Chapter 69 69. LINE
"Yeah, what is it?," James replied glancing at Noah.
"You know, you said you had left the learning of Inscriptions to opt into a job which made you enough money to care for yourself and your brother. What job was it exactly," Noah voiced out.
A few minutes of silence passed, Noah's eyes not leaving the lying figure of James. A heavy sigh eventually resounded.
"I was part of a gang of thieves," James sighed as thoughts flowed in his head, he seemed to go through a sad emotion from that topic.
"Though eventually I managed to get out, but that was after the rest had been killed during an operation," James laughed in sadness.
"I was desperate, no one was willing to help us without asking for a big price, and Jesse was just a kid, I had to do something," James said glancing at Noah to see his expression.
Actually Noah had no expression on his face, the whole thing didn't really surprise him, he actually expected a more dirty work.
Another sigh escaped James mouth, he was about to say something when Noah talked. "You know my former brother actually hated me, for personal reasons," Noah said.
"Why did you use 'former, he is alive and you-,"
"I'm dead to him, our lives can never be the same!," Noah countered before James could complete his words.
Noah sighed eventually, "Let's just get some sleep," Noah said. "We'll have to go for the registration tommorow," he added, laying on the pillow provided by the hotel.
James nodded, also laying on the bed, many thoughts ran through his head untill the darkness called sleep enveloped his consciousness.
Waking up early in the morning, Noah got up, took his bath, put on his clothes, then woke James up to do the same.
Going down the stairs, Noah saw that a lot of humans were actually lodged in the hotel. Getting to the ground floor, the two sat down behind a table, where the were served breakfast.
Surprisingly the whole thing was just bread and water, but when Noah took a bite out of the bread.
His eyes widened in shock. He had never tasted a bread so sweet in his entire life. Before he knew it the small loaf given to him was gone.
This marked the end of their lodge. Returning the rooms' key, they both left the building.
Upon getting out, Noah couldn't help but blink twice, as he saw banners similar to the one he saw the first time he learnt about Bozolom.
His eyes fell on James who also returned the gaze, his eyebrows also expressing his confusion at the whole scene.
The banners were massive, able to cover the lengths of whole buildings, and shimmered in the sunlight, as their texture seemed to be made of metal when Noah touched them, but they weren't.
Noah stood there, as he also saw multiple people wonder about the same thing. Eventually he and James snapped out of their surprise, and went their way.
Studying the map, Noah led them towards the place to register for bozolom.
Apparently his speed learning, also helped in understanding maps. It had only taken him about ten minutes before he figured out the whole thing, which was weird, since the information didn't come from the system, but he actually learnt it, by himself.
Arriving in front of a storey building, very close to the massive collusem, Noah and James were in shock when they saw the incredibly long line, that was multiple streets long.
Boredom fell on Noah's mind right there and then, as it would be a very long day.
Rushing to take their spots in the line, since people were constantly adding to the long queue, they waited.
They had entered the long queue around something 8 or 9 in the morning, but it wasn't until he could see the sun begin to set, did he get into the building!.
He wasn't tired or anything, he could stand for a whole week if needed, no, he had simply died many times from boredom.
He and James had engaged in light conversations at different periods, but even that eventually grew boring.
They couldn't leave the line, since the guards there said if they did, they would start all over from the back. No one could dispute this because according to what he learnt from James those armoured men were from the royal family!.
Entering the building, a wide dimly lit room entered his sight, at the end of the room was what looked like a booth.
Inside the room were multiple armed men each lined up in a straight line on both sides.
He couldn't sense their strengths for some reason but he knew they were strong.
Arriving in front of the booth, Noah saw a old man with a long grey beard and hair, behind it.
This greatly surprised him since he had hardly seen old people ever since he got to Cregar.
Although the man looked old, Noah couldn't dispute the fact that he radiated power in tier 3!.
"Give me your ID young man," the man said. Doing exactly as instructed, he tried to hand the ID over to the man, but it floated towards him.
"You should get this updated in the nearby adventurers guild," the man's voice rang out after a few seconds.
Noah simply nodded.
The man seemed to do something, since some tools or so floated around him, occasionally being grabbed by the man to do something.
Noah had to wait a few minutes before the man's voice rang out again. "Take this. It is a card that you've signed up for bozolom. When it's time to start the card will ring and when you get to the collusem you will be guided to your place of wait," The man explained.
"Lose it and forget about your participation, it has my Mana signature, and the material is something only the Royal family can issue, so forget about it being forged. And lastly imprint it with your mana," the man added.
Doing just that, Noah watched as the card lit up with a orange radiance, then a blue illusory image of his face appeared.
"When it's time you will have to do this to show the guards that you are really a participant," The man explained. "With that,vI am done. You can leave,".
Noah performed a respectful bow, and turned to leave. Exiting the building, Noah watched James enter, since he had being right behind him.
Noah waited for a bit more than ten minutes, but during that time he stared at the card, many thoughts flowing through his mind, he almost couldn't believe that he was actually going to participate in the event.
It felt almost like yesterday when he woke up in the forest, and now he had been through a bit, gained power, and also information about a bit of his future enemies.
He still hadn't found a goal, but that didn't worry him too much. His plan was that after Bozolom, he would dive straight into levelling up, that thought led him back to the ever counting down of days the system showed him about the bracelets effect.
[Duration: 343 days, 9 hours 23 minutes]
A heavy sigh escaped his mouth, at that point. 'This is going to take a while,' he said Inwardly, right before James tapped his shoulder.
"I've got my card," James said immediately storing it inside his space ring.
Noah simply nodded, and wiped the troubled expression off his face.
"So what should we do now," James asked after a few tens of seconds had gone without a single word.
"Well, our registration is done, all we have to do is explore more of the city, and probably get a few things done." Noah replied with a shrug of his shoulders.
"Then let's do just that," James announced with a big smile.
