Chapter 32

Taking advantage of the moment, Cao Ke initiated a conversation, asking, “Brother Wu, how old are you?”

Wu Ping hesitated, pondering the complexity of his age. “Hmm? How old am I?”

“That’s right,” Cao Ke pressed.

Uncertain how to respond, Wu Ping finally replied, “Age is not important.”

Cao Ke understood the implied message — he wasn’t very old. The two continued their journey, heading back home, where Wu Ping had previously filled a pit with zombie corpses. However, some exposed saplings indicated that there was room for more.

Wu Ping regretted killing the people too early; the pit wasn’t large enough. The smell of blood, while still overwhelming, wasn’t as potent as he desired. Watching the saplings greedily absorb flesh and blood, Wu Ping encouraged them, “Eat more and grow quickly. My life will depend on you in the future.”

Turning his attention to his companions, Wu Ping realised they were in an awkward position. As a leader, he needed to reward his followers to ensure their loyalty and commitment to plant trees for him. Wu Ping understood that he needed more people to hunt zombies and feed the magic tree.

As for their sustenance, Wu Ping planned to provide them with plenty of seeds. Additionally, food was abundant in the vast world of cultivating immortals, and Wu Ping had the means to share with those who satisfied him.

Returning to the conference room, Wu Ping found Xu Feifei guarding sacks filled with zombie crystal nuclei. Closing the door, he sat and addressed his companions, “You can take these zombie crystal nuclei and divide them among yourselves. Save some for yourselves, especially for high-end combat power. It’s crucial.”

The sudden abundance of crystal nuclei surprised them. The unexpected haul meant that all three could reach the third level of evolution with these crystal nuclei.

They didn’t anticipate Wu Ping to be so generous.

Is Wu Ping avaricious? He’s exceedingly greedy. He’d even prefer to enjoy it all by himself if given the chance. However, that’s not feasible. If the capabilities of these individuals aren’t enhanced, who will tend to the tree in his absence? Who will combat zombies and nourish the magical tree while he’s away?

“Thank you, Brother Wu!” Cao Ling was the first to express gratitude. “No problem. Just handle your responsibilities well in the future. While I’m away, keep a vigilant eye on the tree.”

“Let’s be clear about the unsightly details upfront—food, strength, and numerous other things you can’t fathom—I can provide them, and the cost for indulging in these privileges is!”

“During my absence, it’s imperative to ensure the nourishment of the ‘tree,’ be it human, zombie, or mutant beast. It must receive flesh and blood. Moreover, no harm is to occur. If anything goes awry, the repercussions could be severe.”

By blending grace with power, Wu Ping employed a strategy that capitalised on his advantages. Had Wu Ping never encountered challenges or obstacles?

“Brother Wu, rest assured, we will take excellent care of it,” Xu Feifei replied with a smile. Wu Ping held a particular fondness for this quiet yet dependable girl.

“Brother Wu, I have a suggestion,” Cao Ke interjected. “Go ahead.”

“I believe we should learn from other shelters, recruit more individuals, and fortify the walls surrounding the school. Only with more people can we effectively maintain the base’s operations.”

“It will also make collecting zombie corpses with a larger workforce easier. Now that the school’s zombies have been eliminated, future zombie hunting will require venturing outside. We need more hands to collect zombie corpses. As of now, our manpower is definitely insufficient. What do you think?”

Both share the same notion. “Yes, recruit more people. I’ll secure a food source and obtain some seeds. You can focus on recruiting, but be thorough in your screening. I don’t want a repeat of this situation. If you encounter a formidable foe in the future and I’m not around, inform the magic tree that I’ll return.”

Wu Ping’s mystical methods again leave the three of them in awe. Since encountering Wu Ping, the feeling of invincibility he exuded had captivated them. Crush! Regardless of the opponent or the challenge, it could be resolved seamlessly as long as he was present.

Wu Ping’s words provide a powerful boost for Cao Ke. “I understand. I’ll handle these tasks diligently.”

“Alright, let’s get going.” The trio departs, leaving Wu Ping alone in the conference room.

With a casual gesture, a crystal nucleus the size of a clear blue palm materialised in Wu Ping’s hand. Propping his chin, he examined the crystal nucleus extracted from the large fish’s head earlier.

“Zombies and mutants exist, so why not for humans? Odd.” Tossing it into his mouth, it’s somewhat cumbersome due to its size. Fortunately, the substance transformed into a pure, warm energy coursing through his entire body upon ingestion, reminiscent of soaking in a hot spring.

Physical strength became noticeably enhanced. “It’s a shame. It would be fantastic if I could develop my skills as quickly. No need to squander this physical power. It looks like I need to find a physical cultivation technique promptly. Can’t let it go to waste.”

He retrieved another crystal nucleus from the storage bag and consumed it in a manner resembling eating. Whether it’s the body or abilities, strength burgeons rapidly. Even Wu Ping himself was uncertain of his current prowess.

Well, in a state of full power. However, if possible, he’d rather not know, as full power implied encountering a formidable adversary. Hidden strengths were meant to be reserve cards. If possible, Wu Ping desired to overpower others continuously!
