Chapter 552 Level 7 [2]: The Grey Fog
Even though the injury wasn't heavy, it would take at least a few minutes for even a level 7 body awakener to heal it.
Even if he went a step ahead and took a potion, it'd still take around thirty to forty seconds.
But this…it healed him in the blink of an eye.
'Healing…Wonderful!' Varian's face lit up.
This was his plantae's specialty. The price was a poor attack and poorer speed. But Varian was more than willing to pay.
Unlike potions, this healing ability would increase with each sub-level and level.
'Not just that, it's at the same range, if not better than heal fighters.' Varian compared his own healing to theirs and nodded.
After reaching level 7, the body awakener paths once again diverged.
Enhanced —> Superhuman
Superhuman was essentially Enhanced on steroids.
Enhanced —> Extreme
Extreme was an awakener whose base attributes were lower than superhuman, but they had a single property that's way higher than the superhuman.
For instance, Extreme could have lower defense, and attack than superhuman, but could have much higher speed. These types tend to be assassins and informants.
Then came the other two divisions.
Controller —> Shifters.
Unlike controllers who could only 'heighten' one attribute, Shifters could heighten multiple attributes.
For instance, when attacking, they could increase their strength as well as speed according to the ratio they liked.
This wouldn't seem much, but in higher levels of battle, precision was everything.
Then the final one was Controllers —> Heal Fighters.
They were somewhat equivalent to Extreme Awakeners whose healing reached a very high level.
They start off as the weakest in the body awakeners, even weaker than shifters in their base stats.
But Heal Fighters could push themselves again and again to reach great heights. In the end, they could even end up stronger than any other body awakener.
It was all made possible due to their healing properties—their healing was the best out of any path.
And now, Varian's healing powers were as good, if not more, than a heal fighter.
"This…is broken." Varian sighed. "Heal fighter's healing and Superhuman attributes…it's going to be ridiculous."
Now, he could also push himself further and further. He wouldn't need many potions either.
Varian was looking forward to battles.
But the bubbling aura inside his body reminded him that the business wasn't over yet.
He sat back down and focused.
Mind Paths.
Telekinetic and Telepath.
The mind power in the purple orb was equally split between these two. The mind power in Varian's brain began to grow. But instead of expanding, it started to compress.
If it was previously like an invisible gas, it now began to condense and became a thicker colorful cloud.
Shuaa!
At the same time, the telekinetic power in Varian's body rose and it also began to be compressed.
In a few minutes, Varian's eyes shot open and a blue light flashed in his eyes before they returned to normal.
With a single thought, an invisible force took the shape of a knife and slashed at the floor.
Shuaa!
The tiles broke apart and a huge crack appeared on the floor.
"…A bit weaker than my lightning, but considering its dexterity, it is as good." Varian rubbed his chin and nodded in appreciation.
Then, his expression turned serious and he closed his eyes.
Whoosh!
His telepathic, no, psychic power reached his palace of memories. He quickly reached the place he had been visiting every day.
The grey fog—the foreign psychic power blocking his memories of Sia.
Varian observed it and compared it to his own. The greyness was too rich. Once again, Varian was sure that this grey fog, this psychic power belonged to Sovereign Kreo.
"That son of a bitch!" Varian cursed wantonly before focusing back on the grey fog.
He found this during the solar banquet. It had been a few weeks since then. And he had been trying to chip away the grey fog bit by bit every day.
Since he was only a level 6 telepath, he could only do so much. But since he did it every day, the progress was visible.
[90% fog left]
Yep, he asked the system to calculate the progress. It didn't help much most of the time, so he decided to use it when he could.
"It took me so many days to clear up 10%." Varian sighed remembering his own joy seeing the number dip bit by bit.
"Now, I'm a level 7." With a smile, his psychic power rushed to the edge of the fog.
The grey fog was both of higher quality and quantity than his own psychic power. But it was ownerless and only did its job mindlessly.
On the other hand, while weaker than the grey fog, Varian's psychic power moved according to a clever strategy.
It focused all its power on a single point of the grey fog and using the numbers advantage, it started nibbling away at the grey fog at the edges.
The grey fog fought back, but only the part that was being attacked. So, Varian's psychic power was able to win, albeit suffering hits.
With each nibble, bits and parts of memories began to fill Varian's mind. Previously, they were at the beginning of High School's second year.
The past of the 16-year-old Varian now resumed.
Every day, he went to school with Sia. They bickered and fought, but every time, they were back together.
Sia began to grow more and more popular due to her power and looks.
Meanwhile, Varian began to grow more and more desolate as he kept failing to awaken.
Varian thought he'd turn bitter at the differences. But his past self's relationship with Sia only got better.
Sometimes, he even talked about his own insecurities with her. Their growing difference, his fear of losing her, how he felt about being compared to her in the school, and more.
Sia remained supportive. Even though she didn't reveal it, she fought everyone who spoke ill against him.
She got into tough fights and got injured many times. But like she always did, she hid those injuries.
She didn't know the 16-year-old Varian knew what she was hiding. He didn't expose her.
So, they lived caring for each other in an uncaring world.
Varian increased his efforts and so did Sia.
As his memories rolled on, he reached a special day.
