Chapter 2453 - A War Without Guns and Fire (4)
Huo Mian knew Huo Siqian rather well and knew Chen Jie did not have the ability to make him go away with some made-up excuse.
Huo Mian was in her white doctor’s gown and was wearing her glasses. She had a black folder in her hands.
She was not only C City’s youngest deputy director of a hospital but also the youngest in the country. She was a rising star in the medical industry.
Rumour had it that she was Professor Luo’s disciple, which made many of her colleagues even more envious of her.
Before, some people at South Side thought Qin Chu used the money to bribe the executives to help Huo Mian climb up the ladder. Others thought she slept her way up.
As time passed by, people realized that Huo Mian was actually very competent.
She now had many roles. Not only was she the chief physician in the neurology department, but she was also a supporting surgeon in departments like orthopedics, OB/GYN, and neurosurgery.
Other than her medical roles, she had a hand in managing the hospital. She was indeed a very busy person.
When Huo Siqian heard the door open, he turned around. The moment he saw Huo Mian, his eyes glittered with joy. “Mian, you finished your morning meeting already?”
“You sure know my work flow well,” she said calmly as she walked towards her desk and sat down.
Huo Siqian carefully put a snack box in front of Huo Mian.
“These almond cookies are from May Room. It’s very delicious.”
Thank you. If you just came to give me cookies, then you can leave now. I still have a lot of work to get through,” Huo Mian suggested that he leave now.
“Mian, when can you stop being hostile towards me?” Huo Siqian said with a bitter smile.
Huo Siqian no longer wore brightly-colored clothing. Now, his attire was more dull, a greyish color. He still looked good in it since he was a handsome man.
Huo Siqian was actually a charismatic person. Otherwise, women like Mo Xue’er and Yan Ruoxi, wouldn’t have fallen desperately in love with him.
“Hehe... Don’t you think it’s hilarious that you’re asking someone you hurt why she hates you?” Huo Mian scoffed.
“If you’re talking about how I made you and Qin Chu separate with each other for four years, then I admit it was my fault. In my defense, I did it for you,” Huo Siqian said vexingly.
“You say it’s for me but in reality, you hurt me... I don’t think you can do whatever you want just because you think it’s for my good... We have too many disagreements and we will never resolve them. I will never forgive you so please don’t come running to me all the time confessing how you feel towards me and how you treated me well. I don’t have time for that,” Huo Mian said. She no longer felt sympathy for Huo Siqian’s confessions of love.
She no longer felt nervous, awkward, or anxious. Now, she was simply annoyed by the repetition of the same story over and over again.
“You saw Ian, right, Mian?”
“Yes.”
They both knew what Ian was capable of.
“Then you know how anxious Ian is to find you, right?”
“I know. You can go tell him who I really am. That way, you can score a win for that killer.”
“So you view me like that?” Huo Siqian was a bit frustrated and raised an eyebrow at Huo Mian.
“How else do you think I look at you?”
“If I wanted to tell him, I would have told him a long time ago. Do you really think you could’ve lived so peacefully all these years without me? Mian, you have to have some conscience... Do you know why people at Dong Tao Town don’t disclose your identity? It’s because your father, Professor Lu, and I have carefully protected you all these years!” he said, getting louder and louder.
There might be too much pressure on Huo Siqian from Ian and now Huo Siqian was very worried about Huo Mian.
It was rare to see him angry at her as he usually looked at her with a tender smile. This was in fact his first time yelling at her. Huo Mian did not expect his actions.
“So do you want me to thank you?” Huo Mian glared at him with an icy look.
