Chapter 344: Violette's Decision!
Chapter 344: Violette's Decision!
On an Island located 250 nautical miles to the Seashell island, dozens of ships were docked near its beach. Violette was waiting on one of the ship's deck for Norman to arrive after completing his work.
Since the moment Alex had given his permission to start taking over the archipelago of islands east of the Belmont continent, Violette and Alex's family members have been visiting the nearby islands one after another.
Until now, no island lord has been able to resist Alex's army, whether on land or sea. They have quite quickly gained control over the nearby islands by force or coercion.
In fact, one of the Isle Lord was quite fast in swearing fealty to House Mordrake just so that he can shift all of his family to the seashell island. When asked why he was so eager to do that? His answer came quite reasonable.
He sought Seashell island's security and many opportunities found on that island to make his family rich and prosper better than what they have done on their own land. Violette had to say his vision was quite far-reaching.
Usually, High Lords will not let their authority being taken away no matter how beneficial it could be in the long term for their own house or their commoners.
Violette was also thinking about the reason for their liege absence for quite some time. She knew Alex was helping some man name Danny Glover establishing a kingdom of his own on the Belmont Subcontinent. Violette didn't care or didn't want to know why Alex would do that, as she had faith in him and his intellect.
Whoosh!
Thud!
An oversized eagle flew towards their ship and landed on its deck before shrinking in size and transforming into a human.
"Violette, It's done. Isle Lord, Farg Tegan has also abdicated from his position and has declared fealty to Lord Alex of House Mordrake of Seashell island in front of the commoners. One of Lord Alex's men has taken control over the island, and he will see to it that Farg doesn't change his mind after we leave. We can depart in half an hour for the next island." Norman said as he walked over to his Lady of House Angeline.
"Good work, Uncle Norman. Bringing another island into our fold without any bloodshed is a great achievement. Alex would be happy to know that."
"Haha, well, Farg had a good head on his shoulders. It helped me a lot." Norman chuckled, but then his face turned severe; he continued, "Our next targets are stubborn little shits. We won't have an easy time with them. They are stubborn and greedy. They will fight back."
"It doesn't matter, Uncle Norman. We haven't lost any men in our campaign until now. Not to mention,...' Violette turned to face the disciplined soldiers standing in formation on the deck and continued, "... these men are fully capable of squashing their resistance."
"That, you are right. I still don't know how Alex was able to gain such loyal and powerful soldiers..." Norman said, smiling. He then paused before speaking again, "Tell me, Violette. What have you thought about the proposal from Lady Meg."
Violette's cheeks reddened when she heard her uncle mentioning that proposal. She had thought about it every night.
"Violette, I know you hate men in general, but Alex is different. You should know that by now. Joining our house will bring more stability to Seashell Island, and your future will also be secured. Master Clayton and all other members of House Mordrake are ready to give their blessing if you decide to marry Lord Alex. Even his wives not against it... Violette, you also have a responsibility to your own house and your father."
Violette looked up at the starry sky for a minute while Norman waited for her answer.
"I also think Alex is not like any men I have met in my past. He is righteous, strong, smart and loyal to his friends, family, and his people. When I was little, I wanted to marry a man just like him, but after my father's death and after knowing every other boy my age, I lost hope in ever finding the right person until I met Alex. Like any other man, Alex also looks at my figure and face, but rather than showing unbound lust, he has nothing but appreciation in his eyes. I think I want such a man to be my lifetime partner." Violette paused and then said.
"I have decided, Uncle Norman. When Alex comes back, I will discuss this with him and his family."
"Haha, good, good. It feels like my shoulders have become lighter already. Your father would be happy and proud if he knew about your decision and about the man named Alex Mordrake."
Violette smiled when she thought about her father. Alex had given her the chance to avenge his death; he has also rooted out that headache, the count of Nehmor.
"Uncle Norman, we should depart now. There are still many southern islands left for us to capture." Violette said before giving the men at the wheel, her signal to drop the sail.
...
Alex sat up on his bed after listening to everything that Violette and Norman had conversed about among themselves.
'I guess I will have another wife to marry now when I go back—Selena, Ciera, Siera, and now Violette. I feel blessed to have three living wives and lovers like Nancy and Nora. Mom and dad would be happy to know about them if they were here with me.' Alex smiled, thinking about them.
"Alex... don't leave. Stay here for a bit more." Nora suddenly moved her hand across his hip to stop him from going anywhere. Nancy, who was sleeping on his other side, did the same.
'Why would I want to leave you girls. Hmm, this is paradise on earth.' Alex laid back on the bed and wound his arms around both his lovers before bringing them closer to his body.
'Hm, the warmth of loving women sleeping by my side is everything I ever wanted.' Alex went back to sleep with a big smile on his face.
