Chapter 162 - 162: Shen Ru’s Anger
Chu Yujiang noticed that something was off as soon as Quan Ranting got into the car, especially with the Lord’s cold and stern expression. It looked like he was treating someone who owed him billions.
It didn’t make sense… the people from the Shen family practically worshipped him, how could they possibly anger him?
Could there be some hidden agenda?
With a sense of curiosity but a steady voice, he asked, “Lord, where are we heading now?”
“I’m not in a hurry.”

After Quan Ranting finished speaking, he closed his eyes and rested, leaving Chu Yujiang bewildered.
*Ding!*
11th floor, Mingda Human Resources Department.
As soon as Shen Wan stepped out of the elevator, she bumped into Shen Ru, who was walking towards her. Behind Shen Ru was a refined man wearing glasses with gold rims.
Both parties halted simultaneously, and Shen Ru forced a smile. Shen Wan, on the other hand, wasn’t inclined to be friendly in response to the cold atmosphere.
Their eyes met, and sparks flew.
Shen Ru had not wasted her years in the corporate world. Despite her seemingly dignified and pleasant demeanor on the surface, she exuded a dominant aura underneath, no less than a man’s assertiveness. To secure her position within Mingda and hold the reins of the project department, it was evident that she wasn’t as simple as she appeared.
In contrast, Shen Wan, who had a less privileged upbringing and came from a company that was on the verge of collapsing, didn’t show any signs of fear, inferiority, resentment, or envy, despite the clear disparity in strength and status.
She stood there, akin to a mountain peak veiled in mist, appearing nearby yet radiating an enigmatic air of mystery. Her gaze was exceptionally clear, her smile subtly restrained, as if she had no concerns and remained indifferent to everything around her.
Shen Ru glanced at the folder in Shen Wan’s hand and smiled, “I heard you fired five people at once for being late, is that true?”
“Is being late a minor issue?” Shen Wan replied with a smile. Her previously understated features suddenly became vivid and lively, with a hint of a delicate and graceful lady. She was slender and graceful, exuding an air of charm and elegance. “So, you’re saying that employees at Mingda are often late too?”
Her eyes were full of curiosity, as if it was just a casual question without any deeper meaning.
But to Shen Ru’s ears, it sounded as sharp as a thorn, “Mingda and Mingya, just one-word difference, but a world of difference. Do you think the two can be compared?” She hinted at something.
Shen Wan understood.
Mingda and Mingya, much like Shen Ru and her, one was the legitimate first lady, and the other was a hidden illegitimate child. Although they shared the same last name, there was an insurmountable gap between them, as vast as heaven and earth.
More straightforward and blunt words than this, Shen Wan had heard in her two lifetimes combined. Perhaps, in the beginning, she might have felt wounded and shed tears, but now she had developed a tough skin, impervious to words like knives or spears.
Shen Ru tried to provoke her with her words, but Shen Wan’s smile remained unchanged. In this comparison, the former lost some of her expected manners, and her words turned sharper.
“I used to think the eldest sister was like a celestial being, untouched by the mortal world. I never expected you to be just an ordinary person, no different from the rest.”
Shen Ru’s gaze turned icy.
Shen Wan didn’t flinch, meeting her gaze directly. “Whether it’s Mingda or Mingya, good or bad, superior or inferior, they will always have a parent-subsidiary relationship.” Just like you and me, no matter how much we dislike it, we can’t deny that we share the same blood, and have the same father.
If you can’t cut ties, then you must accept it.
You don’t agree?
That’s fine, keep it to yourself.
“It looks like taking on the role of President has quickly made you more outspoken.” Shen Ru chuckled, her facial expression staying the same.
Shen Wan nodded as if she had received a great compliment and said earnestly, “Thank you, I’ll keep working hard.”
“….” So frustrating!
