Chapter 186 - 186: Privacy
“Alright, folks, we’re moving on to our final segment—randomly selecting ten lucky viewers for a live call-in,” announced the director.
With a single bang of the director’s gavel, no one else could object. The team started making the arrangements for the live call-ins.
“Our first lucky viewer is now joining us,” said the director, as the first viewer was connected.
“Hello, everyone!”
The voice belonged to a young lady, her face radiating youthful cuteness. When she smiled, her eyes seemed as if they were almost speaking.
“Hello there! What’s your name, and which of our artists would you like to ask a question?” the director inquired.
“My last name is Yu. I’m a huge fan of Jing MO and his music, so I’d like to ask him where he gets his inspiration for songwriting?” she said.
Her question was polite, and well within the bounds of acceptable queries.
Jing MO, now in the spotlight, responded courteously, “Inspiration, you ask?
Well, it varies. It really depends on my mood and luck on any given day. Sometimes, something as simple as drinking a glass of water or taking my dog Bobo for a walk sparks the muse.”
“Thank you, Jing MO! I absolutely love your songs,” the young lady exclaimed.
“Thank you,” Jing MO replied, smiling warmly.
Disconnecting from the first viewer, they moved on to the second.
“What’s your name, and which guest would you like to ask a question?” the director asked again.
“My last name is Li. I’d like to know who Lu Shi is in love with,” the viewer inquired.
Everyone fell silent. Lu Shi glanced at Xia Xin with a soft smile before turning back to the screen. “That’s a personal matter, and I’d prefer to keep her identity a secret to protect her.”
“That answer isn’t really an answer. We already know you’re in love, so tell us:
is it a man or a lady? An artist or?” the viewer probed.
Laughing lightly, Lu Shi shared, “Well, she’s a lady, and yes, she’s an artist, though not terribly famous.”
This elicited audible gasps from the audience. “Now you’ve made me even more curious, Lu Shi! I’m sure everyone else is dying to know who it is, too,” said the viewer.
“As I said, I’d like to protect her and avoid causing her any unnecessary problems,” Lu Shi firmly replied.
Meanwhile, the live chat was exploding.
[Not famous? Could be a newly debuted artist or someone who’s been around but never made it big.]
[I’ve narrowed it down to a list of 40 people. How on earth are we going to guess?]
[How’d you narrow it down?]
[Newly debuted and long-time non-famous artists. There are 40 in total.]
[Add ‘has interacted with Lu Shi’ as a criterion.]
[That leaves us with six.]
[Which six?]
[Xia Xin, Tian Mei, Li Li, Fang Qiao, Yuan Meng, Cai Cai.]
[Wow, if I remember correctly, all except Xia Xin had rumors with Lu Shi.
Nothing was confirmed, though.]
[So excluding Xia Xin, that leaves five. This is going to be hard.]
[Why exclude Xia Xin? Didn’t you hear Lu Shi? He wants to protect her, which means no rumors, making Xia Xin a likely choice.] [But Xia Xin’s dating MO Shu. How could she be the one Lu Shi loves?]
[You all are nuts! Lu Shi loving Xia Xin? Impossible!] [Why not? Haven’t you seen the loving gaze he casts her way?]
[What’s wrong with Xia Xin? Why wouldn’t he love her?]
[She’s despicable—stringing along multiple men! She doesn’t deserve our Lu Shi.]
The live chat was turning increasingly hostile toward Xia Xin.
“Alright, thanks to our viewer. Let’s move on to the next caller,” the director interrupted, cutting off the ongoing conversation.
“Hello everyone, my last name is Yuan. I’d like to ask Xia Xin about her romantic relationship with MO Shu,” said the next viewer.
Jing Mo t s heart skipped a beat as he looked toward Xia Xin. He wondered how she would answer.
“That’s my privacy,” Xia Xin stated, keeping her response brief.
“But you and MO Shu are considered the golden couple among artists. Everyone is quite invested in your love life,” said the viewer..
