Chapter 277 - 277 Aenwyn’s Persuasion
Callon furrowed his eyebrows upon hearing her words. He knew about the Heavenly Might Rankings because the three Elders supporting him were among the top 100 experts in the Regalis Continent. He also knew that his mother was ranked 9th and was even considered an absolute expert. If not for her falling into his schemes, she wouldn’t end up in the cold prison. “I do know a few things about the Heavenly Might Rankings.” He nodded his head.
“The human who made me submit is Aethelwolf Lassiter! Have you heard of him?” The smile on Aenwyn’s face deepened as she said those words.
Callon’s face changed when he heard this name. Queen Irithel Aracan is ranked 9th in the Heavenly Might Rankings and she receives an update about the rankings, but because she was locked up in the cold prison, the three Elders were responsible for receiving it. He had seen the newly updated rankings and there was a major change in the top 5. Everyone was shocked about it because an unfamiliar name was added to the top rankings. “Aethelwolf Lassiter, ranked 5th in the Heavenly Might Rankings!” He muttered in disbelief.
Elder Dawon and the other two Elders revealed solemn expressions when they heard this name. It was a name so resounding that all the top experts in the Regalis Continent know about him.
Lucia also showed a dumbfounded expression.
“Miss Lucia, what’s this all about? What is the Heavenly Might Rankings? Who is Aethelwolf?” Weis whispered. He was only a border guard and he knew nothing about the Heavenly Might Rankings.
Lucia turned her gaze to him and replied in a serious voice. “The Heavenly Might Rankings is the rankings of the top 100 experts in the Regalis Continent. My father, Elder Dawon is a mid stage Level 5 Esper, but he is only ranked 33rd. As for Her Majesty, she is more powerful. She is ranked 9th in the rankings. The man they mentioned, Aethelwolf Lassiter, is even more impressive. He is ranked 5th in the Heavenly Might Rankings!”
Hearing this, Weis’ eyes widened in shock. He finally knew why everyone looked serious when they heard Aethelwolf’s name.
.....
“That’s right. I’m now working for King Aethelwolf Lassiter and my task is to bring Her Majesty and her faction back to the Barden Territory. His strongest army is also waiting outside the kingdom. They are prepared to do anything I command! My dear brother, release Her Majesty and we will leave this place in peace.” Aenwyn muttered coldly.
Callon’s face twitched at her words. This was a blatant threat. He clenched his fists in rage, but he didn’t dare to make a move. After knowing that Aenwyn had Aethelwolf’s support, he no longer harbored thoughts of capturing her.
“Your Highness, please don’t be rash! Let’s just release Her Majesty and her faction. That way, we won’t have to worry about them anymore. Aethelwolf isn’t someone we can afford to offend. Even if the three of us fight against him, I’m afraid that we’re still not his match.” Elder Dawon immediately suggested when he saw Callon’s hesitant look. He might be a top expert in the Heavenly Might Rankings, but against those in the top five, he was nothing! They even had to employ all sorts of traps just to capture Queen Irithel who was ranked 9th.
Callon leaned on his throne and looked at the smiling Aenwyn. “Take them to the Queen and release the captured soldiers.” He muttered through gritted teeth.
Elder Dawon and the two Elders heaved a sigh of relief after hearing the command. They didn’t want to fall out with Aethelwolf. Luckily, Callon wasn’t foolish enough to clash with that person.
“Yes, Your Highness!”
The three Elders immediately led Aenwyn’s group to the cold prison.
Along the way, Aenwyn’s group and the three Elders remained silent.
“It’s not yet late for you guys to join us. I will beg King Aethelwolf to accept you. You can also bring your people with you.” Aenwyn broke the silence.
Her words made the three Elders hesitate. They supported Callon because they saw potential in him, but after he had taken the throne, Callon failed to meet their expectations.
Elder Dawon stopped in his tracks and stared at Aenwyn. “What would happen to us if we join him?” He asked.
The two Elders looked at Elder Dawon in surprise, but they didn’t say anything.
Aenwyn smirked as she replied. “Aethelwolf values strength. As long as you give him your loyalty, I promise that you will receive a lot of benefits. He is also in dire need of Engravers and since Elder Dawon is the best Engraver in the Aracan Kingdom, I’m sure that he will offer you more riches.”
“What about my people?” Elder Dawon asked. He shifted his gaze to Lucia when he asked this.
“I will make arrangements for them. As for your daughter, Lucia, she is a strong fighter and I assure you that she will become a general under Aethelwolf.”
Elder Dawon sighed and lowered his head. “I’m willing to work for Sir Aethelwolf and the Barden Territory...”
“Elder Dawon...” The two Elders were still hesitant. They still held prejudice towards the humans and they were uncertain about their future if they worked for Aethelwolf.
Elder Dawon glanced at them and shook his head. “The two of you are my closest friend so I hope that you won’t foolishly cling to the past. Haven’t you noticed? Her Highness wouldn’t come here for no reason. I believe this isn’t just related to the Queen, but also to the Underworlders who attacked us some time ago. If not for that, Aethelwolf wouldn’t have risked sending Her Highness and his army to our kingdom.”
Aenwyn was impressed by Elder Dawon’s sharp mind.
The faces of Edler Gild and Elder Ark changed drastically upon hearing this. The Underworlders were the reason for their worries.
“We’re willing to work for King Aethelwolf!” Both Elders muttered as they lowered their heads.
