supersonic speed.
Chwak! Chwak! Chwak! Chwak! Chwak! Chwak!?
He only had one brain, so it was impossible for him to swing both weapons against different targets. It would be possible if he practiced it, but this place was swarming with monsters that such practice would be useless anyway.
However, Han-Yeol had something that no one else possessed.
[Three monsters coming from your ten.]
Chwak! Puk! Puk!
“Kiek!”
[Target neutralized.]
And that was none other than Karvis.
Her role underwent a dramatic transformation after she was infused into the chain. She was no longer limited to merely relaying information to Han-Yeol; now, she could actively control the chain and participate in combat.
Karvis had shifted from being a passive assistant to an active one.
“Nice! Karvis!”
[Heh. This is nothing, Han-Yeol-nim.]
Additionally, Karvis\' Ego seemed to become more defined as Han-Yeol grew stronger. She used to communicate in a one-dimensional manner, like an AI, but recently, she had started to display her own emotions as well.
Han-Yeol had no idea whether this was a positive or negative development, but he decided to ponder it at a later date.
‘It’s not a bad thing that Karvis is becoming more active, after all,’?he thought.
After all, Karvis could better assist him the more active she became, so he decided it was not that big of a deal right now.
[Three monsters behind you, Han-Yeol-nim!]
Whoosh!
As soon as Karvis warned him, Han-Yeol leaped into the air, narrowly avoiding three poison darts that had been aimed at the spot where he had stood just moments before. He was severely outnumbered at this point, and some of the monsters had managed to sneak up right behind him.
“You dare!”
Chwaaaak! Puk! Puk!
“Kiek!”
The monsters\' sneak attack failed miserably, and they paid dearly for it as the hammer infused with the Cold Chain smashed their heads. However, this time the monsters\' heads were crushed in a different manner; upon contact with the hammer, they instantly froze and shattered into pieces a split second later.
"Wow? This is quite impressive," Han-Yeol remarked, slightly taken aback.
Ding!
[The rank of ‘Frozen Field’ has increased from (F) to (E).]
[The rank of ‘Cold Chain’ has increased from (F) to (E).]
“Alright!” Han-Yeol exclaimed and raised his fist triumphantly.
The battle had just started, but two of his skills had already leveled up.
Woooong!
Then, as soon as the message disappeared, the area covered by the Frozen Field expanded.
