Chapter 257 - Chapter 257: She’s Very Good In That World

Li Zekai felt bad that he was asking Lin Wan to bake a cake on her own birthday, but he had bragged to all his friends. If he couldn’t fulfill his promise, he would be embarrassed.

“That’s not very nice, Jiejie,” said Li Zexuan.

“I don’t have time for a livestream in the afternoon. But I can bake it now,” said Lin Wan. She didn’t want to refuse after what they had done for her.

“Thank you, Auntie,” said Li Zekai happily. “I will help!”

Li Zexuan and Li Zexin glared at Li Zekai.

Li Yanchen was about to say something, but Lin Wan stopped him. “You all boast about me every time you get. Let me have a chance at proving myself, alright? The ingredients are all ready. I can bake it in no time at all. I will change first and get started.” She headed upstairs to the bedroom.

The Senior Manager of Chenxin directly went to the hotel.

Lin Wan’s best friends, including Luo Xi, arrived at the house first.

Lin Wan called Xia MO to ask her for help to bake the cake. Little did she know that Xia MO was already at the parking lot. The moment she hung up, she heard Xia MO at the main door of the house.

Xia MO told Lin Wan to just rest and instruct her, so she could bake the cake for her. Lin Wan couldn’t persuade her otherwise. She obediently sat on a stool and watched Xia MO prepare the ingredients.

At around ten in the morning, Huo Meijun, Su Wei, and Tutu arrived at the house. Xiao Tianlin and Xiao Yi had arrived as well. They all came bearing gifts.

Huo Meijun searched for Lin Wan in the living room. When she found out that Lin Wan was in the kitchen, she rushed over.

“Wanwan, Happy Birthday!” said Huo Meijun as she appeared in the kitchen.

“Auntie, thank you!” Lin Wan introduced her to Xia Mo. After that, Huo Meijun dragged her to the garden for a talk.

Huo Meijun had liked Lin Wan since the first episode. After watching two more episodes, she realized that she really wanted someone like Lin Wan to marry her son. But Lin Wan was already married.

She asked her if she had any sisters. Lin Wan told her that she was an only child. Huo Meijun looked disappointed.

Tutu hadn’t met Li Zekai for almost a month. They went to play in Li Zekai’s room.

Li Zexin hovered around Xiao Yi. When Li Zekai addressed him as “Wind God” once again, Xiao Yi couldn’t help but smile. He had missed Li Zexin.

Xiao Yi asked Li Zexin if he wanted to play a game, but Li Zexin rejected the offer. It was so unlike him. He had vowed not to touch any computer games before the school examination. Li Zexin was a man of his word.

Xiao Yi could see that Li Zexin was different from the kid he had met at the variety show. The kid had grown up.

Xiao Tianlin and Su Wei chatted with Li Yanchen for a while. All they talked about was how middle-aged men like themselves should be taking care of their health.

If not for the fact that they were guests, Li Yanchen would have had an angry outburst. He was annoyed that Su Wei was so worried about his health, and he was only 30!

Luo Xi navigated to the address that Li Yanchen had texted him. In the baby seat, Jian Jia sang all the way.

“Daddy, will we see Jiejie?” The little boy asked the same question every few minutes.

Luo Xi looked at his son in the rearview mirror. “Yes, of course.”

“Daddy, can we stay with Jiejie for a few days?” asked Jian Jia.

Luo Xi thought for a moment. “I still have my job. You can’t stay in other people’s houses alone.”

“Why?”

“Because you are still young and need someone to take care of you. Other than the orphanage director and me, I don’t think other people can take care of you.”

“Why can’t the others take care of me?”

“Because they have their own babies to take care of. Besides, Uncle Li and

Auntie Lin are very busy these days.”

“Oh… okay.” Jian Jia looked disappointed.

“You can still play with Jiejie for the whole day today,” said Luo Xi as he tried to console him.

“Yes!” said Jian Jia with a smile. “Are we there yet?”

“Almost,” said Luo Xi as he increased the speed. “Sit tight.”

Luo Xi’s car was parked at the entrance of the neighborhood. He registered at the security office and led Jian Jia to Block 16.

Pink balloons were hanging on the main door of the house, and the courtyard was bustling with people. Luo Xi took a picture of the front door and messaged it to Li Yanchen. “I am here.”

Meanwhile, Xiao Tianlin was in the middle of imparting his endless knowledge about men’s health when Li Yanchen got the text. Luo Xi couldn’t have come a moment too soon. He was grateful. He patted Xiao Tianlin on the shoulder. “You guys can continue talking. A friend is at the front door. I need to go get him.”

“Sure, Brother Li.” Xiao Tianlin and Su Wei continued talking enthusiastically.

Li Yanchen walked away and sighed in relief. He was so afraid to listen to Xiao Tianlin talk. He had a big mouth. Li Yanchen was worried he would reveal his secret.

The guests in the courtyard were all gathered in groups of three or five, and no one noticed Luo Xi until Li Yanchen went to get him.

“We meet again.” The two of them greeted each other.

“Hello, Uncle Li, where’s Jiejie?” asked Jian Jia politely.

“Auntie Huang,” called Li Yanchen. “Can you please take Jian Jia to Jiejie? Thank you.”

Luo Xi scanned the Deoole in the courtvard. He did not know anvone among them.

“Mr. Li, if you don’t mind, could I wish Lin Wan a Happy Birthday?” “Sure, I will take you to her.” Li Yanchen led him into the garden.

Huo Meijun was talking animatedly with her. She really hoped Li Yanchen would pull her away. When she saw Li Yanchen, she found her excuse. “Auntie Huo, let’s meet alone next time so we can talk more. There are too many people here today. I must go and greet them.” “Of course,” said Huo Meijun.

Lin Wan walked to Li Yanchen.

“Lin Wan, Happy Birthday!” said Luo Xi. He took out a palm-sized box from his pocket. “Here. A small gift for you.”

Lin Wan was too embarrassed to accept the gift, so she rejected it politely.

“Thank you. It’s just a small gathering. You didn’t have to bring any gifts.”

“Oh, please,” said Luo Xi. He looked at Li Yanchen. “It doesn’t look like Mr. Li minds if you accept gifts from me.”

“No, no… it’s nothing like that,” said Lin Wan.

“Then please accept it. It’s nothing valuable, I promise.”

Lin Wan hesitated. “Honey, it’s alright. It’s your birthday after all, ” said Li

Yanchen.

“Alright… thank you,” said Lin Wan as she accepted the gift box reluctantly.

Luo Xi prepared to head to the front of the courtyard.

“Shall we talk for a while?” asked Li Yanchen suddenly.

Luo Xi was stunned. He wondered if this was the same Li Yanchen he had met at the variety show. At Lan Village, Li Yanchen had always been jealous of him when he tried talking to Lin Wan.

“Sure,” said Luo Xi and followed Li Yanchen.

He led Luo Xi to the study.

Luo Xi was even more puzzled when Li Yanchen closed the door of the study.

“Mr. Li, you aren’t planning to fight me behind closed doors, right?” said Luo Xi jokingly. He was a little wary about it, though. “Just so you know, I was trained in Taekwondo.”

“I am not that petty,” said Li Yanchen. “I have some serious business to discuss with you.” He looked serious..
