Chapter 714 - Brother Yulin’s Plans
Huo Yao raised her brow. She did not turn down the snacks and took them from Yi Lianfan. After thanking him, she continued. “I am going back to my hometown during the winter break, so I probably can’t come over.”
Yi Lianfan smiled when he heard this and said, “It’s fine. We can do it some other time.”
“Uh huh.” Huo Yao nodded. The car was already waiting for her outside, so she said to Yi Lianfan, “My ride’s here. Bye.”
“Okay,” said Yi Lianfan. He watched Huo Yao get into the car before he left.
Huo Yao placed the gift box in the back seat before she got into the car. One of the plastic bags opened a little to reveal a long thin wooden box.
It clearly didn’t look like it contained snacks.
Huo Yao’s hands paused before she took out the wooden box and opened it. It contained wild ginseng in a vacuum pack. Judging from its quality and roots, it was at least 100 years old and had a market value of $800 000 to $120 000.
She did not expect the Yi family to be so kind as to give her such an expensive gift.
Huo Yao put the lid back onto the wooden box. She took out her phone and texted Yi Lianfan to thank him.
She contemplated before she sent another text message: [From now on if you have any questions, feel free to ask me. I will teach you until you master them.]
Yi Lianfan was stunned to receive the text message: [Erm... Are you okay?]
After all, Huo Yao always looked annoyed when he went over to ask for help with some questions. Now that she enthusiastically offered to help him with homework out of the blue, he couldn’t help finding it strange.
For a moment, he suspected someone had hacked into her WeChat account.
For once in Huo Yao’s life, she wanted to be a helpful schoolmate, but he ended up saying this about her, so she went speechless: [...]
Yi Lianfan didn’t get it: [?]
The moment Huo Yao saw the question mark, she sneered. She deleted the message where she promised to help him with schoolwork in less than two minutes after sending it.
Yi Lianfan was even more puzzled: [???]
Huo Yao didn’t answer and put her phone away.

After dinner, Huo Yao went back to her room to pack her luggage.
Since it was the first time she was spending the new year with the Huo family, Huo Yao knew Old Madam Yang would probably feel uncomfortable about coming over, so she wanted to go back and spend a week with Old Madam Yang.
After Huo Yao was done packing, she contemplated before retrieving the high-grade Seven Leaf Lotus from the cabinet and placing it in her suitcase.
Someone happened to knock on her door.
Huo Yao zipped her suitcase and walked over to the door to answer it. “Brother Yulin, why aren’t you sleeping yet?”
Huo Yulin pursed his lips and said gently, “Do you mind if I tag along tomorrow?”
Huo Yao was caught by surprise.
“I would like to take a look at the place you grew up in,” said Huo Yulin as he smiled.
Ever since he came home, Huo Yao had been helping to treat him, so he wasn’t as bad as before. However, he was still slightly paler than normal.
Huo Yao leaned against the door frame as she pondered. She felt that it was fine for him to tag along. After all, Old Madam Yang liked having company, so she paused before she nodded. “I wonder if there are still any tickets available.”
Huo Yulin knew that she would ask this, so he pulled his phone out of his pocket and showed her his flight confirmation.

Huo Yao glanced at his phone and saw that the notification was dated ten days before. Her lips twitched. It seemed Huo Yulin had already planned on going back to the countryside with her ages ago.

Huo Yulin saw the strange expression on his little sister’s face and smiled. “Okay. Have an early night. See you tomorrow.”
The moment he finished his sentence, he raised his hand to touch her head. A few seconds later, he pulled his hand back and turned to go back to his room next door.
Huo Yao did not know what to say.
