Chapter 423 A Fight.
In a rare moment of coolheadedness, Valerie touched her husband\'s chest softly as she tried to calm him down.
"It will be fine though… We can still collect it at a later date."
"Are you not concerned that the day we find the weapon again will be the day it is used against us?"
"Well, no. I realize that it is an inevitability, but am I concerned about it…? Not really."
"What?"
"I don\'t mean to sound arrogant. But you must already be aware that we would never allow anything to happen to you.
Even if someone comes to use the sword against you, we will kill them and take it back all the same. No matter what we have to do."
"You should not need to protect me-"
Abaddon knew that he\'d made a mistake as soon as he said the words.
The look on Valerie\'s face quickly changed from one of softness to anger and agitation.
"Oh yea? And tell me why exactly we shouldn\'t need to protect you? Because you\'re stronger than us? Because accepting our help would be beneath you?"
"Of course not, my love. But I do not want any of you to burden yourselves unnecessarily."
"Damn it, Abaddon, we\'re married! You can\'t just pick and choose what you share with us! We are supposed to carry everything together, no matter what!"
"I know this, Valerie. But how could I ever stand to see any of you put yourselves in harm\'s way for me?"
"We want to while we still can!!"
Inadvertently, tears began to fall from Valerie\'s eyes and Abaddon felt his heart tear into two.
Frustrated, his wife leapt down from his arms and seemed like she was going to storm off when he grabbed her from behind and held her in place.
She clenched her fists as she wiped away her tears, but she did not wrestle to get free.
When she finally spoke, her voice cracked continuously as she tried to speak through her tears.
"We like… being able to help you, Abaddon. It is what we live for… but we won\'t get to do it forever..."
"Why would you not…?"
"Ha.. I\'m not surprised you haven\'t thought about it, since you are the kind of man who takes his own life day by day." Valerie said with a dry laugh.
"Thought about what..?"
"The way and the rate that you grow… it is scary. The purity of the aether and nether inside your body grow immeasurably every day.
You are going to be..so, so powerful. You will be able to do anything, be everywhere… you won\'t need us to help you anymore, and you barely do now..!"
Abaddon immediately turned Valerie around and cupped her face in his hands.
"I will always needyou."
"No… you won\'t. I am not saying you won\'t always love us or that we won\'t be married, but one day you will not need us to help you do the little things that we enjoy… and we will lose something on that day… Because what can you give to the man who has everything?"
"Valerie, listen to me." Abaddon said desperately.
Though Valerie fell silent, she did not stop crying.
"I don\'t care what I become in the future, you girls will always be my partners and other halves.
Without even one of you, I would forget how to breathe.. how to think. I could not be the father that our children need, or the leader that our people depend on.
You girls.. give me everything, whether you are making an active effort or not.
If I ever become a being that makes you feel any differently, I would give up all of that power in an instant if it gave you peace of mind."
"Y-You don\'t mean that.."
"You are such a stubborn woman… I have never meant anything more in my entire life."
Because Valerie had yet to stop crying, Abaddon ended up shedding a few rare tears as well.
Both of them became locked in place as they stared at each other at their most vulnerable.
With their hearts on the mend and a bit more understanding than they first had, they seemed to be unable to pull away from each other- like they were just waiting for an unknown outside stimuli to give them reason to move.
""I\'m sorry… / Please forgive me…"
It should be noted that Abaddon and his wives hardly ever fight.
But each time they do, there is a fear that takes root in them afterwards that makes them feel absolutely sick to their stomach.
\'I was so mean to him.\'
\'I was so inconsiderate.\'
\'I shouldn\'t have yelled at him.\'
\'I have to make more of an effort to listen to them.\'
\'I want to be a better wife…\'
\'I want to be a better husband…\'
Amidst the sea of thoughts that overtakes the two, there is one commonality that is always shared between them.
And like clockwork, it is always the one that brings them right back together.
\'I love him… / I love her…\'
The two of them leaned in towards each other at the same time and brought their lips together in a kiss that was neither lustful, nor depraved.
But it was desperate in nature.
From the depth of their being, both of them needed to transmit their love and regret over to each other so that they could move forward.
But this particular time, a kiss not appear to be enough.
Without saying a word, the two began to undress each other.
It was slow and full of gentle intent, as they allowed each other to feel the weight of each other\'s fingers as they pulled away their shirts and unbuckled each other\'s pants.
"This is a museum!"
With drunk, lazy looks, Abaddon and Valerie momentarily broke their kiss as they stared at the rest of their family.
The seven remaining wives all had their arms folded; almost like this was the first depraved act they couldn\'t look past or join in on.
Lisa: "Really guys?"
Lillian: "We could at least go back to the hotel first."
Bekka: "Did you atleast get the sword, or was your focus solely on other long rods of metal?"
Audrina: "Don\'t forget that you\'re carrying now too, Val."
Tatiana: "Actually, female sex goddesses can shift their insides around to protect a child during intercourse!"
Audrina : "I can\'t decide if that\'s cool or depraved."
Tatiana: "Lil bit of both!"
Lailah was the only one who seemed to notice that things between Valerie and Abaddon were not as they seemed.
They both had desperate, needy looks in their eyes that only showed up when they were in desperate need of make-up sex.
She smiled at them both sweetly as she uncrossed her arms.
"I..think I\'m also feeling a bit pent up. Why don\'t we all head back and then…"
With lithe steps like a serpent, Lailah glided towards the two of them and her eyes flickered into a brand new violet color.
She slipped her soft and dexterous hands into Abaddon\'s boxers and Valerie\'s panties that were already wet; earning soft groans from them both as they practically salivated with need.
"We can all show each other… just how much we need each other. How does that sound?"
Needless to say, Abaddon and Valerie could only withstand so much provocation.
Just as he was about to teleport them all out of there, Lailah\'s eyes picked up something interesting.
On the alter where the sword of goujian once sat, there was a very small marking carved into the wood.
She recognized it easily as a low level form of magic that barely qualified as such, but it\'s purpose was what she found slightly noteworthy.
In summary, it sends a signal to a specific location whenever the item that was resting on the sigil has been moved for any reason.
Similar to a pressure sensor, only the signal can not be cut or jammed.
And judging by the barely oxidized wood, the sigil was freshly carved.
Lailah smiled wryly as she realized that she was going to have to put the group\'s antics on hold after getting them even more hot and bothered.
"Actually… bad news, my loves. I think we\'re about to-"
The alarm bells in the minds of all ten of them suddenly rang loudly as they felt numerous presences approaching from outside the museum.
"Seems they are here already. What a slow response time."
The group would have been nervous that this would turn into a larger collision, but there was just one thing stopping that.
The beings that were approaching were not gods or humans, they were monsters.
And with vampires making up the largest percentage, they were certain that they were coming here to talk.
Though why they had chosen to do this in this particular manner, Lailah had a few ideas.
Valerie became so angry at their sudden arrival that her own glasses cracked from the pressure she gave off.
"I\'m not in the mood for this.. I just want to go back home!"
A brief, thoughtful light shone in Abaddon\'s eyes.
He lifted Valerie back into his arms before turning his attention to the rest of his wives.
"My loves, I\'m going to leave this matter up to you to handle… Valerie and I have some making up to do."
Lisa smiled warmly at this as her eyes crackled with blue lightning.
"Alright then! We\'ll join you both later once everything is settled here."
"Don\'t exhaust yourselves before we get back!" Audrina added.
""Not possible.""
When Valerie and Abaddon disappeared, the warm and gentle demeanor of the remaining wives vanished like a mirage.
Lailah bit off two of her fingers in quick succession, and the discarded parts of her flesh became enormous white snakes that were large enough to swallow a man whole.
The goddess watched her fingers grow back in mere seconds and gave her immaculate plum nails a quick glance over before she started to head outside.
"Alright, girls. Let\'s see who has come calling so late at night, hm?"
