Chapter 40 Beautiful Lady’s Privilege [Bonus ]

"But she doesn\'t look like one," he complained, his voice filled with annoyance. "And she goes to the gym. Gamers don\'t go to the gym," Gerry blabbered, his words tumbling out in a rush.

That made Allen frown, his forehead creasing in confusion. He pointed at himself, a gesture of defiance. "I\'m a gamer and I also go to the gym. Is there a problem with that?" he complained, his voice carrying a hint of indignation.

"You are an alien, not human. So you are an exception," Gerry answered nonchalantly as if the explanation was obvious.

It made Allen shake his head from side to side and smile dryly. He knew that Gerry was not one to be swayed easily, and he didn\'t want to waste his breath trying to convince him otherwise.

"Okay, joke aside," said Gerry as he returned his gaze to the front. "Since she is a gamer, she is a no-no for me," he continued, his words final.

\'I bet this because of his ex,\' Allen thought. Gerry had confided in him before, mentioning his ex-girlfriend\'s interest in video games. At first, it hadn\'t been a big deal to him. But over time, she had transformed into an "e-girl," broadcasting her gaming exploits for all the world to see. She kept their relationship hidden away from the public eye and spent every night in front of her computer screen, completely absorbed in her virtual world. As the relationship disintegrated, Gerry had grown increasingly frustrated with her flirting and lack of communication, eventually deciding to call it quits. He vowed that he would never date another gamer again, and he even went so far as to ask Allen to exclude him from any gaming-related activities or conversations.

"She (Larissa) never said that she was into you," Allen said, his tone indifferent. He didn\'t break stride, his expression remaining unchanged.

Those words were like a sharp knife plunging into Gerry\'s chest, twisting and turning as it gouged out. And even though he hated it, he knew what Allen said was right.

Allen watched him for a moment as Gerry\'s overconfidence faded away due to his words, before shrugging and adding in a casual tone, "Just saying," Allen added.

"You don\'t have to say it out loud, you know," Gerry with a depressed huff.

Allen, sensing his friend\'s despair, tapped him on the shoulder, jolting him out of his thoughts. "Hey, cheer up," he said, his voice gentle and soothing.

Gerry forced a weak smile, his eyes downcast as he struggled to shake off his broken confidence.

"Don\'t worry," Allen continued, his voice reassuring. "There\'s plenty of fish in the sea. You\'ll find someone new."

"I know," Gerry said, his voice soft. "I just need more time."

They walked towards Quick Fit restaurant, which was conveniently located next to the gym, Gerry and Allen chatted amiably, their conversation ranging from the mundane to the fantastical. Allen regaled Gerry with the idea for his new villain story, while Gerry shared his latest theories about the supernatural, in case Allen wanted to add them to his story.

The air was crisp and cool and the leaves rustled underfoot as they made their way to the restaurant. The smell of freshly baked bread and savory spices wafted out from the open doors, making their mouths water in anticipation.

Once they arrived, they were greeted by friendly staff, who welcomed them with open arms. The decor was simple yet cozy, with comfortable booths and wooden tables, and the walls were adorned with inspirational quotes and posters featuring fitness models.

After placing their orders, Gerry and Allen settled into their seats, their conversation picking up where it left off.

As they chatted and waited for their food, their attention was suddenly drawn to the entrance of the restaurant. Larissa had just walked in. Rather than going to them right away, she approached the counter to place her order.

Waiting for her food, she headed towards their table.

"Hey, guys!" Larissa greeted them with a wide smile as she took a seat across from them. "Sorry for making you wait."

"Of course not," Allen replied.

Larissa turned to Gerry and Allen, her eyes shining with excitement. "So, do you like the gym? Is it better than your last one?"

Gerry and Allen exchanged a quick glance before Gerry spoke up. "Yeah. It\'s got more facilities than our last one, and the staff is really friendly."

Larissa grinned, clearly pleased with their response. "That\'s great to hear! It\'s always nice to hear positive feedback."

Before they spoke much, a server approached their table, holding a tray of steaming hot plates and glasses of cool drinks. They were grilled chicken breast with air-fried sweet potato. "Your food and drinks are ready," the server said with a smile, placing the plates and glasses down in front of them.

Gerry\'s mouth watered as he took in the delicious smells of the food in front of him. He couldn\'t wait to dig in.

"Thank you," Larissa said, smiling warmly at the server. "It looks amazing."

The server nodded in appreciation before turning and walking back towards the counter. Gerry picked up his fork and eagerly started to dig in, savoring the flavors of the dish.

As they ate, they continued to chat about various topics, from the gym to their hobbies to their work. The atmosphere was light and cheerful, with the occasional burst of laughter.

After they finished their meals, Larissa started to bring up a topic about the game. "Hey, have you heard about this new MMORPG that just came out?" she asked Gerry in curiosity. She wanted to know if they would meet him on the battlefield or not.

But Allen shook his head. "Sorry, Larissa, but Gerry here isn\'t much of a gamer. In fact, he\'s a bit allergic to that kind of topic."

Gerry couldn\'t help but feel a twinge of embarrassment at Allen\'s words. But he indeed wanted to avoid it.

Larissa\'s face fell slightly at Allen\'s words. "Oh, I\'m sorry, I didn\'t realize it," she said, her tone apologetic.

"It\'s okay," Gerry said quickly, trying to smooth over the awkward moment. "I mean, I still appreciate hearing about it, even if I don\'t play by myself."

It made Allen turn to him and gave him his flat stare. "Seriously? Didn\'t you say you don\'t want to hear it for whatever reason?"

Gerry grinned innocently at him. "Beautiful lady\'s privilege."
