Chapter 43: Demons & Magic Circle
Chapter 43: Demons & Magic Circle
[Black Grape]
_Grade: Rare.
_Effect: It can increase Magic by 50 points for one hour and can also be used as a material for Alchemy.
"Alchemy?" Isabella was surprised.
"Interesting. Maybe we can eventually use Alchemy as we progress?" Erix mused.
"I wonder what else is there for us to discover in this changing world," Rin sighed in amazement.
Suddenly, Rin, Erix, and Isabella saw a notification window popping in their vision, along with a voice ringing in their heads.
[ World Announcement: The first floor of all ten Labyrinth Towers will open in 10 days. ]
Not just them but every single person in the world got this notification.
"Why does this f-feel like a game?" Isabella asked, stammering in slight fear as she spoke. "Is someone controlling and observing our world? Is this punishment of humans?"
"No!" Erix narrowed his eyes. "There is something happening, but we are on our own. If not, I would\'ve turned into a zombie and got killed by someone instead of standing before you two."
"Whatever it is, I feel like we will get answers gradually. The first stop is that labyrinth tower in Phoenix City," Rin sharply grinned. "After we complete the dungeon here, we\'ll go there without any stop."
…
Erix put the Black Grape in his inventory and gave Venom Ball skill and Dark Venom Knife to Isabella.
She needed a melee weapon, so this Venom Ball skill and Dark Venom Knife were perfect for her as a combo. After all, the knife could reduce the target\'s poison resistance, and then Venom Ball could make quick work of the target.
[Venom Ball (1st Tier active skill): Conjure a ball of venom capable of corroding even metal and dealing poison damage. The corrosion effect and poison damage depend on the user\'s Magic stat.]
After the trio was done, they started roaming to find monsters around or above level 50 to kill.
They needed to fulfill several requirements, which they could only complete by killing certain monsters.
First, their class awakening requirements.
Second, their skill upgrading requirements.
Isabella had also chosen an advanced class, <White Elemental Mage>, so she also needed to kill certain Supra-Order monsters of plant types to complete her tasks.
Currently, they were flying on the Eagle to observe the city, but they didn\'t find their targets despite roaming for half an hour.
"This is a bit tricky. Where do we even find our targets?" Rin sighed as she looked at her class task progress. "With our current capabilities, we just need to find and kill the targets."
[Tasks]
-8 days left.
-> Kill fifty sentient beings or mutated monsters below level 50. (50/50).
-> Kill one Supra-Order (level 50+) random monster. (0/1).
-> Kill one Supra-Order (level 50+) demon and absorb its origin core (0/1).
"There you go again," Erix lightly chopped on her head, "They are not mindless monsters like that frog, spider, and that flower. Our targets are proper intelligent beings, and anyone who has reached above level 50, the so-called Supra-Order rank, is bound to be strong."
"Tsk, I know. I was just saying," Rin stuck out her tongue before she let out a dry chuckle. "I am just being impatient because I want to see the power of our classes."
"Guys, I think there\'s something in that place," Isabella pointed at a factory below. "I saw a few red humanoid creatures with horns entering inside. They seemed different than the ones we saw in my village, but… they are demons, I think."
"Let\'s go there," Erix commanded the Eagle to fly there as a glint passed through his eyes. "If they are demons, then we have some business with them. I want to capture and speak with them if possible, like how the hell they arrived here and why."
"That\'s a very good idea," Rin chimed in as her voice and eyes became lively. Finally, the situation she was seeking arrived!
"Mum, are we going to beat bad guys like we saw in our village?"
"Yep."
"I also want to beat them. When can I do that?"
Rin chuckled and ruffled Aaron\'s head. "You can do that after you grow up, okay?"
"Grow up? Like brother Erix?"
"Exactly."
"Ok," Aaron seriously nodded with his tiny fists clenched. "I will eat lots and grow up quickly."
Isabella smiled and kissed his forehead. "But for now, just do what we say so you can grow up, okay?"
"Mhmm," Aaron nodded.
…
After silently descending into an alley, the trio moved towards the broken wall leading into the warehouse from the back.
Meanwhile, Erix told the Eagle to fly up high and roam with Aaron on it.
"Ew, this stench is way too thick," Rin frowned as she neared the broken wall with a hole and peeked inside. "What the hell are they doing? It\'s similar to what we saw in the village," she whispered.
Isabella felt like puking because of the stench, but her stomach churned intensely when she saw the scene inside.
She immediately turned around, bent down, and started puking.
"Let them continue. I want to see what they are going to do with that magic circle and that mountain of corpses," Erix squinted his eyes as he saw five demons around level 35 standing in a circular formation with a small mountain of corpses in the middle.
"I hope they summon a Supra-Order demon so I can complete my class task," Rin grinned.
Below the corpse mountain was a magic circle, and they were seemingly doing something akin to a ritual while pouring mana for a purpose unknown to the trio.
Time passed as seconds turned into minutes, and the magic circle started glowing with a crimson flare.
After the magic circle started glowing, the mountain of corpses started vanishing as if getting absorbed by the magic circle.
Every corpse disappeared in just several seconds, not even leaving behind a single drop of blood on the magic circle.
*Shaaa!*
And then came a burst of demonic laughter as a malevolent aura started oozing out of the magic circle along with a humanoid creature that slowly emerged from it.
Its prominent head had two long and curvy black horns, its skin dark red with gray markings, and its eyes were dirty yellow with a red hue.
It stood three meters tall after coming out of the magic circle as he let out another roaring laughter.
"Good work! Now, go and bring me some living delicacy! I need to stabilize myself before going out!"
The demon spoke before he sat down cross-legged on the floor and crossed his arm. \'I better get some energy before going out since I heard some humans immediately killed Toeaj after he was summoned.\'
Despite thinking that, his mouth still drooled upon seeing the warehouse littered with the flesh of humans and creatures that those minor demons ate.
\'Damn, I can\'t wait to eat some lively fresh blooded humans!\'
On the other hand, Rin\'s eyes shone upon inspecting the demon.
\'This is it! A supra-order demon!\'

She turned to Erix and saw that he was also looking at her.
"Darling, we got to kill him."
"Of course, but let\'s quickly get out for now because I have a plan."
The three of them quickly left the alley while Erix called his Bloodwood Eagle to descend fifty meters away from the warehouse.
"What\'s the plan?" Isabella asked.
Erix smiled.
"Since he is staying in the warehouse, let me drop a bomb as our starter attack."
Rin tilted her head before asking, Are we coming up with you?"
Erix shook his head, "You two will stay at the end of that alley with Aaron and enter after I drop my attack. I will go all out because I want to test something."
"Alright."
Rin and Isabella nodded.
After the Bloodwood Eagle arrived, Erix started controlling several metal boards and objects before creating a condensed, thick, and big sphere of metal weighing approximately 1000+ kilograms.
Erix still remembered that notification about building up Metal Affinity, so he wanted to go all out and break his limit to make that notification appear again.
"After dropping the bomb, I\'ll put Aaron back on this bird to keep him safe in the sky."
Isabella nodded.
"Erix, you better not kill that demon with that single attack," Rin said speechlessly. "I need to kill it for my class task."
Erix wryly smiled.
"I know, and I doubt this will be enough to kill it even though he has low Vitality. Alright, now go take your positions, I am going up," he said before commanding the Eagle to fly up.
