Chapter 213 - 213: Help Her Wash Her Face
“Rub your palms together.”
The man complied, asking, “And then?”
“Apply it to my face.”
Quan Ranting brought his hands closer, and as the distance between them grew shorter, his heart began to race.
Indeed, the woman’s face felt just as soft and smooth as he had imagined, a stark contrast to his calloused hands. It seemed as though with just a little pressure, he could break through her delicate skin.
From Shen Wan’s perspective, she had a perfect view of the man’s exquisite face and his intensely focused expression. It was as if he wasn’t washing her face but accomplishing some extraordinary feat.
She couldn’t help but smile, her gaze fixed on him, completely unabashed.
Quan Ranting suddenly felt nervous. “Did I do something wrong?”
“No.”
“Then why are you laughing?”
“Because of you.”
Why are you laughing?
hm laughing at you.
“What’s so funny?”
“Even though you don’t know what you’re doing, you’re so eager to help. Don’t you feel awkward?”
“Then do you feel awkward?”
Shen Wan pondered for a moment. “If I said I did, would you let me wash my face on my own?”
“No,” he replied without stopping his gentle and unhurried motions. “And besides, I don’t feel awkward. I want to do this.”
“Hey! Washing a face isn’t just about cleaning the cheeks.” She chided him as he focused on her cheeks. Would he ever wash her entire face?
“Sorry, I’ve never done this before.”
Shen Wan raised an eyebrow.
Quan Ranting looked at her deeply and added, “You’re the first.”
Shen Wan instinctively averted her gaze, refusing to analyze what that look might signify.
“Close your eyes,” he suddenly said, his tone slightly colder than before.
She complied, and after a while, his warm palm moved over her forehead, his fingertips lingering on her eyelids, gently massaging them. She could feel the rough texture and a slight tingling sensation as his calloused hand grazed her skin.
Until…
Those hands let go of her face.
Shen Wan was momentarily stunned, but with her eyes still closed, it was hard for anyone to notice.
To make it easier for washing, she leaned closer to the basin. However, her disheveled hair fell down over her shoulders, prompting her to reach out and start gathering it up.
But she had forgotten about her injured hand, and given her current condition, any substantial movement was simply out of the question, not just for tying her hair.
“Don’t move; I’ll do it,” Quan Ranting said as he finished washing his hands and wiped them dry. He stood behind her, fumbling as he gathered her hair together.
Shen Wan replied, “Thank you, but I have a hair tie on my hand.”
Because the hair tie was on her left wrist, and any movement of her right hand caused pain, Shen Wan had no choice but to let Quan Ranting handle it.
The man thought for a moment, one hand holding the gathered hair, while the other went to undo the hair tie on her wrist. During the process, he tugged on Shen Wan’s scalp a few times, causing her discomfort. Finally, he managed to tie up her hair, albeit somewhat clumsily, so that it wouldn’t fall loose.
Then, he returned to his previous position, checked the water temperature, and began to gently remove the foam from Shen Wan’s face.
“Don’t open your eyes yet,” he said as he grabbed a towel and gently dried her face, displaying a careful and delicate touch.
When Shen Wan opened her eyes again, all she saw was the man’s face, which appeared larger than life due to their close proximity, almost to the point of being inches apart.
“Thank you, Sixth Uncle,” she said calmly, taking a half step back.
But in this situation, even the slightest movement was highly noticeable.
“What are you afraid of?” Quan Ranting approached, “I’m not a wild beast; I won’t devour you.”
Shen Wan turned her head away, refusing to look at him.
The next moment, however, the man caught her chin and forcefully turned it back.
“I don’t believe it. Even now, you can’t see through my intentions?” He chuckled, his gaze firm and stubborn, as if he were eager to confirm something..
