Chapter 66 - 66: Game of Strategy, Battle for Dominance
“It’s useless.” Shen Wan chuckled. “1 chose a spot to prick at random. It’s not a critical point, but the needle is coated with an anesthetic. The longer it remains in your skin, the faster the drug spreads. Removing it now won’t make a difference because, in your moment of hesitation, you’ve already missed the prime opportunity to resist. Also, just so you know, I’ve secured the door with the wrong fingerprint. Even if you scream, the mushroom-headed fellow outside won’t hear a thing.”
“Your purpose?” His stern gaze was like that of a hawk, radiating a deadly aura.
However, Shen Wan seemed oblivious, leaning in closer to him. “Help me.”
More than a physical struggle, this was a game, a battle of wits between a man and a woman.
The woman’s pitch-black eyes shimmered, like a lake rippling with clear waves, gleaming and captivating.
Quan Hanting sneered, but soon he couldn’t find a reason to laugh. Under the mist of the hot spring, fine beads of sweat appeared on his forehead. Soon, a trace of astonishment flashed in his eyes.
His sharp, hawk-like black eyes coldly observed the audacious woman before him, gradually revealing confusion, tinged with a hint of bewilderment, yet not the expected rejection or disgust.
Then, the Sixth Lord lost his nerve.
Despite the effects of the drug, which had already left him somewhat dazed, Shen Wan couldn’t help but give him a surprised look. Huh?
The woman’s questioning and pitying gaze seemed to say, “I thought you were so powerful, but it turns out you’re just a pushover.” Quan Hanting’s composure crumbled.
His cold gaze intensified, but he heard her murmur softly, “What a good boy. I’m the same.”
Although his eyes still held a chilling intensity, he couldn’t hide the fact that he was flustered. He felt something he couldn’t quite put into words, like warm water flowing over him, with a clear taste and a gentle touch…
But the woman’s next words darkened his expression–
“So, you’re not at a loss.”
For the second time, the Sixth Lord felt a blow.
The woman, however, simply smiled.
A mocking smile.
For the third time, Shen Wan couldn’t bring herself to smile.
She sighed, and swam to the edge of the pool, ready to leave. But in the next moment, she was forcefully pulled back. She choked on water and turned sharply. “You…”
However, she saw that the man who had been motionless before, helpless and sitting in the hot spring, had now risen. He was taller than she had imagined, and in his presence, she could only look up.
The man’s deep voice was like aged wine that had been stored for years, exuding a rich and mellow aroma. “In this world, debts are always meant to be repaid…”
Shen Wan couldn’t quite recall what happened next, or perhaps she intentionally chose to forget.
The spacious “underground palace” had become the arena for their duel, tension filling the air, ready to ignite at any moment.
“You are really a bold woman.” He held Shen Wan’s slender neck, applying just enough pressure to make it uncomfortable to breathe but not suffocating, and she couldn’t break free.
“You scoundrel!” She used her hands and feet, swiping at him, and three blood streaks instantly appeared on the man’s face.
Quan Hanting tilted his head and sneered.
Shen Wan felt the sticky sensation on her fingertips, the bitter scent of medicine mixing with the metallic tang of blood permeating the air, stimulating her senses. She tried to reach for the other side of his face, but the man saw through her plan and easily avoided it.
Shen Wan drifted into a brief slumber, but the subconscious vigilance and caution forced her to wake up within the shortest time.
A creamy-yellow canopy met her eyes. She realized she was lying on a carved rosewood bed, and the air was filled with the natural scent of the wood. Beside her lay the scoundrel of a man.
“Beast.”
She cursed him in her mind, slipped on her clothes, grabbed her high heels, and left barefoot.
Others might not understand the principles and operation of the sensor-activated door, but Shen Wan did. She simply opened the door, walked out, and gently closed it.
As she walked out, she bumped into the mushroom-headed guy and waved at him with a smile.. “Hi-“
