Chapter 82 - 82 That Hypocritical Face
Lin Wan’s face darkened. “We are still livestreaming. It’s not appropriate to talk about personal matters. If you have arranged the gathering already, you can just text me the time and the venue.”
‘How could I show that I have a good relationship with you if not on camera?’ Song Jing was trying to suck up to Lin Wan and show off the friendly relationship she had with her. She knew Li Yanchen was a Big Shot. An Yang was an architect and he would certainly need Li Yanchen’s help in the future.
“I have a lot to do. I have no time for this.” Lin Wan wanted to scratch Song Jing’s hypocritical face to bits but she still needed to meet Wu Zhenzhen and the others. She restrained her anger.
Song Jing had not expected Lin Wan’s attitude to change so suddenly. She turned her back to the camera awkwardly and said, “Then I’ll come find you later.”
[What’s going on? Aren’t they good friends? Why is Lin Wan talking to Song Jing like that?]
[Lin Wan is right. They won’t let us watch the class reunion. Why should they discuss it in the livestream?]
[Didn’t you guys notice? Song Jing keeps pulling Lin Wan along whenever she has a chance. It’s as if no one would know they are classmates if Song Jing doesn’t mention it every time!]
[When I saw the sunrise in the morning, I noticed that she hangs around very close to Lin Wan. Xia Mo wanted to say something, but she didn’t even get a chance.]
[Song Jing is indeed a suspect. She’s always hoped for Anan to rise to the top. An Yang is an architect. Li Yanchen’s business is into real estate. She is trying to build a good relationship with Lin Wan so it can benefit them.]
[Wow. Too much sucking up.]
Song Jing walked out of the Li family’s courtyard with a dejected face. She hadn’t walked far when she received a text from Wu Zhenzhen.
He had not taken two steps when he received a message from Wu Zhenzhen.
Song Jing, who was already in a bad mood, exploded when she saw the message.
“Wu Zhenzhen, do you even know how Lin Wan is right now? The shop that you’re in belongs to her family. But do you really think Li Yanchen will make you pack your bags and leave?” she typed.
“Have you forgotten what we did to her back then?” Wu Zhenzhen’s reply came. “Do you think that had nothing to do with you? It is no wonder you are holding the class reunion in such a hurry. You want to pretend you have such a friendly relationship with her while throwing us all under the bus! I am not going to the reunion.”
“Lin Wan has already let it go,” Song Jing typed back. “We did her wrong that time. But it’s all in the past. What’s wrong with meeting her and apologizing personally? Instead of being anxious all the time, why don’t we just admit our mistake and get it done with? Luo Xi will also be there.”
Wu Zhenzhen’s heart skipped a beat at the mention of Luo Xi. “Luo Xi has been silent all these years even when he was in the group chat. Never texted once. Why would he be attending the reunion?” In the past ten years, she had tried to add Luo Xi to her friend’s list a few times, but it had never worked. She really wanted to ask him why he didn’t ever add her on WeChat.
“Yes. He is coming too. Don’t you have a lot of questions for him? You can ask them all in person.” Song Jing knew Wu Zhenzhen had liked Luo Xi in the past.
Luo Xi was the crush of everyone, including Song Jing and Wu Zhenzhen. He had never shown an interest in them. Song Jing and Wu Zhenzhen felt like they were on the same boat while they were envious of Lin Wan.
It was only after Song Jing met An Yang that Lou Xi faded from her memory.
“All these years, Luo Xi has never added us on WeChat. Wasn’t that because he was still brooding over the incident in the past? If we all meet and talk about it, everyone can finally be at peace,” typed Song Jing.
“Aren’t you going back to Yun City tomorrow? Let’s have dinner, I’ll call Zhao Dan and the others, too,” came Wu Zhenzhen’s reply. She seemed to have calmed down. She was still single because Luo Xi was the only one she ever loved.
“Okay, I’ll send you a message when I get home tomorrow,” Song Jing replied.
At Wheatley’s house, Li Yanchen pulled Michael to the side.
“Brother, uh… do you have a problem?” asked Michael.
“Do you have some brown sugar? Please lend me some,” mumbled Li Yanchen with a flushed face.
“Brown sugar? Sure. What’s there to be embarrassed about brown sugar? I can give it to you. Nannan brought some with her.”
Li Yanchen was very embarrassed to borrow things from others. He held the sugar packet that Michael handed to him. He mumbled a word of thanks and immediately left.
He sneaked into the kitchen. There was still some ginger left from the afternoon. He looked at the shrunken ginger. He decided that it was not fresh enough, so he went to the vegetable yard to dig up some fresh ones. Following the tutorial from a video, he prepared a steaming hot cup of ginger and brown sugar tea.
Li Yanchen had never thought that he would have to worry about a woman on her period. As he thought about that, his hands, which were setting up the firewood in the stove, stopped. He was the one who had suggested a contractual marriage in the first place but now he found his mind filled with worry for Lin Wan. He wanted to know what was making her so stressed even though they weren’t supposed to pry in each other’s lives.
Li Zexuan closed his eyes for a moment and decided to practice his guitar for a while. In the last half of this episode, he had to let his fans have a good time.
[Xuanxuan is so charming. At this moment, the world is quiet, and the clouds are drifting by.]
[The commenter above is so poetic. Just one sentence which is f*king pleasing to the eyes.]
[Is the Xuanxuan family’s chimney smoking? Didn’t they just have lunch, and now they are making dinner so soon?]
[What kind of eyes do you have? How did you even see that? I have eyes only for Xuanxuan.]
[The livestream room has a Sherlock Holmes.]
After the song ended, Li Zexuan sat in front of the camera and looked at the screen, thinking of replying to the audience.
“Thank you for your company these past few days. I’ll see you in the next episode.”
[What are you saying, you charming brat? I should be thanking you. It’s quite boring to be in confinement, but fortunately, I can watch your live broadcast every day.]
[How should I put it? I was angry at first, but I slowly realized that Lin Wan also has a good side.]
[Xuanxuan, daddy isn’t as cold as you say. He’s been cooking for the past few days for all of you.]
“Yes, he’s changing.”
[Xuanxuan, you guys are a family that got together halfway. You need to at least try and make an effort to get to know each other.]
“I know. I’m going to school tomorrow, and so are my younger brothers.”
[Oh my God, Xuan is replying to me!]
[Are you going to live in the dorms for the summer break? Inexplicable heartache.]
[The person above has such a fragile heart. Only rich people would rely on others. My brother is also in an elite school.]
[Oh, oh, oh, I’m so ignorant!]
“We’ll be at home during the summer break.”
[Oh my, I forgot about the summer break. Xuanxuan, can you post more photos? Even if you don’t say anything, just a photo will do.]
[Yeah, tell us all about your summer vacation.]
[Doesn’t that mean that you’ll have to spend time with Lin Wan all the time? You must have a cooking Auntie at home. Otherwise, what are you going to eat?]
“Yes, I’ll take photos when I have time.”
...
[Xuanxuan agreed! I am so happy!]
[Xuanxuan, you look really good when you smile. You should smile more.]
[I agree. Baby Xuan’s smile is so heartwarming. He even has two dimples. He probably inherited it from his father.]
“Okay,” he said. Li Zexuan smiled politely.
If love-struck hearts could be shown, the live broadcast room would be filled with hearts, and the fans would all type out the two words, “love you!”
[Quickly go and see if the kitchen is on fire. The smoke is getting bigger and bigger!]
