Chapter 220 - 220 Found
Chengfeng raised his head and roared. His four legs were so fast that they left afterimages behind as he rushed to Zhao Zhan’s side and howled non-stop, circling around him.
“Where did you go?”
There wasn’t a trace of excess fat on its body, and its lines were smooth. The tiger stripes on its forehead became more and more obvious, and he moved to Zhao Zhan’s feet and shook his head in an awe-inspiring manner.
Zhao Zhan was led into the woods by him, and then he saw Chengfeng scratching the snow with his paws.
After seeing that the traps he had dug out were filled with dead pheasants and rabbits, Zhao Zhan fell into a strange silence.
Chengfeng saw that he didn’t rub his head encouragingly like he used to, so he turned around impatiently and dragged another not-so-strong wild boar over from under a tree not far away.
Zhao Zhan could more or less understand why the wolves had no food when they migrated here.
Chengfeng must have taken advantage of his absence to come up the mountain and have fun. These little animals didn’t come out often in the winter, and now they were scared away by Chengfeng’s tiger scent.
Speaking of which, the calamity of wolves started with him wandering around Willow Village because he wanted to find his sweetheart for help. Thinking about it this way, Zhao Zhan was extremely glad that he and Jiaojiao did not stay in Hekou County for long.
If they delayed for too long and provoked the wolf pack, he didn’t know if the villagers of Willow Village would still be there by the time they came back.
Zhao Zhan put all the small animals that Chengfeng had killed into the basket on his back, then patted Chengfeng’s head, “Do you want to go down the mountain with me? Jiaojiao is back.”
Chengfeng rubbed his head against Zhao Zhan’s feet affectionately, then happily followed him down the mountain. After catching a whiff of the human scent in the large room behind the house, Chengfeng avoided the crowd and headed home.
Jiaojiao heard the commotion in the courtyard and walked out with a hand stove in her hands. when she saw that it was Chengfeng, her eyes curved into crescents. “Chengfeng!” she said.
Chengfeng jubilantly ran into Jiaojiao’s arms and knocked her off balance. Then, he ran around her in circles, unable to calm down.
Jiaojiao couldn’t move a single step after being spun around by him, so she simply squatted down and hugged Chengfeng in her arms. “Where have you been all this time? How did you gain weight? You look like you have grown quite a bit.”
“Jiaojiao,” Zhao Zhan strode into the backyard, his body covered in snow. When he saw the woman and the tiger gathered together, a faint smile appeared on his usually calm face.
He recounted his experience on the mountain to Jiaojiao.
“I handled all the things needed. I’m going to split the returns with the rest of the villagers.
“As for why there was a wolf disaster and how it was solved, I didn’t tell Lizheng the truth. I only said that the wolves were hungry. After the villagers fed them, they felt that this place was not suitable for them to stay, so they continued to walk deep into the mountains. In reality…”
Jiaojiao heard Zhao Zhan recount his experience. Perhaps there were a lot of things that could not be explained with science. Jiaojiao was surprised for a moment before she accepted the fact that her affinity with animals had expanded to such an extent.
“Zhao Zhan, you did the right thing. Although they don’t know the truth, we can still give them some of the things as compensation.”
“Also, when I was bored at home these past two days, I took a look and saw that the corner door of the backyard had a corner dug open by Chengfeng. I figured that he probably ran out through that gap when we were not around.
“After that, he probably got fat and couldn’t come back from that crack. That’s why he’s been staying on the mountain for the past few days.”
