Chapter 878 Mumu Knows the Truth (1)
Su Jian’an asked someone to send the cake over.
A twelve-inch cake, which was placed on an exquisite dining cart, was pushed over by the staff of the club.
The staff lit the candles and Luo Xiaoxi pressed a button on the remote control. In the flickering candlelight, the catchy song of Happy Birthday resounded through the small villa, bringing them joy and relieving the stress and pressure in the air.
Two staff members lifted the cake and placed it on the coffee table. Mumu immediately ran over to watch.
Luo Xiaoxi and Xu Youning were not skillful enough at decorating cakes, so it didn’t look very exquisite.
However, that was enough for Mumu.
For the first time in a few years, someone remembered his birthday and wanted to celebrate it.
The cake made by Su Jian’an personally was the first birthday cake in his life.
The little boy’s happiness was obvious on his face. He turned to look at the adults. “Auntie Youning, thank you.”
Xu Youning touched the little boy’s head and said, “Blow out the candles.”
Mumu’s eyes sparkled with expectations. “Can I make a wish before I blow out the candles? Well, I saw the children in the cartoons do this on their birthdays!”
“Sure.” Xu Youning said, “You can make three wishes.”
“Wow!” Mumu exclaimed.
His eyes were immediately filled with surprise. It seemed that he was so lucky to make three wishes.
He folded his hands and pressed them against his chin, and then began to make wishes.
“The first wish, I hope that Auntie Jian’an’s babies can grow up very happily! Ah, as well as Auntie Youning’s babies and Auntie Xiaoxi’s babies.”
“The second wish, I hope that all my aunties and Sister Yunyun can celebrate my birthday every year!”
“The third wish, I hope that...”
Mumu’s voice suddenly disappeared. His small lips were moving, and his expression was filled with piety that did not match his age.
No one knew his last wish.
After making the wish, Mumu put down his hands and said, “Auntie Youning, blow out the candles with me.”
The little boy’s clear and bright eyes were shining with the flickering candlelight, which made people reluctant to refuse his request.
Xu Youning nodded. “OK.”
Mumu took a deep breath, and his little cheeks bulged. Then, with a powerful expiration, he blew out all the candles.
Su Jian’an pulled out the candles and handed a plastic cake knife to Mumu. “You can cut the cake now.”
Mumu made a token cut into the cake and left the rest of the cutting to Su Jian’an. After all, he didn’t know how to cut the cake into pieces.
Su Jian’an was good at it. She quickly cut the cake into several pieces and placed each of them on one plate. She first handed the largest piece to Mumu and said, “Have a taste.”
“Thank you, Auntie Jian’an.”
Mumu took the plate and picked up a piece of cake with an exquisite small fork. When he was about to put it to his lips, he suddenly thought of something.
He put down the cake and blinked in confusion, asking, “Where’s Granny Zhou?” Then he turned to look at Xiao Yunyun. “Sister Yunyun, didn’t you say that Granny Zhou was back? Why didn’t she come out to celebrate with us?”
“...”
It was such a sudden question that the adults didn’t know how to answer it.
Mumu tilted his head and ran to the kitchen. “Granny Zhou!”
Seeing that Aunt Zhou was not in the kitchen, Mumu ran upstairs and opened the door. “Granny Zhou?”
The room was dark and empty. Aunt Zhou was still not there.
Mumu was puzzled and said, “Hmm?” Then he turned around and ran downstairs. He tugged at the hem of Xu Youning’s clothes and asked, “Auntie Youning, where is Granny Zhou?”
“Granny Zhou...” Xu Youning’s voice suddenly stopped. She didn’t know what to say next.
Mumu blinked and looked at the others, only to find that they looked as vexed as Xu Youning.
He thought for a while and slowly realized something. He loosened his grip on Xu Youning’s hand, and with his eyes darkening little by little, he slowly lowered his head.
Xu Youning held the little boy’s hand. “Mumu.”
Mumu didn’t respond. Tears flowed out of his eyes and fell on the carpet continuously.
Xu Youning held the little boy’s shoulder with one hand and touched his face with the other. “Mumu, you...”
Mumu raised his head and stared at Xu Youning with tears in his eyes. He interrupted, “My daddy took Granny Zhou away, didn’t he? Mr. Mu is against... my daddy, right?”
“...”
After Mumu blurted out the truth, the living room was shrouded in complete silence.
Although Mumu was young, he knew that such silence represented a tacit consent.
He wiped his eyes and asked, “Auntie Youning, what does my daddy want?”
Su Jian’an was very surprised. Mumu was only four years old, but he actually knew that Kang Ruicheng kidnapped Aunt Zhou for a certain purpose!?
Should she say that the child was intelligent, or be sorry that the environment deprived him of the innocence that children should have?
Seeing that the adults did not reply, Mumu continued, “You’re going to send me back, so Daddy wants Auntie Youning to go back, right?”
“Mumu.” Su Jian’an squatted down and wiped away the little boy’s tears. “Anyway, we won’t hurt you. So, don’t be afraid.”
Mumu pouted and said, “But I don’t want Auntie Youning to go back.”
Su Jian’an was even more surprised. She blurted out, “Why?”
Everyone could see that Mumu was heavily dependent on Xu Youning.
Once Mumu went back, he would be separated from Xu Youning forever.
But he actually said that he didn’t want Xu Youning to go back.
Didn’t he want Xu Youning to accompany him to grow up?
Mumu burst into tears. “Because Auntie Youning has a baby. Mr. Mu is the baby’s father. I don’t want the baby to be separated from his father.”
He had been forced to be separated from Kang Ruicheng since he was very young. No child knew better than him the feeling of loneliness.
He didn’t want Auntie Youning’s baby to leave her father and stay lonely like him.
After that, Mumu cried louder and louder. He sobbed sadly and could not even utter a complete sentence.
In fact, he didn’t want to be separated from Xu Youning.
But now, his daddy had taken Granny Zhou away. If he wanted to save her and let Uncle Mu accompany the baby to grow up, he had to be separated from Auntie Youning.
He couldn’t describe how sad he was now, and he was even sadder than when he was forced to leave his daddy.
Su Jian’an saw Mumu crying so hard, and her heart softened instantly. She touched Mumu’s head and said, “Don’t cry, we will solve this problem.”
Mumu shook his head and looked at Xu Youning, asking, “Auntie Youning, ask Uncle Mu to send me back. I can ask Dad to send Granny Zhou back.”
Xu Youning said, “Mr. Mu and Mr. Lu have plans. Let’s listen to them, okay?”
Mumu nodded. “Okay.”
Xiao Yunyun watched it, and her eyes turned red at some point. She picked up Mumu’s cake and handed it to him. “Mumu, are you hungry? Eat something first.”
They were all adults, so they could eat nothing for the time being. However, Mumu was a child, and he was shooting up, so he could not eat nothing.
Mumu touched the cream with his finger, tasted it and forced a bright smile. “It’s tasty!”
“Then eat much!” Xiao Yunyun picked up another piece of cake and said, “I’ll eat with you.”
“I’m also a little hungry.” Luo Xiaoxi sat over and said, “Let’s eat together.”
Mumu nodded, and the tears on his long eyelashes suddenly dripped down. He hurriedly lowered his head and took a bite of the cake, not letting the adults see his tears.
Luo Xiaoxi and Yunyun accompanied Mumu while Su Jian’an and Xu Youning went back to the villa next door.
The sky was already dark, and in the lights, the two slim figures cast long shadows. The cold wind was whistling, but it sounded somewhat bleak.
Su Jian’an suddenly said, “Youning, you don’t have to worry that Mumu will be used by Kang Ruicheng after he returns. This child is more intelligent and sensible than we thought. I believe that he can distinguish good from evil.”
“Mumu is only four years old.” Xu Youning smiled bitterly and added, “It is not a fortune but a misfortune for him to distinguish good from evil at his age.”
Su Jian’an said with a sigh, “But, there’s nothing we can do. Youning, he’s Kang Ruicheng’s son.”
Born as Kang Ruicheng’s son, Mumu was destined to bear something beyond his age.
Not long after they returned to the villa, Su Yicheng also came back.
After Luo Xiaoxi was pregnant, Su Yicheng was much calmer than before, and his every move revealed his current happiness and satisfaction.
But today, he seemed to be in a hurry.
Su Yicheng went straight to Su Jian’an. “Boyan called me and asked me to come back early, saying that Auntie Tang had an accident. Jian’an, what happened?”
Xu Youning felt that she should be the one to explain this accident.
She stood up and said, “Kang Ruicheng kidnapped Aunt Zhou and Auntie Tang in order to force Mu Sijue to send me and Mumu back.” She paused for a second and then continued, “Brother Yicheng, I’m sorry.”
When Xu Youning’s grandmother was young, she had taken care of Su Yicheng for some time.
Later, every time Su Yicheng went to City G, he would definitely visit Granny Xu. Over time, he became familiar with Xu Youning and cared about her as if she were his biological sister.
However, Xu Youning had hidden countless things from Su Yicheng, which not only almost caused Su Jian’an to divorce Lu Boyan, but led to Auntie Tang’s being kidnapped.
Su Yicheng looked at Xu Youning with a gentle look. “Youning, it’s not your fault. But remember to discuss it with us if you encounter any trouble in the future. Don’t bear everything alone.”
Just like when Xu Youning decided to follow Kang Ruicheng, if she discussed it with him, he would never agree, and nothing would happen today.
Xu Youning didn’t expect that Su Yicheng would still care about her in such a situation. She nodded, and her heart was filled with bitterness.
“Also, you can’t go back to Kang Ruicheng.” Su Yicheng’s tone was unprecedentedly strong. “You are pregnant. Once you go back, Kang Ruicheng will not allow this child to live, and you will also be in danger. Do you understand?”
Xu Youning nodded. “I see. Brother Yicheng, I’ll listen to you.”
“Brother.” Su Jian’an ran to Su Yicheng and asked, “Did Boyan tell you anything else?”
Su Jian’an was very worried about Lu Boyan, but she did not dare to call him, for fear of disturbing him.
She could only get some information from the ones who had been in contact with Lu Boyan.
“Boyan told me to come back early and take good care of you,” said Su Yicheng. “In addition, he specifically told you not to think too much but to wait for him to come back.”
