Chapter 681: Return - Part 2
Chapter 681: Return - Part 2
Oliver entered the building with Ivy in front of him and Joshua right behind him. The security nodded at Ivy and stared hard at the man behind her, not realizing why he was even there. He was just about to get his register to enroll the guests' names when Ivy stopped him."There is no need for that. This is Mr. Oliver West and he is our Vice President."
The guard was so shocked that his jaw dropped and he gaped at the man. This was the first time he was seeing the Vice President and he did not know how to greet him. In his surprise, he completely missed Joshua behind them, which the young man did not mind.
Ivy chuckled lightly seeing the guard's reaction while Joshua smirked. This was just the beginning. The guard did not even know who Oliver was previously. The best reactions would be from the people who recognized him.
"You already have the employee ID, Dad. You may enter without any hustle." Ivy explained and pressed her card on the card reader.
Oliver too followed suit, his eyes lighting up in joy. How long had it been since he last had an employee ID? He could not control himself and he grinned, his obvious happiness making Ivy smile in relief.
"Oh, shit. I completely forgot about you." She exclaimed with her eyes wide when she saw Joshua on the other side. "Let me..."
"Not a problem, Ivy. Not a problem. I have a pass only for today." Joshua retrieved the guest pass he had got in advance and entered the place, loving Ivy's astonished face. It was too cute to do nothing. Alas, the time and the place did not allow him to do anything.
"That's great." Ivy was still surprised and her voice did nothing to hide it. In her embarrassment, she turned around, not having the courage to face Joshua.
"Dad, let's go. I'll introduce you to our colleagues and show you to your office."
Again, she went back to ignoring Joshua which he did not mind and followed the duo closely, in the meanwhile, keeping an eye around him.
There was still quite some time for the people to start their work. So, the building was almost empty. Only a few employees who had worked the night and the others who had started their shift early were present.
Ivy just nodded at them, not bothering them. She first had to handle the people at the top. The others could wait and as the Vice President, her father had already made plans on how he wanted to be introduced to the other employees.
Oliver ignored all the strange looks he was gaining from the people around him. It was nothing new and he had been accustomed to it. Yet, he could not brush off the strange feeling in his heart, it was mixed with nervousness and excitement, exactly how he had felt the first time he had entered the world as a journalist.
Ivy briskly led the two men to the top floor and as soon as she entered it, she saw people flying around in a hurry. Her brows rose for a moment, wondering the reason why people were scrambling.
Even Oliver was stunned to see the scene before him and he kept blinking before he darted a questioning gaze at Ivy, only to receive a shrug in return from his daughter.
"Hey, Kira. What's the rush? What's happening?" Ivy stopped Kira who was practically like a bird, flying with a hell load of files in her hand.
"Ivy, you have no idea. We just got the news that our Vice President is here and I'm shit scared." She blabbered, not noticing the two men behind Ivy in her haste. "Max has ordered us to be presentable and prepare everything we might need and what the fuck is everything?" She did not even stop her curses, letting her tongue go loose in her frustration.
"How do we prepare everything on such short notice and what do we even prepare?" Kira blabbered on and on as she balanced the files in her hands. "Max is annoying and our Vice President is even more...."
"Kira, let me introduce you to someone." Ivy put a halt to her non-stop chatter before she started to curse her father.
"Hello, Miss." Oliver stepped forward, his lips unable to hold back the smile of amusement. "I am Oliver West and I am the Vice President you are speaking about."
As soon as she heard Oliver's words, explosions went off in Kira's mind and she dropped her files immediately. Her face paled and she gawked at the man, too dumbfounded and frightened to speak a word.
"I....me...Vice Pre..Pre...President."
"Miss, please call all the employees on this floor for a meeting. We will be meeting at 10 exactly. Thank you."
Kira was still stupefied to speak a word. So, she just nodded her head in response.
Oliver just let out a chuckle and shook his head as he started walking with Joshua, leaving Ivy to handle the amusing lady.
"Kira...."
No response.
"Kira...." Again, there was no response and Ivy rolled her eyes.
"Kiraaaaa." This time, she shook her friend hard, effectively bringing her out of her trance.
"Ohh my God, Ivy. That was the Vice President."
"Yes." Ivy nodded.
"And I made a fool of myself in front of him."
Ivy did not know whether to laugh or cry at her words. She immediately realized that Kira had not identified who the man was. Otherwise, her reaction would not be mediocre.
"What if he fires me in a fit of his anger?"
"Nothing like that will ever happen. Don't worry." Ivy patted her shoulder to comfort her. "Now, get back to work and I will do so too. We have a meeting to attend at 10."
"Ohh, let me inform Max first. He has been...Hello, Max. Mr. Oliver West, our Vice President, is here." She reported as soon as the call connected.
"Who did you say our Vice President was?"
Kira's brows shot to the sky when she heard his loud tone. "Mr. Oliver West."
"Fuck!"
There was silence from the other side for a moment before the call disconnected.
