Chapter 471 471. CRUEL
The travel from the mana-rich zone was quiet and quick. The beasts were moving at a pace they had not traveled with, in the last two weeks. Noah remained uncertain whether there was cause for alarm or not.
However, since Sir Dere didn't mention anything, so he could only believe things were going as planned.
With the weight of a potential follower gone, the mood within the carriage changed for the better. Being lighter and more relaxed.
It was quite interesting to see nobles and guild members talk to each other in such casual tones.
The first day passed, then the second and third. This was their fourth evening after leaving the mana-rich zone. They had journeyed an unknown number of miles.
Although they were still within the Cusk nation, had they traveled that quickly to the mana-rich zone; two weeks would have been far too much.
With only one day till his pending state was off, Noah felt the tensest. He barely spoke, and only ate a little any time food was brought for them.
His thoughts were usually tense, but his expression was calm. Every time he saw the experts chatting with each other, he could only think about how he would soon leave their level.
'A tier four expert,' Noah considered inwardly. His eyes were blank while they stared at the world below him. It was mostly forests and rivers. They occasionally came across mountains and hills, and of course plains.
'Should I jump out or something?' he wondered, uncertain. His emotions were a jumbled-up mess, even if he tried his best to keep them as light as possible.
Suddenly the carriage went silent from all the chattering it was filled with before.
Stunned, Noah raised his head to look at his group. Shockingly they were all staring at him with blank expressions.
Creepy.
"What?..." He asked, confused.
"You've been silent for a long while," Madison responded.
"Two days straight," Gina was the second to speak. She wasn't lying. But the fact that they kept track was a tad bit shocking.
Noah tried to wave off their words, but they wouldn't let him. So he could only sigh and continue to remain silent.
This frustrated them, but they could do nothing but return to their own things.
The hours began to pass until it was already midnight Te fifth day was merely hours away.
Something changed, however.
Far quicker than Noah could dream of reacting; a black streak shot past their carriage; packing so much wind force that the flying beast found its figure tumbling in the air.
A cacophony of roars and screeches unfolded in the world at that point.
Noah felt his body bounce off the material of the carriage's insides during those chaotic moments. He tried to get a hold of himself, but couldn't.
A few seconds had to pass before the bird beast could regain some of its balance. By this point everyone was alert.
Time began to move in slow motion to Noah, but something big hit their mount and the world spun again.
To the shock of those tier 3 experts. Blood splattered on the carriage, blocking their view of the outside world. At least from that point.
Noah didn't even know what was going on, but he guessed for the worse.
"We're being attacked, he managed to mutter, but his words were carried by his power allowing all of them to hear him. They had come to the same conclusion too.
Their mount hit the ground with a ground-shattering thud, and the carriage itself flew off its back, directly smashing through trees until it stopped.
The carriage's door burst open an instant later, and Noah's figure jumped out. He was unhurt, and so were the others. Regardless, the events happening in the sky terrified him.
How had they not noticed the huge ball of flames decimating that force with terrible power?
Empowering his mind allowed him to see that there were three figures in that battlefield. Two were in a fight with the tier 5 cultivator and his beast. While the last one hunted the different birds down.
He could see all those because the individuals had not completely expressed their power.
To put his terror on a new level, Noah could tell that all three of the individuals were beyond the fourth tier!
The sky trembled nonstop, and even the heat and shockwaves from the attacks caused the top of the forest around them to catch fire, and trees to be crushed.
The ground began to shake while they stared at the events in the sky with horror in their eyes.
Their mount burst through the trees. It was mostly fine, but the part of it that had suffered the impact of the other dead beast now had blood on it.
They all could tell what it wanted but were hesitant. Noah on the other hand rushed to climb it. The other followed suit at that point. The beast was the size of a 3-story building but they climbed it with ease.
Their mount was sprinting through the forest in no time. Whilst the battle raged on In the sky.
The tier four cultivators were launching their own attacks. Bathing the night sky in multicolored lights. The ground beneath them was also suffering from the event.
Things were too abrupt and chaotic for Noah to properly process what was going on. He recalled sir Dere and Miranda and wondered if they were okay. He doubted.
Their mount ran as fast as it could, but with awe and shock in their eyes, all 12 experts watched its head explode into a mess of blood and brain matter.
Eyes widened and fear deep, they felt the beast trip and crash into a tree. Their figures tumbled and fell with it.
Noah however, had been quick enough to jump off the beast right before its lifeless body fell. He landed on the ground many meters away and watched the dead beast crash through many trees, before stopping.
He felt like running, but he knew far too well that for the first time he couldn't outrun those people. He had recalled one of Riveta's threats stating that she could put the entire plain under her control.
There were three tiers 5 there, he would die quickly if he made any flashy moves.
The only option that remained at that point was to escape into his cultivation room. He felt bad about that decision. Really bad even. But he would do whatever he needed to escape.
The thought of bringing the others with him crossed his mind. He decided he would do it quickly so he sprinted forward.
He was too slow.
Right before he could reach their recovering figures. A black figure seemingly teleported before them. Its movement had been soundless and terribly quick.
Terror.
Before they could properly react, Noah watched their bodies twist in unnatural ways. All 11 of them. Blood rushed out of their figures, as their bodies became deformed like wrung clothes.
He had seen the fear in their eyes. It shook him.
Noah stopped dead in his tracks as deep terror and horror overtook his mind. He couldn't believe his eyes.
The figure turned and he saw that it was a she. Nevertheless, he shrunk in disgust when their gazes locked.
Her features were light and beautiful, but at that moment she embodied the ugliest being he had laid eyes on. After all, her face featured a cruel sadistic smile.
She enjoyed what she was doing!
"Eh!... When did you get here," her voice sent waves of primal fear through Noah's body, but his figure disappeared before she could voice any other words or take action.
