Chapter 119 - 119 If the Milk Powder Was Poisonous, Would the Pears Be Poisonous, too?
[The one with the biggest hand should be Li Yanchen, right? Xuanxuan said before that their family had never gone on holiday together, and that he hoped that their father would take them one day. His wish came true!]
…
Xia Mo sent a few of the comments to Lin Wan.
!!
Her WeChat notifications kept pinging so Lin Wan looked at her phone again. Li Yanchen put down the towel and wrapped his arms around Lin Wan.
The next morning, the birds in the forest woke everyone up from their sleep.
When Lin Wan opened her eyes, her head was still resting on Li Yanchen’s arm. His limbs were stiff, and he grimaced. She sat upright and massaged his arm.
When they got ready and Li Yanchen opened the door to their room, he almost bumped into his son.
They were all sitting in a row in front of the door.
“Daddy! You’re up!” Li Zekai jumped up and hung onto his legs.
“Why are you guys sitting here?”
“We were afraid of disturbing your rest. Uncle Su Wei and the others are already up. We haven’t had breakfast yet. Auntie Lin, the breakfast will be over by ten.” Li Zexin grabbed at his empty stomach.
Lin Wan wore a t-shirt and shorts. “Let’s go down then.”
“Madam Lin, what else do you know?” Li Zexin walked around his father and approached her.
“I know how to eat. Move aside, the cafeteria is about to close.” Lin Wan put on her sun hat and pulled Li Zekai along with her.
“Auntie, let’s go together.” The three children surrounded Lin Wan, leaving Li Yanchen behind.
He stared at Li Wan being surrounded by his sons and sighed.
After breakfast, the two families said goodbye to each other. Su Wei drove to Jinlin Garden with Tutu and stopped at the supermarket along the way to buy a small surveillance camera.
Tutu had been very obedient throughout the journey. Jiejie had told him not to lose his cool.
In Li Yanchen’s car, Li Zexuan was defeated by Li Zexin. He and his father sat at the front and Li Zexin and Li Zekai sat at the back with Lin Wan. His sons were very happy, and they talked non-stop. Through the rearview mirror, Li Yanchen saw Lin Wan’s troubled expression.
“Quiet down. You guys are so noisy.” Li Yanchen said in a low voice.
The children were so noisy today. But she couldn’t even tell them to shut up. For some peace and quiet, Lin Wan asked Li Yanchen to drop her at The Sweetheart Inn
When she got out of the car to head into the shop, her stepsons tried to follow her. But she chased them back into the car.
Xia Mo had always been self-disciplined, so she was the first to arrive at the shop every day. She wrote on the recommendation board and did an hour of preparation before going to the office.
It was just half past ten when Lin Wan arrived at the shop.
“You’re here so early!” Xia Mo smiled brightly.
“I came here directly from the Tree Hill. I wanted some peace and quiet. They will annoy me to death later when I go back home,” Lin Wan complained but she was trying her best not to smile.
Xia Mo leaned against the desk. “Are you sure you want to participate in the next episode?”
“If nothing unexpected happens, I’ll participate.” Lin Wan hesitated. “I’ll start the live stream early today. I want to go back early.”
At noon, Sweet Little Circle went live.
She saw the number of viewers going up. Perhaps the fans who had been in the live broadcast previously were informing the others about her appearance.
When they heard the familiar voice, the fans went into an uproar.
[Xiao Huan, you’re here!]
[My heart is finally at ease.]
[Xiao Huan, I was born in the 70s and I’m also a housewife. Ever since I learned how to make desserts from you, I feel that my life has become much more enriching. When you didn’t broadcast yesterday, my heart felt empty.]
[Me too. I am a stay-at-home wife with finally something to do.]
[Xiao Huan, will you be broadcasting at the same time in the future?]
“We’ll do it at the same time in the future,” Lin Wan replied.
[Xia Mo, how could you hold yourself back from telling us who leads Sweet Little Circle?]
[Previous post, stop asking for Xiao Huan’s identity. Just enjoy the live broadcast and stop asking stupid questions.]
The fans seemed to have reached a tacit understanding. If anyone asked who the host was, many people would stand up to stop them. The live broadcast room was peaceful.
Su Wei asked the property management to install the cameras in the living room and he shared the screen with his mother.
Huo Meijun was always worried that her grandson would be treated badly. She was a little more at ease knowing that she could see the footage from the camera.
In the afternoon, Su Wei went to the company to work, leaving only Xu Xiaoxiao, Tutu, and the Auntie at home.
Before leaving, Su Wei said to his son, “Tutu, I will be watching. If you are disobedient or make trouble, dad won’t take you to play with Jiejie anymore.”
“Oh, okay,” said Tutu.
The volume of the surveillance camera recording wasn’t very loud. Xu Xiaoxiao tried to check it out.
In the afternoon, she faced the camera. ‘Tutu, this pear is delicious. Grandma Qiu next door brought it back from the countryside. Here, I peeled it for you.”
Tutu hesitated. ‘If the milk powder was poisonous, would the pear be poisonous, too?’ he wondered.
He knocked it to the ground and pretended it was an accident.
Hearing the clatter of the plate, Auntie Wen came out of the kitchen. “What’s wrong?”
Xu Xiaoxiao suppressed her anger. “Nothing. Tutu accidentally spilled it.”
“I’ll clean it up.” Auntie Wen squatted down and picked up the pear pieces that were scattered on the ground.
“Tutu, if you don’t want to eat it, you can say so. But it’s not good to spill it on the ground. It’s not right to waste food,” said Xu Xiaoxiao.
...
Tutu was going to shout that the pear might be poisoned but he remembered Jiejie’s instruction and quickly closed his mouth.
Auntie Wen was also tired of Tutu’s behavior. “Tutu, if you come to the market with me one day, you will see many people picking up rotten vegetables and leftovers. We have healthy food to eat here. You must appreciate it.”
“Grandma Wen, I’m going to play Ultraman.” The boy got up from the sofa.
“Xiaoxiao, don’t take it to heart,” Auntie Wen said, shaking her head.
Xu Xiaoxiao thought of the sleeping pills again. At first, she just wanted to make Tutu be a little quiet. Later, she found out that sleeping pills could cause cerebral palsy. Xu Xiaoxiao couldn’t stop herself. If Tutu’s health deteriorated and if Xu Xiaoxiao gave birth to a healthy baby, she didn’t have to care about being accepted to the Su family. The family fortune would be her child’s.
The milk powder was in Tutu’s daily necessities backpack. She decided to pretend to pack and take the milk powder to the kitchen, where there were no cameras.
Tutu sat on the cushion.
“Tutu, I’ll make some milk for you. Drink it and take a nap. After you wake up, I’ll take you out to play.” Xu Xiaoxiao held the can of milk powder.
Tutu was scared. He saw her take the can of milk powder to the kitchen to make it for him. He hadn’t prepared a bottle or Tupperware yet. He took some tissue paper and hid it in his little fist.
Xu Xiaoxiao checked the temperature of the milk in front of the camera. “Just in time. Drink it quickly.”
