Chapter 453 A Large River
Chapter 453 A Large River
The air was thick with anticipation as everyone was excited to step into the center of the forest—a place untouched by humans for thousands of years.
"Finally, we\'ve successfully reached the central part of the Forest Of Never Return!" one person exclaimed, unable to contain his excitement.
"I can\'t believe we\'ve set foot in a place that no one has stepped in for thousands of years!" Another excited shout resounded, filling the atmosphere with excitement and anticipation.
"It seems we\'ve made history today. I can\'t believe this!"
"I couldn\'t agree more. After all, no one has ever set foot in this part of the forest for thousands of years. Our names will surely be recorded in history books," an experienced hunter exclaimed, his eyes glowing excitedly.
King Richard looked at everyone with a small smile, but his expression soon turned somber as he noted that their numbers had significantly decreased after the encounter with the corrupted monsters.
"If we hadn\'t encountered those vile monsters, we could have made it here without any casualties... but sadly, that wasn\'t the case. I pray to the gods above that our fallen comrades find peace in the heavens." King Richard looked at the dark sky and prayed, hoping those who lost their lives to the vile creatures could find peace.
More than a thousand people lost their lives fighting the corrupted monsters, and many were heavily injured, with one or two missing limbs. Some people lost their arms, some lost their legs, others lost their eyes, and some were in critical condition due to life-threatening injuries.
King Richard sighed as he looked at the injured people groaning in pain, with some constantly coughing up blood due to severe internal injuries from the corrupted monsters. He then ordered his men to treat the wounded and feed high-ranking healing potions to those whose conditions were dire and who were in extreme pain.
"We understand, Your Majesty!" His subordinates nodded and immediately began treating the wounded, feeding them healing potions to heal their wounds quickly.
After that, Crown Prince Daniel and Archmage Isadora arrived at the scene and felt pity for the wounded upon seeing their condition. Without wasting much time, they quickly approached King Richard, who was giving orders to some people.
"Your Majesty, since we\'ve come out of the miasma and stepped into the Core Area of the forest, how about we move forward as soon as possible?" Archmage Isadora said, feeling anxious that they might soon encounter a monster they couldn\'t defeat.
"Well, although I hesitate to agree since we have many wounded people, I support her decision as we know nothing about this part of the forest," Crown Prince Daniel spoke hesitantly, also anxious about their current situation.
The Core Area was very weird and mysterious compared to the Middle Area of the forest. The trees here were a bit strange and filled with mystery; perhaps \'abnormal\' would be the best way to describe them. Most of the trees were very tall, almost reaching the heavens. While the bushes and grass didn\'t look mutated, they were very unusual, being much larger and thicker.
Meanwhile, King Richard was silent after hearing Daniel and Isadora\'s words, as though he was deeply contemplating something.
"Well, first we should secure a good place to spend the night and rest. Many of our men are seriously injured, and they need proper rest to recover," King Richard said, looking at the injured people receiving treatment. Hearing their painful moans he sighed.
"That\'s also very true," Archmage Isadora nodded, looking at the injured. "However, staying here for longer would be very dangerous for us. Who knows when the corrupted monsters will appear again and attack us."
"That is indeed very true," King Richard nodded and said. "Let\'s find a good place to set up our camps and secure the area with monster-repelling devices."
"That would be wonderful. Let\'s do as you say. I\'ll order a few experienced hunters to scout the area for us so the injured people can rest without fearing a monster attack," Crown Prince Daniel said, then quickly ordered a few hunters to scout the area.
After that, King Richard ordered everyone to resume moving forward, telling them that it was dangerous to linger here any longer and that they couldn\'t withstand another monster attack.
He then called a few hunters to carry the injured. Once everyone was ready to move forward, King Richard led the group away from the miasma. After wandering aimlessly for a few moments, they ended up in a rocky area with a massive dark river in the distance. The river was quite wide, and they could hardly see the other side of the forest.
A few meters away from the river, they noticed a slightly open area with huge trees surrounding it, providing natural protection from heavy rain. However, there were also a few footprints of unknown monsters on the ground.
"Your Majesty, I think that place would be good for us to set up our camp. The trees will offer natural protection against large monsters and heavy rain, and the location is also away from the river," Archmage Isadora pointed out, showing King Richard the open area with large trees surrounding it.
"I also think that place is a good choice," Crown Prince Daniel nodded, sharing the same opinion as Isadora.
King Richard followed Isadora\'s gaze and thought for a moment before saying, "In that case, let\'s go to that area and order our men to set up the tents there, as well as secure the area with monster-repelling devices."
A few moments later, they arrived at the spot Isadora had pointed out, and King Richard immediately ordered everyone to set up an infirmary facility for the wounded.
After that, he instructed everyone to set up tents and prepare food, as they hadn\'t eaten all day and were extremely hungry.
Meanwhile, Yuan quickly built their tent with Julie and Ava\'s help. With their assistance, it only took him a few minutes to set up everything they needed.
While Yuan set up the tent, Anna quickly retrieved her utensils and began preparing something light for them before having a full-course meal. Since they\'re cultivators and can last for weeks without food and water, they\'re not truly hungry. However, the same can\'t be said for Valeria, Mireya, and Sylvia, who are not cultivators and are probably feeling very hungry after fighting so well against the corrupted monsters.
After finishing the tent, Yuan went to Anna and saw her busy preparing food for everyone. He then looked at Xi Meili, who was watching Anna.
"Xi Meili, how about you come with me and take a look around the river? You must be feeling bored watching Mom Anna prepare the food, aren\'t you?"
"Mmm... I\'m ready, let\'s go!" Xi Meili immediately stood up upon hearing this and wiped the drool from her face.
"Yuan, how about we tag along as well? You won\'t mind our company, would you?"
Just as he was about to leave with Xi Meili, Yuan heard Sylvia\'s seductive voice from behind, making him immediately halt and turn around.
"Sure, why not? I don\'t mind," he then looked at Xi Meili, who was holding his hand. "Do you mind them coming along with us?"
"No, I don\'t mind," Xi Meili smiled sweetly, shaking her head. She looked very adorable to them.
"In that case, let us not waste any time," Sylvia exclaimed with a big smile, pulling Yuan and Xi Meili along with her.
Yuan smiled helplessly at her antics, while Mireya and Valeria shook their heads with awkward smiles on their faces and followed them from behind, not wanting to be left out.
Shortly, they arrived at the massive river. The river was so wide that it was almost impossible for normal people to see the other side. Mireya looked at the river for a moment in a daze and muttered, "I wonder how big the fish are in this river... There might be some species that have gone extinct outside, just like the legendary monsters we encountered."
"The river is quite massive as well as deep. There are definitely a lot of powerful monsters hiding in the muddy water, concealing their presence," Valeria replied with a smile.
Xi Meili then looked Yuan directly in the eye and asked, "Hubby, does fish taste really good?"
\'This cute wife of mine always thinks about eating…\' Yuan couldn\'t help but smile inwardly after hearing this.
Yuan looked at her with a smile, gently cupped her face, kissed her on the lips, and said, "Yes, fish indeed tastes good. Though I haven\'t eaten fish before, not in this world at least, fish has a very unique taste and you\'d love it."
Yuan then looked at the river, closed his eyes, and opened his divine sense to see what kind of monsters were hiding inside the water.
