Chapter 370 - Fate
Chapter 370: Fate
Tian Bo felt like he was about to explode.
He wasn’t new to how Xie Lianzhen acted. However, Xie Lianzhen never cared about the sect and rarely turned up for meetings. So the star lords were all fine with him and were hostile towards him. But now, he was acting like a tiger that had just been released, biting anybody he sees.
~What on earth does he mean by “But as soon as I returned, all I see are my senior uncles ganging up against my mother?” And “I always thought that I got this position because my dear senior uncles pitied me, but who knew it was unrequited love.” He still said that he likes us? Oh my fucking god, I must be hearing things. Since when did he treat us well after senior uncle Yan died?~
~Xie Lianzhen can bullshit, but we can’t!~ With that, Tian Bo decided to calm down and hear his nonsensical explanations.
~Wait, how can this nonsense make sense?!~
Seeing this mess unfold, Tian Bo clenched his fist to stop himself from slapping Xie Lianzhen.
~Calm down, calm down. The Queen is right there.~
“Enough!” The Dubhe star lord, Fu Jingtao, who had been standing at the side, suddenly spoke. “What’s there to quarrel? It should be a happy occasion for us as Junior nephew Xie has finally returned.”
“Senior brother Fu....” Hearing him, Tian Bo turned immediately. ~Is he going to let this matter rest?~
Before he could say anything, Fu Jingtao stood up and nodded. “The reason why we had to elect a new Alioth star-lord was because junior nephew Xie hadn’t returned after a long time. But since he has finally returned, then we can leave the matter as is.”
“Senior brother Fu!” Qiao Haishu protested.
“Junior nephew Xie has finally returned.” Fu Jingtao shook his head. “He must have a lot to catch up with the Queen with. Let’s talk about this another time.”
Hearing this, the Queen revealed a smile and nodded. “Thank you for your understanding, senior brother Fu.”
“We still have our duties to complete; we will leave your highness and junior nephew Xie now.” He then turned towards Xie Lianzhen. “Junior nephew Xie, please return to the sect after you have finish catching up with her highness. The fifth clan’s duties have been done by someone else for the past six years. But you shouldn’t neglect her highness. It must have been tough for her to work so hard for you and the clan.”
Xie Lianzhen’s eyes widened as he heard this. He never expected Fu Jingtao to give him a way out. He even sounded sincere, as if trying to help him become a better Alioth star lord.
Since the other party gave him face, he couldn’t continue to embarrass the other star-lords anymore. Xie Lianzhen bowed towards them and nodded. “Thank you, Senior Uncle Fu, for your advice. Junior nephew will take it to heart.”
Fu Jingtao smiled thinly and got ready to leave. “Then the meeting shall end here. Your highness, do you have anything else for us?”
“No. Thank You, senior brothers. Please take care.” The Queen stood up to send them off.
Since things turned out this way, what could they do other than leaving the matter? The star lords all bowed to the Queen simultaneously before leaving. Some were unhappy, and others confused about where Xie Lianzhen had been the past six years.
As soon as the doors closed, Qiao Haishu could no longer contain his anger. “Senior brother Fu, what do you mean? Are you really going to acknowledge him as the Alioth star-lord? So history is going to repeat itself? We are going to have a useless doll as a star lord again?” Qiao Haishu was not an idiot. He knew what Fu Jingtao meant. For Xie Lianzhen to start his duties and become an actual Alioth star lord, it meant his position was no longer an empty title.
Tian Bo nodded in agreement. “Senior brother Fu, I understand that you are going to retire and want to pass the position to junior nephew brother. But as the clan leader of the first clan, you should be our representative! That kid hasn’t done anything, and it doesn’t look good!”
“I know!” Wen Wenzhen added. “He is going more and more overboard.”
But Fu Jingtao turned to them emotionlessly and sighed. “Can’t you see how stubborn the queen was?”
As soon as he said this, all of them kept quiet.
“There are only two disciples under senior uncle Yan, and that’s junior brother Xie and the Queen. Since the only one left is Junior nephew Xie. Would the Queen agree to give this spot to anyone else?”
“Senior brother Fu, I don’t think so.” Qiao Haishu retorted. “I remember senior brother had a few more disciples...”
“Junior brother Qiao.” Fu Jingtao cut him off. “Do you really they are as talented as junior nephew Xie?”
“....” Qiao Haishu sighed and said nothing else.
“If he didn’t return, we’d stand a chance to convince the Queen, saying it’s for the good of the sect. But now he’s back. The Queen will no longer give the position away. Remember how she forced us into agreeing to this?”
“Is there no other choice?” Qiao Haishu looked down in dismay.
Fu Jingtao shook his head. “Just forget it and take it as fate. The Alioth star-lord position will be his.”
The seven truth platform was a Taoist sect, so they believed in god. The few star lords pondered for a moment and sighed.
“Anyways,” Fu Jingtao looked back at them. “Didn’t you realize something?”
“Uhhh?” Qiao Haishu raised an eyebrow
Fu Jingtao looked at him sternly. “Junior nephew Xie has already broken into the spirit realm.”
“What?!” All other star lords looked over at him in shock.
~Spirit realm? That kid’s in the spirit realm?~ they did feel that something was out of place just now, but now Fu Jingtao mentioned it, it finally clicked. Previously, they were too caught up with that kid’s nonsense, so they didn’t notice it.
“How is this possible?! His cultivation was once empty, and his leg would take years to heal!”
“How should I know?” Fu Jingtao sighed.”Whether thanks to his ability or luck, it’s a fact now. Since he has already broken through, we have no reason to refuse him as the Alioth star lord.”
The crowd said nothing more. Back then, they disagreed with Xie Lianzhen being the Alioth star-lord because he hadn’t met the spirit realm requirement.
He was the legal successor to the position and had broken through to the spirit realm. Who else was a better choice?
The six other star-lord left the palace together. Some were pleased that Xie Lianzhen had finally recovered and broken through ~If the Alioth star-lord can finally live up to his title, it isn’t a bad thing either.~ On the other hand, some are worried about the future. ~With that Kid’s character and the Queen being biased towards him, our clan may have to suffer more losses when it comes to distributing resources...~
The group of them then left the palace silently.
In the palace, the Queen was holding onto Xie Lianzhen tightly.
She wiped her tears away and got called for Shi Yu before pulling Xie Lianzhen to sit down. “Xing-er, where have you been these few years? Did you really suffer?”
“That was just to trick those old men. I’m fine.” Xie Lianzhen laughed. ~But I still almost died, but I won’t say that, of course.~
He looked fine, and even like he led a good life. Furthermore, he was back in the spirit realm, so the Queen didn’t suspect much after some checks. She heaved a sigh of relief, and something came to her mind. “Where’s Miss Lu? You disappeared with her. Where is she?”
