Chapter 133 Shame
Dan watched as the blade flew past him. Even though the attack didn't touch him in anyway, he could still feel the scorching heat from the blade.
He couldn't help but be glad that he decided not to wait until the attack closed in on him, it was clear that he would have taken quite the damage.
The attack continued on its trail for a few more seconds, before finally disintegrating and vanishing into the air.
A deep frown appeared on his face, as his gaze went back to Han who could barely stand on his feet.
Han's eyes widened as he watched his final attack miss. He and infused all his mana into that spell, and now, his mana core was completely drained.
The pain he felt in his head grew worse, and his face turned pale as the effect of mana exhaustion hit him at full force.
This time, Dan didn't bother taunting Han anymore.
He suddenly dashed forwards, using the winds around his feet to propel himself.
Just thinking about the last attack made him furious.
He pulled one of his hand backwards before rapidly channeling his elemental mana, in preparation for another spell.
"Spinning Air ball!" Following his shout, wind rapidly gathered around his palm, before condensing into a small ball that spun in a spiral manner.
He didn't waste anytime before launching the attack towards Han.
Swoosh!
The ball made of condensed winds tore through the air with astonishing speed, rapidly closing in on Han.
Han's eyes widened as he tried to escape the attack, however, his legs failed him and he couldn't even move from his position.
In the blink of an eye, the attack closed in on him.
The air ball slammed into his chest with full force, and the impact of the attack sent him flying with his back arched backwards.
"Arrgh!" Han grunted in pain. It felt like his chest was hit by a truck, and he could a sharp metallic taste in his mouth.
His body crashed on the hard ground, sliding backwards by a few feet before finally stopping.
The fact that he was already suffering from mana exhaustion only served to increase the pain he felt, and he couldn't help but weakly grasp his chest in pain.
Han tried to stand up, but his body was too weak and even making little movements took caused him pain.
Seeing Han in this state, a smile crept up on Dan's face.
But despite Han's weakened state, he still didn't relent, and charged forward again, preparing to cast another attack spell.
'Don't think it's over yet!' He thought, as he prepared his mana again, with a wide smile on his face.
Usually, stage one elementalist couldn't cast that many spells in succession. There was a reason fights between stage one elementalists ended quickly, and that was mainly because of their low amount of mana.
However, Dan was different, and it was all due to his talent. He was very talented in channeling mana, and very little amount of elemental mana is wasted when he cast spells.
He was only in his fourth academy year, and it was due to his talent that he managed to become an elite student.
However, just as he was about to cast the spell, the spiky-haired fire instructor, supervising the match suddenly stepped in.
A slight frown was on his face, as he stretched one of his hand towards Dan, signifying that the duel was over.
One thing the academy tried to avoid at all cost was death during duels. The moment it seemed like the fight was starting to go out of control, or one of the participants lost consciousness, the duel would be stopped.
If a participant also seemed too weak to continue, the referee would also step in and end the fight.
He then went over to Han to check on his condition. The man nodded his head in pity when he saw Han's condition.
Laying right there on the floor was Han, however, his eyes were closed and he had lost consciousness.
It happened while Dan was busy charging forward. Since Dan was so overwhelmed with landing one more attack, he didn't notice this.
Dan's sneered when he saw this, feeling annoyed that he wasn't able to smack Han one last time.
The instructor forcefully placed a pill into Han's mouth, and almost immediately, Han's face started regaining color and his consciousness gradually came back to him.
Just then, an announcement rang through the speakers in the hall.
[And we have the winner of this duel! Dan Hills!]
However, even after the winner was declared, the whole hall was silent as everyone was still busy figuring out what really happened during this duel.
It all seemed so shocking, majority of them didn't expect this kind of result, at all.
As for Han, he gritted his teeth in frustration. Though his consciousness had finally returned to him, he wished the instructor had just dragged him away from the stage, without giving him a healing pill.
Because now, he had to face the stares coming from the students watching the duel.
Thinking about how weak he seemed during the duel, he felt so ashamed and he wanted nothing more than for the ground to swallow him up.
While he already knew that a day like this would come one time or another, he was still unprepared for the shame and embarrassment that came with it.
While Han was busy feeling ashamed of himself, Dan didn't have any worries. He was the victor of the duel, and that was enough to make him happy.
He had to admit, defeating Han didn't feel as fulfilling as he thought it would, but finding himself as the center of attention, still felt very satisfying.
Seeing as all the student's eyes were on him, a smile bloomed on his face and he started throwing kisses towards the audience like a pop star.
A strange glint flashed through Harry's eyes as he watched Han walk away from the stage dejectedly.
'This result was expected, the only thing I didn't expect was that Han would actually last this long.' Harry thought.
Watching the duel was surprisingly boring for him, mainly because all the spells exchanged in the duel seemed like it was playing in slow mode.
The duel he actually looked forward to was the one between Nathan and the elite student known as Farhen.
During the last few days, he made some research on the Lane family using the internet, and what he saw was actually quite surprising.
